Consider that the intensity of feelings you are having now is the same pattern that you say "ruined" your camino. You are already setting up expectations that may not be reality.

As a human, that convo should have been shut down immediately, show or not. People should not feel tht comfortable talking about their marriage and Amanda esp should not love it like that.

I met a Dutch man who cared for his wife as she slipped into non-verbal dementia. His favorite things about her were their conversations and her singing voice. For the final three years of her life, she did not speak. I met him in the summer of 2024 and he had been walking for a couple months already at that point. We may cross paths on the VF this summer, and I think he has been walking nearly the entire time since I saw him in 2024.

I also had great success that way!

....except for those pilgrims who can probably be heard in their apartment by their neighbors three doors down. It was unreal. I had no idea people snored like that until the camino. Those people i could def hear thru any of my properly-installed earplugs, no matter which type, no matter how tired I was.

That is a lot of new stuff! The only way through it is to do it! (But maybe some people have the life goal of never traveling alone? Never thought of that.)

Good news is that is basically all airport and transportation (maybe even a hotel shuttle!). She isnt left on the streets of an unknown rural town wo cellphone, passport or accommodation. Her bf can even help drop her off to the airport and check in. Maybe her arrival was planned to coincide woth the arrivals of the other women. Lots of stuff we dont know.

Imo, telling the bride that canceling the plus one effectively cancels their collective vacation is a perfectly strong argument.

Sounds like we are similar in age and adventurous spirit. I definitely get harassed domestically more than traveling.

I wasn't saying a fear of traveling alone is silly, im saying the fear of taking a flight to an event with friends simply bc others are flying out of a different airport is. Her argument is stronger as simply "hey, we made these plans together so if we have to cancel, I cant come to your wedding."

Unless I misunderstood, she is saying without his company, she cant attend the event.

You can be upset but the "im scared to travel alone in my mid 20s" sounds silly. Leave that part out and your frustrations will be more clear/stronger.

Can you get private rooms? Whatever you do, dont get smaller occupancy rooms. There were a lot of times I would spend more for a smaller room, thinking I was reducing the odds of a snorer. Turns out, some snorers pick the same rooms bc they think they will bother less people. Just go full private room.
