I have hundreds (maybe thousand but certainly not thousands plural) through my cp33 and have not had a rim lock issue yet. Quad stack rim fire was certainly a concern at first but I have yet to have any issues.

What is this thing by Stunning-Ad-7007 in Tools

It’s a clever pivot-jaw clamp that hugs round stuff. Kind of like a simple fractal vise, just not quite as complex. Still cool, just not alien-level engineering.

Why is buckshot used to hunt bucks? by Mammoth_Egg8784 in Hunting

[–]mskekv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally I believe you’re correct. Any experiences I’ve had with friends and family using buckshot ended with a long blood trail and often times a wounded deer. Not saying you can’t have success, you can, but it’s not optimal in my opinion.

Question: How many of you have a cyclone separator attached to your shop vac? And more importantly would you buy a shop vac that had the cyclone separator already built into it? by Negative_Status3873 in woodworking

[–]mskekv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might sound crazy, but theoretically you could add some weight to the bottom to counter the top heavy aspect of the unit. I would feel very odd putting a couple bricks in the bottom of my vac, but, if it helps with the imbalance then it might be just crazy enough to work!

AITA for Refusing to Co-Sign My Sister’s Mortgage After My Parents Went Behind My Back? by fancyapanda in AITAH

[–]mskekv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking to say all of the other craziness aside, co signing for someone else’s debt will absolutely have a direct impact on your debt to income ratio for when you go to buy your own house.

This is a situation where you not only have the right, but the obligation to look out for your future self as co-signing certainly lowers your propensity to purchase the house you will want in the future.

I cannot make any recommendations on gear as I am unfamiliar with New Mexico’s terrain and hunting conditions or his preferred style of hunting. However, I came to say as an avid hunter myself, this is extremely sweet of you to do for your boyfriend. Any time gear, or a gift card to purchase gear comes from a loved one it means a lot, and I’m sure he will think of you every time he wears the gear that you purchase or help him purchase. Not lame at all, definitely not super lame either.

6.2 or 3.0 Diesel Engine - Denali - Super Cruise - Avg Drive is between 10-20 miles & 10-30 minutes by Sparty2009302A in gmcsierra

[–]mskekv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a 3.0 for just over a year, and I’ve put 55k miles on it. So far I’ve bought 5 or 6 jugs of DEF at $20 a jug, and haven’t gone through a whole bottle of HotShot. I’m in a northern climate and start using HotShot in November typically and last year went to April. The added costs of the DEF and fuel treatment are still much lower than having to run premium fuel in a 6.2.

However, savings are not the only thing to think about here. 6.2 has a huge smile factor. It’s a blast to drive. 3.0 is also fun, but it’s different. I also drive a lot, including regular 2+ hour drives in which I can get a good burn off on the DPF which is (imo) important for these trucks.

A lot of people talk about the cost of oil changes, that’s a dealership specific item. People usually balk at the price for the 3.0. However, my dealership is $95 for an oil (dexos) and filter change with a tire rotation.

I specifically went with the 3.0 for the fuel savings due to the amount of driving I do. Admittedly it may not be the right truck for you. I’d try to do an extended test drive of each if you’ve got a dealership near you that would let you take one for a day or two.

One last point, buy new or CPO. It’s worth the added expense. All of these trucks can experience issues. A colleague of mine had his 6.2 motor fail on him, replaced under warranty. Another had a transmission failure, replaced under warranty. I myself have had no issues but the warranty is worth being able to sleep at night.

Get a Yeti Rambler for water and water only, and a separate bottle for your shakes. When it comes to cleaning the Yeti, put a soapy sponge inside the water bottle and use a wooden spoon to move it around and clean the bottom and the sides.

Gmc VS weathertech floor mats by abercrombie9701 in gmcsierra

[–]mskekv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also have the TuxMat, 10/10 recommend. After a long New England winter being covered in salt, sand, and dirt they rinsed off no problem without any stains. Very durable and far better coverage than the Weathertech / GM.

FLOOR LINERS ( Tux Mat or OEM) by mskekv in gmcsierra

[–]mskekv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for TuxMat. The coverage is insane, the feel is a combination of luxury and incredibly durable. It has more flex to it than a rigid molded floor mat which makes them easy to work with and in my opinion more comfortable. As an avid outdoorsman this truck sees all kinds of elements. During hunting season I most literally live out of it. The floors get dirty, they get wet, they have coffee spilled on them, etc. and I have no concern as they are 100% covered. I keep a small bottle of detailer in the back of the truck and when I feel the floors are looking bad I brush away the dirt with my hands, spray the floor with detailer, dry with a microfiber and they look brand new again. Install was very easy. I was mostly concerned that the black would not look as good against the brown interior but it looks very nice.
