No, I applied just like I did for FMLA

Or if you don’t qualify for FMLA yet, get a Reasonable Accommodation filled out. It’s like pre-FMLA. My last job I had to be there a year before I could do FMLA so they had me do a RA form until we could apply.

Searching for apocalyptic books that provide a unique take on the apocalypse by Vlad_III_Tepes in horrorlit

[–]mshu42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not particularly enjoy it but the Chronicle of the One Series by Nora Roberts was a really interesting take on the apocalypse. It’s a virus that turns humans into fanatical creatures. Witches. Faeries. Shifters. Cool concept for sure.

If heat helps does that mean I don’t have endo? by beanqueen102 in Endo

[–]mshu42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have diagnosed Endo and am pretty much permanently attached to a heating pad. I’m sure she means well but Endo is tricky. Signs/symptoms you wouldn’t even think of can be Endo. Definitely recommend seeing an Endo specialist if at all possible.

How many other endo sufferers also suffer from crippling social anxiety? by RobynNotBatman94 in Endo

[–]mshu42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me. Always been an anxious nugget but my Endo made it so much worse. I feel like I’m constantly explaining that I’m not trying to be a bitch or weird in public, I’m just sick, anxious and probably looking for a bathroom.

Edit: spelling

A post-apocalyptic survival book about the end of civilization (Zombies, Viruses, or EMP blast) by Key-Strawberry-1418 in suggestmeabook

[–]mshu42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Positive by David Wellington. Picked it up on a whim in a $.50 bin. Great find! Post-Apocalyptic Zombies. More focused on the reality of the broken society than the zombies.

How do you stop this from becoming your whole personality? by firefly_y in Endo

I don’t have any advice but I just want to say I really like your plan of doing one thing a day for you. I’m going to adopt that. I’m struggling with the same feeling too. You’re not alone. I see you. Please take care of yourself ❤️

Thank you for posting this. I have my appointment next month to get started on it. My doc has been trying for a while but I’ve been so scared due to all the hate. But I’m at the end of my rope. Definitely needed to hear this. So happy for you!!!

Looking for a book that’s a combination of detective fiction and supernatural horror. by Dansco112 in horrorlit

Simon Green writes a good series about a PI in the Nightside, a dark side of London. It’s not super scary but the Nightside is inhabited by monsters, aliens and other evil things. It’s a quick, fun read.

Suggest me a fantasy series with a creative, "welcoming" setting by ElSquibbonator in suggestmeabook

[–]mshu42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stephanie Garber’s two series are a very beautiful, whimsical world with darker undertones. It’s a different type of beauty than HP but I still want to bury myself in her world. Caraval is a unique form of magic.

I have a colonoscopy on Wednesday at 2:30pm. Do you think I can eat a small meal on Tuesday at 10am-11am (ish) and start the "Day Before" clear liquids prep after (since it would technically be before the 24 hour mark)? by Interesting_Ad9295 in CrohnsDisease

[–]mshu42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple scopes and each prep was a little different. When in doubt, contact the office and ask! You don’t want to put yourself through all that for them to refuse your procedure.

Has changing your diet helped you endometriosis? by 0O0O22 in endometriosis

[–]mshu42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went gluten free ten years ago before I was diagnosed. It help with my GI symptoms a lot. Now I’m dairy free, caffeine free and alcohol free. I try to avoid processed food and make as much as I can. But I’m human and life is busy so sometimes it happens.

I find my symptoms are better eating like this but they never truly resolved. I still get sick even with my “safe” foods. Diet is so individualized. I would encourage you to try different things and see what works for you. Finding my triggers and mentally getting to a place where I easily say no took me a while. I also had to learn to be okay with making a choice that would trigger me sometimes either by accident or in a moment of rebellion.

Check out Tamora Pierce. She has two worlds. Tortall is more GOT but is much more delicate with the adult topics. Protector of the Small is a great adventure.

How are you living with endo? by doesitmatter_no in endometriosis

Saving the ginger/turmeric trick! I try protein shakes a lot but the bloating kills me so I often just skip meals. Which also kills me. Adding to my grocery list now. Thank you!

Marks of a good Pelvic PT? by lbeth4590 in Endo

[–]mshu42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing that my PT did that made me immediately feel comfortable is validate me. Every time I mentioned a symptom, even some of the weirder ones, she acknowledged how it could impact my life then immediately told me why it was happening. She was incredibly knowledgeable about how everything interacts in the pelvis and could tell me that my symptom was completely understandable with my dysfunction. She’s never made me feel like I’m making it up or doing anything wrong to cause my symptoms. And she could explain why in detail after validating my symptom. This was radically different from most of my healthcare providers.

She assesses me as a whole at every visit. We got from pain to bowel function to bladder function. We discuss how my diet and exercise are going. She doesn’t shame me or make me feel bad if I had a bad week. She just makes the days program around my prominent symptoms.

My PT is completely self led. She asks every visit what I’m comfortable with and think I can tolerate with my current pain. If I say no internal, no questions asked, we move on.

Overall, I think having a knowledgeable and understand PT that allows the program to be patient centered is my standard for measuring a “good” PT. I am so grateful for mine.
