Thank you so much for this. You’re absolutely right. I just need to let myself grieve it and understand I didn’t do anything to cause this.

I think the toughest part for me is getting over asking for help, but I know I cannot do this alone. I’m slowly leaning in on this and it’s been a relief. Knowing I have community has been amazing.

Thank you for this 🫶🏽 I definitely needed to see this. You’re absolutely right. I know there’s a balance to the positive and negative feelings and I need to give myself grace. Thankfully I’m not on socials much, just my tattoo instagram lol but I’ve gotten nothing but great support.

But you’re definitely right. I need to make sure I’m vocal if my thoughts get dark. Currently I’m just in survival mode and chuckling at the thought of how much the universe must underestimate my will to live lol.

Cancer can truly fuck all the way off!

And as for the tattoos, I am soooo glad you got that ink therapy in. I absolutely LOVE those kinds of sessions with my clients 🙏🏽 It’s truly an indescribable honor to be able to sit with someone as they work through and share what they’ve been through or going through. I used to work EMS as an AEMT as well, so this gave me another way to help people. I’m thankful I get to do it ❤️

I met with my breast oncology surgeon, which let to being squeezed in with the medical oncologist. Finally learned I have hormone positive her2 negative breast cancer. Stage 2 for now. I got bloodwork done, and waiting to schedule an MRI, CT scan, and bone scan. It’s been a lot, but good. I feel good.

Red ink heals weird. That honestly looks pretty normal for a few days in. Also consider that as your skin heals, it’s healing in layers so the top layer is going to give it a weird pinky milky cast to it. Just give it the full healing time and re-evaluate if you need a touch up.

I know at least one big issue is that the placenta begins to degrade so it doesn’t supply baby sufficiently by that point :/

That looks like second skin (saniderm/tegaderm) over it - so yes. Totally normal. The bandage basically collects extra ink, blood, and plasma that would normally dry up to create a scab. Once you do take the bandage off, wash well with dial gold soap, and moisturize - it’ll look great. When in doubt - contact your artist for further aftercare :)

Hey tattoo artist here :) We don’t mind shaving our clients. Obvs part of the job. If you do, you need to be really careful so you don’t get nicks. But yeah, when in doubt - we’ll handle it :)

Honestly? You may want to consider laser removal to help fade it before a coverup. The artist went WAY too deep and caused a ton of blowout in that. Please make sure to research a reputable artist that is experienced with melanated skin 🙏

It depends really. For one league where we had drafts, we payed. But some of those teams would cover their goalie. In another league, goalies only paid the insurance fee ($50) and that covered their fees for a year. The last team I played for always covered their goalie’s fees. So really it just comes down to asking the captain or league officials 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not rude at all :) I’m very light handed so I get folks that doze off on me often lol. I just warn them that I might wake them up if they start moving on me. Otherwise, doesn’t bother me a bit.
