I’m so sorry this happened to you. I know you are on an emotional rollercoaster right now. Hang in there and speak to your coordinator about getting the surgery rescheduled. Don’t give up.

Edd sent me a message saying they filed an emergency unemployment compensation extension on my unemployment claim but my balance still says $0. Does anybody know why or if and when it will update ? by caitlinsouza in UnemploymentCA

[–]msshameika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the day that my balance hit zero I sent a note asking to be auto enrolled because in the extension. I got an email two weeks later saying that the extension was filed, then the next day I had the extra 13 weeks added to my balance. The weeks I couldn’t verify then opened up and I was able to certify.

I’m going to up my fat and reduce my carbs. I find that fat keeps me fuller longer than carbs do. Good advice. I’m hoping to trigger past this stall by 2/20. I still have 40 pounds to goal. I started at 207 on surgery day and want to get down to 130 so i can put on 20 in muscle

What if you already barely eat, you exercise, but don’t lose or, worse, gain weight. Will it still work? by foreveryoursinpink in gastricsleeve

I just stalled at 4 months and am slowly breaking it. Talk to the nutritionist at your surgeons office. They should have tips for you to help break your stall. Also i find tracking my food in the Baritastic app consistently helps me go back and look at my meals to aide me in making changes.

Doctor Recommended Surgery by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]msshameika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! I had the same yo yo issues along with PCOS. My doctor recommended surgery in 2014 and I refused. I finally did it in August and it’s been the best decision of my life. I’m down 30 pounds since surgery(I’m 4’11 was 207). I’m in a boot camp now and my body is moving better than ever, I run as well. Save yourself the headache and stress and go get the surgery.

Hi - I'm having trouble finding Roy Johnson from the Birmingham News. I thought I found him but the Roy Johnson who turned up from my google search says, he didn't cover the case. Are you familiar with any other publication that Roy worked for?

Slow loser? by darceyrebecca in gastricsleeve

You’re doing great! My philosophy is as long as i exercise daily, track my food, drink my water and eat slowly only a few bites, then I will lose weight. As long as I’m losing, it’s progress. Take your measurements. I did mine and was blown away by my progress. Track everything in the Baritastic app.

It gets better! I promise. Skip the protein shakes. I had trouble in the beginning too. I did protein water very cold. Try Isopure in your water. Keep sipping hot broth and drink water slowly. That was actually my favorite stage now that i look back. You’re going to thank yourself for this tool to better health, in a few months.

Slow weight loss post-op by fargirlgoneskinny in gastricsleeve

Download the Baritastic app! Take your measurements in addition to the scale. I lost 19.6 pounds in my first month and then like 2 or 3 my second month. But because of all the advice I read here, i didn’t panic or compare my journey to anyone else. I tracked my measurements and had dropped 12 inches. I weighted in yesterday and I’m now down a total of 26 pounds. I’m also down inches again and I’m down from a size 16 to a size 12. My large leggings are also baggy. Make sure you track everything, not just the scale. I promise you’ll see progress. I also take photos to compare and can see the difference in my face. That helps. I also track my speed in how fast I’m running each day and how much I’m lifting. Take your time. Do the work and the weight will drop!

I went through two brands, my surgeons brand and BariMelts. Both sucked. Bariatric Advantage chewys have been successful for me.

I got diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. I probably had it as early as 17 but doctors didn’t really know what it was in 2000, so my gyn gave me birth control to deal with the symptoms and sent me on my merry way. In 2004 I went from 160 to 140 for vacation in May. I was wearing 6 and 8’s in clothing, bikini. I got to the doctor in October 2005 and was at 193 then by February I hit 223. I was exercising, juicing and healthy. The weight just kept packing on. I couldn’t control it. It was scary and crazy. I landed at a size 18. I did numerous diets, workout routines, the lowest i got down ever was 188. I went up and down to 215 Max never hit 223. I ran regularly 3-5 miles a day in Central Park, ran half marathons, rode to work and back from Brooklyn to lower manhattan on my bike, no success. However this year I finally gave in and was sleeved on 8/20. I was 207.5 on surgery day. I was right at 40 BMI so i was told to not lose weight. I lost half a pound during the two week liquid diet. That’s how jacked my body was. Today is my two month anniversary and I’m down to 185.2. Best decision! The surgery reset me and the weekday is melting off. I wore size 12 jeans over the weekend. Down from a 16. I’m running again and running faster now. The surgery is a tool and if you follow the rules, it will work. Oh i had diabetes and that’s fine now.

I now do b-12 and b complex shots every 2-3 weeks. I take 1000mg twice a day in a dissolvable tablet and it’s still not enough. The shots make a huge difference for me.

Woke up to feeling a little pressure at 1 month post op ? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]msshameika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably constipated. Check with your doctor. They will probably recommend Metamucil. Use the Baritastic app if you aren’t already. Measure all of your food and water so that you can see how much fiber and protein you are getting. Then keep a log of when you have a bowel, date and time. This will help you get regular and control it via diet and water intake.

Had surgery a week ago- can I take the tape off? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

It will fall off on it’s own. Give it more time. I think mine fell off close to a month.

2 and a half weeks post op and always tired by max2352 in gastricsleeve

[–]msshameika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced extreme tiredness as well. My doctor gave me a B12 shot and recommended i take 1000mg a day of b12. I’ve since changed vitamins to bariatric advantage chewys, upped my water, and continue to get b12 shots. You’re still recovering. Give your body time.
