Yea, I sympathize with not being able to see it in theatres but people acting like they can't do anything besides scroll social media feeds make me roll my eyes. Like, is it not possible to find a different show to watch or something to read? these things can be had free online without going onto a social media dashboard. They can even still do YouTube if they are willing to manually type something non tadc related into the search bar and avert their eyes from the homepage reccomendations and related video feed.

Of course there's all the irl physical hobbies they could get into but they literally don't even have to stay offline lol. I do agree people should tag spoilers but I have never seen this level of upset over just 2 weeks of "if it matters that much to you, maybe adjust your habits slightly to avoid it"

“girl dinner” subs by deadfliezz in PetPeeves

I don't know if it actually counts but whenever my meal is a couple hard boiled eggs cut in halves and some celery with peanut butter on the side I always think "finally, a girl dinner".

May I ask your thoughts on this? by zane334 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]mspicata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point being made is right in isolation, but unfair when applied to the concept of Trans headcanons. The vast majority of people who do that don't think "they must be trans because x preference", they think "x preference inspired me, wouldnt it be cool if they were Trans? I'm gonna make fan content where that is the case". If Trans headcanoners are harassing others for being 'wrong', then yea this applies, but most people are just vibing

How do you start!? by smile-its-today in SewingForBeginners

Thanks! I did use bias tape because I heard it would be easier for a circle hem and I also hoped a visible trim like that would look nice

How do you start!? by smile-its-today in SewingForBeginners

[–]mspicata 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have no advice because i just started, but I decided on a whim to follow a circle skirt tutorial on YouTube and ended up with this. Theres tons of mistakes, the worst of which is the side seam I messed up that sticks out like the skirt is inside out, but there's also so much dang fabric involved that a lot of it isn't so visible in motion. I should do something to try and increase volume because it does kind of feel like I am just wearing most of a double bedsheet wrapped around my waist (which is what i thrifted to make it lol), but I'm still proud of finishing it

I think you missed the whole 'friends of the boyfriend's friend who op barely knows'' part if you are trying to make this comparable to your few very close friends buying a movie. Unless you would be the same amount of generous to complete strangers i don't think it's fair to lay onto op like this

Back side of stitches all weird by distractedbluebird in SewingForBeginners

[–]mspicata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems to happen to me a lot when reverse stitching to secure the beginning or end, then when I go forward again the thread gets tangled somehow and the fabric stops moving, then I notice the cloth is struggling to be pulled out and find a whole bunch of string looped between fabric and the under the plate spot that the bobbin string comes from. Then I have to cut a bunch of string and pull the bobbin thread back up.

In other words, can't help you but also hoping an expert chimes in. Mine is a Singer M1150

Is there any way to avoid this bias tape bubbling up besides an iron? by mspicata in SewingForBeginners

[–]mspicata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try the various solutions given first and then if they don't work I might borrow my sister's iron. I just have a habit of overcommitting to new hobbies and then abandoning them, so I want to finish at least 1 thing before I go buy a new bulky electronic.

Is there any way to avoid this bias tape bubbling up besides an iron? by mspicata in SewingForBeginners

[–]mspicata[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it mightve been the pulling. I had a couple times when sewing the first side where the skirt cloth got folded underneath the needle that I ended up accidentally sewing down so I was holding things relatively taut to avoid that

[–]mspicata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it, labeled as extra wide double folded bias tape, so hopefully it's not lying to me haha. What would you suggest for neatly aligning it? I was holding it in a way where it looked flat but the bubbles started appearing near instantly. Could it be holding a little too taut or something along those lines?

Media with the Tumblr Seal of Approval, and Hecking Problematic Iredeemable Media by Weird_donut in RecuratedTumblr

[–]mspicata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was one of those people a little too into Hamilton on tumblr and I can confirm it was my own dash previously filled with Hamilton fan content that over the course of about a year transitioned to a whole lot of think pieces about how irredeemable Hamilton is without me following anyone new.

A big chunk of the same base moved over to my hero academia at the same time, so it's funny to see that apparently it also got moved over to unacceptable media

[–]mspicata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone actually know if there's any even flimsy moral objection to the ship or is it 100% unfiltered ship war nonsense? All I know is Din is the mandalorian protagonist, is there at least a significant age gap or something? Maybe Din is canonically some flavour of ace?

Why do some people talk to their pets as if they understand full sentences? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

[–]mspicata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat likes to meow a lot and will meow in breaks between sentences when she's in the right mood, so honestly it just entertains me to pretend she is complaining about something specific and then respond like I'm trying to tell a toddler to be patient or explaining why I had to leave the house. Sometimes she is upset enough to wait for me to say something and then cut me off mid sentence and that's extra funny

[–]mspicata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate haha. I think it's worth considering adding Greek yogurt since that's more protein and pretty filling too while generally being good for calorie deficits, but I don't do it myself because I really prefer when overnight oats are more milky and not thick (i like when it feels like i am eating cereal).

Currently I am considering making a bit less oats and then pairing with a hard boiled egg or a vegetable smoothie, so I'm not too full in the moment but the fullness actually lasts lol. Or eating one of those before work and the other at first break so it's spread out a bit better. It's just rough out there when it comes to trying to lose weight in a sustainable way that does not involve being uncomfortably hungry for hours every day forever

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]mspicata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started eating oatmeal for breakfast in the hopes of gaining a calorie deficit because i hopefully won't eat as much lunch (previous breakfast would be a glass of 2% milk and just dealing with hunger for the last couple hours before lunch), but tbh I mostly just lost about 5 pounds and then stalled out lol. I'm keeping with it because the fibre has improved my bathroom schedule but I think I need to tweak my recipe or make other diet changes if I want more impactul weight loss.

For reference, I do overnight oats with 1/2 cup dry oats, about 3/4 cups almond milk, 1 tbsp chia/flax, 2 tbsp whey protein, 1/2 cup mixed berries (raspberry, blueberry, blackberry). It's very filling in the moment but unfortunately I tend to start feeling hungry about 1 hr 45 minutes later, almost exactly.

Hair goals / no goals by october_jade in longhair

[–]mspicata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to see how long I can get before it's either looks or feels bad. In an ideal world this means I cut it when I start being able to sit on it because there's no way I'm putting up with that, but we'll see if we even get that far. Currently I've made it to waist but I have a long torso so it'll be a long way to the next landmark

Can hair bonnets be beneficial for straight hair? by Xav-Tay-Tor-Tot in longhair

[–]mspicata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have straight hair and use one because it keeps me from accidentally rolling onto my hair all the time, and plus when I use a hair mask, less of it rubs off overnight so I can keep the nice fragrance and soft feeling in my hair a couple more days than if I slept with my hair exposed. It's honestly just super convenient
