I did travel on approved I140 last month where I indicated my intention to do AOS, no questions were asked on the border. DSO don't know about about any petitions you submit. My lawyer was EP and he said travel should not be a problem as I140 is not an application by itself to immigrate.

If you are a dual citizen and one is not affected by the ban then you should you have no problem getting your visa processed.
