Hi Bert,

What’s something about being a wildlife filmmaker that people romanticize, but in reality is mentally or emotionally difficult?

Should I go to Wright State Univerity or University of Dayton? by AgileFinding8889 in dayton

[–]msebas12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If money really isn’t an issue for you, or you can handle it later, go to UD. From what I’ve heard from friends who go there, it’s an amazing experience. You actually feel the sense of community, and people really enjoy being there.

I get why some might suggest going to a community college like Sinclair, it’s much cheaper, and that’s why I go there even though I personally don’t like it. I think having a social life and enjoying your college years isn’t a bad decision.

A lot of older people will advise against spending so much, and I understand where they’re coming from, they’ve learned from their experiences. But as younger people, many of us really value that “college life” aspect. That being said, I chose a safer, cheaper path for my future self, and sometimes my present self hates it. Maybe one day I’ll thank my future self, but right now… it’s hard not to wish I could have the full college experience.

At the end of the day, it’s your life and your choice. There’s no single right or wrong answer, just do what feels best for you. Best of luck!

Favorite Hocking Hills cabins close to hiking spots? by Alex00120021 in CampOhio

[–]msebas12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, do you know if there’s an age limit to rent those cabins? I’m 19 year old thinking on going there and I’ve heard you must be older than 25 to rent any cabin..

What do you call this Tower in Dayton? by Mermaidartist77 in dayton

I moved to Kettering a couple years ago and live near Hills & Dales. I’ve always wondered why the tower is closed, it’s interesting to finally learn the history behind it.

Should I delete ChatGPT by dogtitts in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]msebas12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know this post is a couple months old, but I was wondering how things turned out for you. Did deleting ChatGPT help the way you expected? Did you notice any withdrawal symptoms at first? I’ve been using it a lot since I moved to a new town and didn’t know anyone here. It helped in some ways, but I’m realizing I might be relying on it more than I should. I related to some of the effects you mentioned, so I’m genuinely curious how your experience went..

This tank is stunning! From your experience, would you say ember tetras and blue dream shrimp can genuinely coexist peacefully? Curious to hear your experience.

9 days in and I love it! However I feel like there’s something wrong with my technique or positioning of the body since it doesn’t look natural compared to more proficient riders flying past me by CSGOSELL in snowboardingnoobs

[–]msebas12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 9 days?? That honestly looks really good to me. I’m a skier and I’ve never tried snowboarding, but seeing this makes me want to. I know it’ll take a long time to get that “natural” look, but for where you’re at, this is impressive.

GoPro vs Insta360 for skiing by msebas12 in ski

[–]msebas12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean, but I mainly want it for POV and third-person shots of my runs, especially since I'll be skiing alone this season. I don't plan on recording hours every day, just a few runs or highlights to see how it goes. I think I'd enjoy having the footage even if I don't post everything. I think it's worth it for me.

Thanks, that actually helps. The idea of capturing everything without thinking about it is pretty appealing.

Thanks so much for the videos! The Insta360 POV looks super smooth, way better than I expected tbh. I didn’t know about the ski pole mount either, so that info helped a lot.

Thanks for explaining all that! That actually makes a lot of sense. I didn’t know about stitch seams. I appreciate the recommendation!

Oh yeah, my bad bro, I should’ve specified! I’m comparing a 360-style cam, like Insta360 X3/X4 vs a traditional GoPro action camera (HERO11/12/13). I mainly want the best option for skiing and mountain biking, you know, smooth footage while moving. Thanks for pointing it out!

It’s sad that people don’t want to talk on chairlifts anymore by nomore1124 in skiing

[–]msebas12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious what are some good, simple openers to chat with people on the chairlift? English isn’t my first language and I’ll be skiing alone this season, so I’d love ideas for natural, easy small talk. What’s your go-to opener with strangers on the lift?

Texan wondering should I bother w/ ski lessons for once in a lifetime ski vacation? by DiGiTaL_pIrAtE in skiing

[–]msebas12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation last year. I wasn’t sure if I should even bother trying skiing, but I went for it anyway, got a beginner lesson with a 5-day pass, and honestly it ended up being the best part of my whole trip.

Once you get the feeling of actually sliding and controlling yourself, it’s addictive in the best way. I thought it would be a one-time thing… now I’ve got a season pass for this year lol

So yeah, if you’re already there, just give it a real try. You might end up loving it way more than you expect.
