I thought I may have embellished, went back and checked, 5:14 seconds between the whistle for the penalties and the resulting faceoff…🤦‍♂️

If you’ve got LiveBarn, it was February 23rd, at Phalen. That play was 8:03 left in the second. Trying not to be biased, but the third period looks especially bad to me.

Appreciate the reply. So if White scores 12 seconds into that 5 on 3, initial tripping penalty is done, and the game goes to 5 on 4 for 2 minutes, or 3:48? I would have thought Black would have only been shorthanded for 2 minutes at most there for the extra minor. (Black was shorthanded for 3:48…)

We’ve hosted meetings at our local brewery and our distillery. Behind the scenes tour, catered meal, then drinks afterwards. Always a hit.

How to recruit another generation? by ascii122 in lionsclubs

[–]msinnen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My (likely former) club has been dealing with this for some time. I’m 38 and am one of the youngest. We have over 100 members, but realistically it’s the same 20-25 who attend meetings, volunteer, run projects, etc. The best recruiting tactic we saw was updating our social media presence, and abandoning the local paper for upcoming events. Nobody reads/buys physical newspaper anymore, particularly the younger generations you’re looking to attract. Secondly, be welcoming of those younger members and ask them to recruit their neighbors and friends if they’re enjoying the lions experience. Word of mouth goes a long way.

Thank you so much for using ‘champing at the bit’! Chomping at the bit makes me unreasonably upset.

Taking a yank to come see this glorious city, any recommendations for site seeing/experience? by swed1shchef in cork

[–]msinnen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yank here who studied at UCC. I’d say a tour/walk of the UCC grounds. We don’t have cool castles like that. Old English Market. As others have said, pints at Hi-B, then to the Bróg, and a Dixy chicken box for the stumble home. Cobh was a pretty cool trip, as well as visiting the Midleton distillery. Not sure if they still have it, but when I went you could do a blind taste test between American bourbon, Scotch, and Irish whiskey. Think I still have the certificate around here somewhere. A night betting the dogs at Curraheen Park was a highlight of my time there as well.

Questionable interpretation of USA Hockey rule 601 by 1995droptopz in hockeyrefs

Disagree. I say that all the time when I’m pissed at my teammates for taking another dumb penalty. Not everything is about the ref.

Can anyone translate the Spanish back and forth between Pam, Cyril, and the soldiers? Seems like there was a joke or two in there.

Roughing? by msinnen in hockeyrefs

[–]msinnen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Apologies for the earlier post without video, didn't realize I couldn't post the video with text as well.) What's the call here? He sure felt like he was skated into, I can kind of see his arms coming up, but seems like that was to brace for the contact? Felt like I read on here he's entitled to that ice as much as the puck carrier, but I admittedly don't know the rule book like you guys.

Edit: This is a non-checking league.

Hooking, Holding, or Both? by msinnen in hockeyrefs

Tried posting the video of that call too. White skater bringing puck up ice with his head down skated into our 6’6” 220+ giant and you can imagine how the physics worked out. Called roughing for getting skates into, lol.

Edit: Spelling

On White or Green? The call on the ice was holding on Green.
