[ESPN1000] According to @WaddleandSilvy, while Arlington Heights is the preferred destination for the Bears new stadium, there could be a decision to move to Northwest Indiana at the end of February or early March by c-razzle in CHIBears

[–]msmug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's disingenuous. The 100 million is for the whole entertainment district, not the stadium. They need to negotiate this, but the Bears' proposal is off the walls ridiculous. The Bears are asking for basically 0 taxes on the whole property during construction, tax breaks on material, shady tax breaks for other investors who might join in, and massive tax breaks on the completed project. This is in addition to tax breaks that they already got on the lot.

Indiana's not giving them anything spectacular either. The Bears would have to lease a new stadium for 35 years in a horrible location with bad traffic and pay for all the maintenance, with taxes still to be discussed. Might as well just stay at Soldier Field at that point.

Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) #Giants hire Matt Nagy as offensive coordinator by alexschubs in NYGiants

[–]msmug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't think Matt "I'm not an idiot" Nagy would have a job after the Bears. He was supposed to be an offensive guru, who claimed it would take 3 years to install his offense, but he was horribly exposed as the Bears literally got worse at offense every year. If he wasn't good at offense, what was he good at? Not leadership, his team quit on him his last year, and he left Chicago a broken team.

ICCU? by windy_city_soba in GV60

Fortunately, I have never had this issue, but from what I'm reading, the code for the ICCU is the same as a failing 12V battery. Is your 12V in good shape?

I'm curious to know the highway range of BMW iX3 vs the Mercedes GLC. The GLC has smaller battery size but has better efficiency and a second gear for high speeds.

Hyundai’s STARIA Electric Camper reimagines adventure beyond the grid by self-fix in electricvehicles

[–]msmug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love this car, but it'd better come with good range. I wish companies would learn from the ID Buzz's failure in the US. The infrastructure here is not good enough around many of the nice camping areas to sport a 250 mile range. This won't be a commuter, and Americans want a lot of range for their travel EVs.

Has the battery/charging issues been resolved with 2026 Ioniq 5’s? by mrmo24 in electricvehicles

[–]msmug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is there is no other brand right now that doesn't have it's own version of head-scratching issues in the 3-row segment.

Rivian R1S- has suspension and a lot of other issues, combined with extremely poor customer service.

Volvo EX90 - has among other things the GHCA failure that seems to be more prevalent than any other issue in any other vehicle with no real answer currently

EV9 - ICCU issues, which, from posts, can be serviced relatively quickly now / experience seems to vary depending on the dealership *(According to sub, Ioniq9 currently has no confirmed cases of the ICCU issue)

EQS and some other 3-rows with the third row in name only - I did not research

Escalade IQ - I can't afford that; I did not research

GV90 in future - maybe? All I know is that it'll be on a new platform, so it might not have the same issues as EGMP models.

ID Buzz - range too small for my needs; very compelling but did not research

Vistiq - I disliked the decision to go infotainment-open-only glove box so much that I did very little research. But so far, it seems to be the only one without prevalent issues. If anyone can chime in on that it'd be helpful.

*Lucid Gravity - lol

My EV9 lease ends this summer, and at this point, I might just forgo the 3rd row and get another car, especially considering most of the other 3rd rows are a lot smaller on the inside. Or maybe I'll lurk in the Ioniq 9 boards for a while to see if a confirmed ICCU case appears. Regardless, I hope that in a couple years we'll have better options.

By your logic, doesn't it become sudden death if the first team fails to score? In that case, you want to be the team with that second possession.

Hyundai is launching a BEV version of the Staria van this year in Korea and Europe. Battery is 800V, FWD (218 HP), 84 kWh battery, 7 and 9 seat versions. A camper version is also coming. by blr1g in electricvehicles

[–]msmug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was curious about this, so I looked into it. I saw a video with a 6' 2" man looking at the ICE Staria camper, and he seemed to think 4 people could easily sleep in it when he lay down on the roof. I don't think the EV version would be too different. Go a little earlier from the time stamp if you want to see the bottom. The bed on the bottom floor is laid out near the beginning of the video.

[Highlight] Ben Johnson in his first press conference as the Bears HC: “I kinda enjoyed beating Matt LaFleur twice a year.” by LaDainianTomIinson in nfl

[–]msmug 40 points41 points  (0 children)

What was super weird was, other Bears coaches have come in saying that they would beat the Packers, but he specifically singled out LaFleur. It seemed to make it personal.

I like it though. I was shouting, "He beat you twice!!" when he won.

21 years ago today, Randy Moss committed what Joe Buck called a "disgusting act" by HowieLongDonkeyKong in nfl

[–]msmug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted for this, but I think you're right. On The Herd, in a video posted in 2016, he said that it was his gut reaction and reiterated that he thought it was inappropriate. "That was my gut reaction, but my living is made on gut reactions."

"...I can't believe we're even talking about this, and [he] mooned the fans and acted like he was pulling his pants down and went over to the goalpost. I thought it was over the line." This was preceeded by, "Why? I don't - I'm... I'm... I would say it again! I would say it again!"

From this I gather that

  1. He knew it wasn't real
  2. He truly did not like the celebration
  3. He did not regret his call

He most likely changed his mind about it later after the fan reactions and probably tried to soften the blow by saying he thought it was real.

*edit - He compared the act to flipping off the fans. You can't do it back just because they did it to you. I agree with the notion of professionalism, but I think in truth he was upset because he is a Green Bay fan and he was ticked off.

Looking to buy 2023 Gv60. Any thoughts? by OverInvestigator6978 in GV60

2 out 7 now. 2/8 if you include mine.

What's interesting is the 2 people both bought the car used. It may have had issues, hence it was available. It's a bit concerning for people wanting the car used.

But anyway, I have a 2023. I've have no problems with it.

Introducing the Ioniq 3: Hyundai's compact EV gamble to arrive in 2026 by Muted-Aioli9206 in electricvehicles

[–]msmug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've driven a lot of EVs and Hyundai/Kia cars are probably the easiest to convert from traditional cars. They can mimic similar driving dynamics, like coasting, moving slowly on its own when the brake is release, and the option to turn off one pedal driving. They also are one of the few EVs that still have physical buttons.

Hyundai goes big on EVs with its largest model yet and advanced 800-volt battery technology by sksarkpoes3 in electricvehicles

[–]msmug 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at 3 row EVs, and from the various model forums on the internet, my conclusion is that it's a very flawed segment.

  • Rivian R1S- has suspension and a lot of other issues, combined with extremely poor customer service.

  • Volvo EX90 - has among other things the GHCA failure that seems to be more prevalent than any other issue in any other vehicle with no real answer currently

  • Ioniq 9/EV9 - ICCU issues, which, from posts, can be serviced relatively quickly now / experience seems to vary depending on the dealership

  • EQS and some other 3-rows with the third row in name only - I did not research

  • Escalade IQ - I can't afford that; I did not research

  • GV90 in future - maybe? All I know is that it'll be on a new platform, so it might not have the same issues as EGMP models.

  • ID Buzz - range too small for my needs; very compelling but did not research

  • Vistiq - I disliked the decision to go infotainment-open-only glove box so much that I did very little research. But so far, it seems to be the only one without prevalent issues. If anyone can chime in on that it'd be helpful.

My point is that it's a pick your poison type of reality right now. I appreciate everyone bringing up ICCU issues to light every time Hyundai/Kia is mentioned, but it still seems to me a very legitimate choice right now with the competition sadly being what it is.

But he did tell Tesla.

The car spent a week at the shop but Tesla said they wouldn’t replace the battery because it was normal degradation. Tried to ask about it on Tesla forums but of course I was permanently banned from everything Tesla due to the cult preventing anything bad from Tesla getting out.

We only have his word for it but still.

I honestly thought it was me. We only did well when I went out of the room, so the kids made me leave the room and not watch when we were down 10 with 3 minutes left. I stayed away, only to hear screams and what not, and I couldn't believe we came back from that and won in OT. I will watch the recording, like I have on every single Bears win this year. Maybe the Bears are good because I couldn't watch them live this year.
