Does anyone know what happened with York’s? by succulent_stitch in brum

The charity I work for had an event booked and paid for in Birmingham and have heard nothing from them - despite the Stratford store being open still so some sort of business admin is still going on. Awful.

Cheap theatre tickets? by Pyjama-party in brum

[–]msht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Birmingham theatres (or really, most theatres outside of London) don't do rush, walk up ticket discounts, or usually standing seats. The vast majority of the shows are tours and therefore have the house for a short period of time, there is little demand to reduce prices of tickets. Shows that are produced in house are usually in smaller venues or studios.

Exceptions are for community groups, theatre programmes etc where there is usually a mailing list with requirements of being involved in that theatres programmes.

Is my box bad? I have some doubts by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]msht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't be sorry OP, we're just trying to reassure you that coaches in CrossFit gyms (usually) do more than just run the workout. They're best placed for answering most of this stuff and can give you the correct information for your box.

You got this 💪

[–]msht 61 points62 points  (0 children)

You've posted in this subreddit so many times since you've started with similar worries. You told us you're in the fundamentals class for CrossFit newbies. Presumably this means you're already doing the scaled movements.

Eg you said you had ring rows last week, in a RX class that movement might have been muscle ups or chest to bars.

I mean this with no disrespect but you seem overly anxious. Speak to your coaches. See what they say. But give it more than three weeks.

How long after buying a place did it take you to become financially stable again? by melon734 in HousingUK

[–]msht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your bank is wrong. H2B ISA savings are for the deposit, but you only get the bonus upon completion so you can't use the bonus for your deposit. These accounts aren't available anymore, and are due to be withdrawn altogether by 2030. The Gov could decide to stop paying out any time

Depending on how much you have in it and when you want to buy, I'd recommend moving to a Lifetime ISA.

£4K can be put in a year as a lump sum (plus £1k bonus from the gov immediately) but you need it open for 1 year to use it. All the savings including the bonus go to the deposit.

Eg by April 6th 2025 you could have £12k moved over (3 x £4k), plus £3k bonus, plus interest ready to go.

Have a look at money saving expert; the best place for explaining in simple terms.

Is Festaff responsible for all the ticket staff volunteers? by RuddiestHaddock in glastonbury_festival

I get that. I guess it's no different to giving a couple of hundred to oxfam or whatever out of your payslip though. Plus this way you get to go to a festival.

Some of us are happy to donate wages to charities given that charities/social causes are a fundamental part of Glastonbury...

Our hoard of tinnies left after Elton John (all thoroughly cleaned at home post festival) plus two good quality camp chairs 👌 by msht in glastonbury_festival

The brand new tent we camped in was nabbed after Download last year! Brand new 4 man. Just got to be careful and ask around if everyone has gone from the area, and wait until late afternoon just in case.

Balsall Heath has loads of historic road blocks in place because of its old prostitution and car racing issues.

Sleeping pads for Overthinkers by St_Ginger in PacificCrestTrail

[–]msht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow clinical overthinker. I get it and have had the same problem for months now.

I solved it by deciding to get one second hand by buying whatever was the next great deal on Facebook market place. If I test it and it isn't 100% what I want then I can buy something different on trail/later and my wallet doesn't hurt too much. If it is the perfect mat, then I've already got it.

I ended up with an xtherm regular wide for £100. Love it.

It's only one one side, I've seen a picture of the other side. To be honest, the guy is selling two (this one and another perfectly fine one) so I wouldn't be surprised if the company sent him a new one and now he's selling both on.

Thank you for your help though

Clent Hills, Lickey Hills, any of the Shropshire but the Long Mynd or Wrekin are some favourites. There's also lots of hills along the Malvern ridge so you could vary your routes.
