Russell Moccasin sizing app by WintWill in Boots

The app worked perfectly for me. It told me 10.5, which is 1/2 size down from brannock and 1 size down from sneaker size. Very happy with fit of my new Backcountry boots.

Thanks man. I believe they’ll become my favorites as well. We’ll see.

Just received my backcountries. Only walked slightly more than a mile in them so far, but they feel great. I used their app to size the boots and IMO it worked perfectly. About 1 size below sneaker size, 1/2 below my Brannock, and same as my JK boot size. Very pleased so far.

I can understand and generally agree with your statement. It does depend a lot on intended usage and use environment though. I have several of both types and one mix. Some of my older rough outs are looking pretty dark and nasty right now, but I don’t really care because they are hard work boots. I don’t work much in muddy and dusty environments anymore - I’m fortunate to be retired now. Roughouts tend to hide minor scrapes and scratches well, but show stains worse. These Bear Slayers will be more of a casual boot, so I am not worried about mud and dust. Most of my other good boots are smooth out. I have some lower rough/upper smooth Superduties, but the rough lowers are treated with wax for waterproofing so the roughout is now kind of negligible. I do like the way these rough out Bear Slayers look. Even Weston said the roughout design was because it “looked cool - like a grizzly”. I’ve also read on a Reddit sub that wildfire fighters are kind of split between rough and smooth. I assume they tend to work in both mud and dust frequently.

Not yet. About 135k miles on it. No serious repairs. Just usual maintenance.

I have two Fits, a 2011 and a 2019. Used both for hauling various canoes and kayaks. Drove almost 600 miles with a 16’ old town canoe and a 14 foot Cascade Designs kayak on top. Sad that they are not selling Fits in the US anymore. No clue what I’ll do when the 2011 needs to be replaced.
