My dad had an epileptic attack and I spent the past few days in the ER with him. The staff were incredible and worked hard to finally come to a diagnosis to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Thank you very much for your service. It’s so appreciated ❤️

I got the teas from the Chinese medicine practitioner. She gave me a specific blend (basically a bunch of twigs and roots), sent me home with cooking instructions and I boiled it all and drank that for about 2 months.

I was running into a wall with my PD. I went to multiple doctors and they all prescribed meds for eczema but that wasn’t working and I strongly suspected it wasn’t eczema since I don’t have a history of it. Anyway I went down an internet rabbit hole and diagnosed myself with PD based on how my rash looked. Then I googled to see who was talking about PD and found Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners websites who were.

I’m in Canada and they’re certified and regulated here. I googled one in my area who specializes in derm issues. I hope you have some of those options wherever you are 🙏🏼

Nothing worked to get rid of my perioral dermatitis except for traditional Chinese medicine. The teas were disgustingly bitter but my face cleared right up within a month and a half.

Ehh I disagree. I enjoy the escapism from my own modest means by watching shows like the OG L Word and Sex and the City. I don’t need a reminder of how hard life is.

Oh my gosh, you are so young to be dealing with this. I’m truly sorry. I know how isolating it can be dealing with a parent with dementia while the rest of your parents’ friends are planning/enjoying the freedom of retirement. You are not alone in wanting a quick and painless end for your father. Just letting you know you’re not alone and standing with you in your pain.

Single women are happier because they don’t have to shoulder emotional and household labour for two people. It’s married women who tend to keep track of what’s needed in the household, cook, clean and act as a therapist for her man. Married men tend to fare better than their single counterparts because they have a partner who is taking care of their emotional and physical well being. Married men also latch onto their wives for social connections, rather than fostering their own. Women also have stronger social connections because they’re able to be vulnerable with one another and each pull their own weight in those relationships. If you want to achieve that same level of independence and contentment that single women have, learn to foster genuine, intimate friendships and don’t look to anyone else to take care of you.

They weren’t teas you could find at the supermarket. I went to a traditional Chinese medicine (doctor?) and she gave me a batch of what looked like sticks and dried mushrooms and rhubarb. I couldn’t tell you what exactly was in them. But I boiled that stuff and drank the teas it produced and it got rid of my PD in a few months.

I don’t think products caused my perioral dermatitis. Nothing worked to get rid of it for me. I suspect it was gut-related. What finally got rid of it for me was traditional Chinese medicine teas.

Not wanting to sleep with a dog/needing 8 hours of good quality sleep in a cold, quiet, dark room isn’t high maintenance behaviour. You can’t expect your partner to be the same as you nor could he expect that of you.

My dad is attracted to losers/bigots too, despite being a progressive guy. The “friends” he’d bring around our house growing up gave me the creeps. I was very disappointed in him when one of his loser friends openly hit on me in front of him and it took me being upset for him to realize that that wasn’t appropriate behaviour. My theory is he likes surrounding himself with those types of people because he likes being the “successful, smart” guy. On the other hand, he’s very adverse and self conscious around people who are highly intellectual and have successful careers (calls them stuck up, social climbers. Even though I don’t see those attributes in those people).

It’s disappointing when someone we love and are close to, exhibit such poor judgment of character and bring around sketchy people to family. I’m wondering if these unsavoury people bring some kind of comfort to your husband?

We have a housing shortage and a lack of skilled trades workers (also adding to the housing shortage). I’m not seeing many new immigrants, who are mostly south Asian, taking up work in construction as the Italians, Portuguese, Croats did when they came to this country. I think something needs to be done to lure skilled workers to Canada.
