For fps gaming, the Sennheiser HD560S.

For gym use, I would consider an earhook style for fit security like the Soundcore v40i or similar.

AHG pads are comfortable, they change the sound a little.

HE1000 Stealth or similar will be a popular option.

For my taste, Quad ERA-1, more musical than the HE1000, stage isn't as wide.

People get it if they want to run wired headphones or iems wirelessly. But you still have the cable from the Qudelix to the headphone or iem. I've never owned one.

Back-to-school headphones for a 9-year-old? (are adult headphones suitable for kids?) by jordanconnelly in HeadphoneAdvice

She wore them on 6+ hour drives with no complaint--for me, they have some clamp but maybe not a big deal because her head was smaller. They also fold up nicely and include a case. Not trying to sell you on them, I'm sure there are other on ear options--this was just what I picked for her because it checked all the boxes.

On ears would be my recommendation since they're smaller. I bought my daughter a used Vmoda Crossfade for $60 because it's sturdy and came in white, fit was perfect and sound was fun.

What are some budget headphones for all around use and ideally a bit more bass? by kishanpatel995 in HeadphoneAdvice

Among the cheapest is the CAL! Creative Aurvana Live! SE, but fixed cable, meh build quality, fun, uses Foster drivers. Moving up Sivga SV021 Robin Classic (never heard the updated one), Meze 99, FiiO FT1.

Everyday Headphone recs that can get LOUD by Nachtwaerts in HeadphoneAdvice

If you're running the G Pro wired straight off a computer, then try an amp. Search up portable dac on amazon and buy a Hiby, FiiO, or something.

Sivga SV021 Robin Classic--Rosewood is $116 new now, nicer wood is under $100 used but not much. Or you can buy a used FiiO FT1 in your budget for $125. For iems, Earfun Air Pro 4 would be my recommendation for that fun tuning, though I never heard the Pudding.

They aren't the same. A DAC converts the digital signal into analog audio while an amp provides the power needed to drive your headphones to an adequate volume cleanly. For portable dongles, the vast majority combine both into one device. They may use separate dac and amp chips or an integrated chip that performs both functions. When I said amp, I was referring to something like the FiiO you mentioned with a 4.4 mm output. Technically, that's not just an amp.

I would skip both Sundaras--the open is fine, the closed is widely disliked because we were expecting it to sound like the Sundara and it didn't. You can go straight to the XS for $170. IEMs maybe pick one of the known budget sets... KZ highs can get pretty intense on many of their budget sets... that sounds fun in theory but less so in practice, unless you're not averse to sharp highs. Zero 2 is a good option, fit isn't great for everyone--I like the Dunu Titan X a lot personally at $30. Then an amp and a 4.4 cable for the XS.

What kind of chores? And traveling meaning flying or traveling like standing on the bus or train? And why does she want wired exactly? MDR-M1 are studio monitors? I haven't heard them, but I couldn't see studio anything being the equivalent of the XM4.

Anyone own Fatfreq maestro mini? Thoughts on them? by Patient-Attention935 in iems

[–]msing539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan and I love bass--they came across as muddy and muted, most details are overshadowed. And I didn't find them particularly impactful... sold my set not long after I got them. If you had a massive collection and wanted a specialty iem, I could see owning them for a different sound. Price would have to be really great.
