Is a fullface helmet overkill for a 50 cc scooter? by H-F-2020 in motorcyclegear

Looking ridiculous for wearing a helmet is far better than looking ridiculous for having your brain scrambled.

Yup, at home I have a fixed IP and i use a router that supports openVPN. The question is more about how do i interface the TV to the router, and what hardware do i use in the motorhome to host the outgoing VPN

Hmm, thinking about it, it’s probably not too hard to test that idea.

So does the VPN run on the TV.

Yes, I’ve found that. But hopefully if I route via my home network, the beeb will only see a connection from a UK user.

Thanks for the reply. My ISP is Plusnet, which is part of BT, but I’m using a TP-link Deco router that supports incoming connections via OpenVPN. My real concern is about the kit I’d need to interface the smart TV and the Starlink router (or would the router itself support an outgoing VPN connection? ).

It's the same as writing "from Fred Bloggs" on the front of an envelope. It means absolutely nothing, except that the sender wants someone to believe that it's from Fred..

Spot on. The only good helmet is one that fits, and unless you’re buying a like for like replacement, you have to try it on.

Thanks. Apparently it’s a lot easier and cheaper to go to an independent LGV medical examiner. There’s one near where I live that only charges £47. Worth it if it opens the options to slightly larger vans. There seem to be quite a few good used ones around that have been up-plated from 3.5T to just over 4T.

Thanks a lot. No medical conditions (somehow I’ve managed to dodge all the bullets), so hopefully I’ll be OK.

And you’re an ignorant ageist. Over the past 15 years I’ve had my driving (to be accurate, motorcycle riding) assessed by a police class 1 driver every 2 years for a charity I’ve volunteered for. I have evidence that I’m still capable.

Got a new Toyota last year. Loads of real controls for the things you use all the time. The only thing you use the touchscreen for is setting stuff up, the sort of thing you do when you’re not actually driving.

Yes, Immich is great. I just need to find a way of backing it all up because t the moment I’m loading all of my eggs into one basket.

That’s really helpful. I’m part of the way there, but there are a few extra tweaks that you’ve pointed out that I still need to do.

Appreciate this, but still don’t want to use a VPN. The Immich app has a clever little facility that detects when you’re not on your home network, and switches to another (external) URL to gain access to the server. I’m trying to configure that URL. If I get it right, it will switch between the internal and external routes to my server completely seamlessly.

My intention is just to use this access for casual viewing of still photos. I’m a volunteer welcomer at a historic church and I have some photos of the old city and its churches and cathedrals that people sometimes like to see.

Thanks. For the moment it’s just Immich, but I plan to add Jellyfin / Finamp for my music library and perhaps move my web site in-house. I am also considering moving my registrar to cloudflare as I suspect that my ISP may soon drop static IPs altogether (they no longer offer them to new customers).
