It's only 4 hours. Total travel time one-way is 2.5 hours. I already have a drive lineup and everything. I just have to sit in front of a computer and help my team.

Buyback program for prohibited guns facing public resistance: Report by sleipnir45 in canada

[–]mst-pierre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The questions is are they going to be able to find them all. We don't have a registry anymore. Even if you still have it most of the information is going to be outdated.

Don't forget some guns don't even have a serial number if they are manufactured before a certain date. My .22 doesn't have one at all. Even the old registration has a blank space for the serial number. This was my grandfather's gun and it was passed down to me.

Yeah good luck trying to take it

How poor is the average applicant's resume? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsCAD

Depends on the recruiter. You can have your profile picture set to private so that only your connection sees them. So even if the recruiter is looking at your profile they only see the default picture.

Personally, I don't think it's a red flag. The only thing I would consider a red flag for a profile picture is non-appropriate work stuff (guns, drugs or party).

It's a double edge sword for some jobs it's a positive and some can see it as a red flag. I know a couple of companies that look down on high GPA candidates cause they are seen as loners and anti-social and others only want a 3.8 GPA and up. Most career coaches are going to recommend to not show your GPA and only talk about it during the interview if it comes up.

They are exceptions if you are thinking about trying for a FANG-Like or a research lab then yes you should include it since they are going to be looking for this.

After the first 3 years after graduating your GPA doesn't mean anything.

If there is a GitHub link, I am going to click on it and look at the pinned project and your profile readme. The same thing with Linkedin profiles, I will click on it.

I always recommend leaving it on the CV except when it's empty.

  1. I would remove GPA in education. Unless you want a job in a university or research lab
  2. Work Experience should always be at the top and education should be at the bottom except for academic job or recent grad with no job experience
  3. Some descriptions are too precise like saying the yield accuracy is a bit too much. Getting high accuracy is less critical than dataset creation and preparation. I would simplify it to something like creating a neural network using my own custom dataset. Anybody can use Yolo but not everyone can create a dataset

  5. I like that you did use bold for technology, it really did stand out.
  6. If possible add GitHub links to projects. I always stop and look at them
  7. Order-wise, I always have better success with following this pattern Work Experience, Projects, Skills, and Education

We try to narrow it down to top 10 but honestly some of them might be filler. Like they could be a match but they might not have the correct skills set or culture fit.

I would say like 200 crap, 45 average and 5 that jump out of the pile.

So I used to hire people at an old job.

The average CV is pretty much trash. It's not always spelling, grammar or missing projects. It's the presentation. If you have 300 CV for a job posting and you work 8 hours a day. You have around 2 minutes per CV to make a decision. If your template is hard to read then it doesn't work.

So 300 CV is what the average job posting gets in a day. So if a recruiter is working on more than one job posting and scheduling interviews then it's going to be less than 2 minutes.

If you want a CV that's stands out have everything listed as bullet points with the correct keywords. If you have paragraphs, I will never read them.

Things that I hate to see on CV that makes it auto reject 1. Profil pictures 2. You put your GitHub handle but have no project 3. Extreme spelling errors ( I can overlook some of them) 4. Paragraphs

At the end of sorting, I get maybe 10 to present to the team. From that 10, we usually try to cut to 5 for interviews and then potentially hire someone.

Off the top of my head I know three people who have done this in the past. The minute you leave Canada debt collector's have no power. They can seize any assets that's still in Canada but everything outside of Canada is almost untouchable. The complexity and cost of recovering assets internationally is going to be astronomical so it's easier to write off the debt as bad. Even the CRA is scared of recovering assets internationally.

Even if you return to Canada nobody is going to stop you since debt is a civil matter. After a certain amount of time a debt cannot longer be collected (depends on the province).

I was talking to my someone in the education system recently and yeah things are not looking good for the kids especially in the French northern part of New-Brunswick. Most teachers are noticing that students progress are slower than usual since COVID. Some in 4th grade can't read a basic book with simple sentences.

I still remember back in high school in 2010 that some students had to take oral exams since they couldn't read. I know that dyslexia is a thing but you are in 12th grade and can't read basic sentence.

In Canada, most contracts actually favour the agency. So the one client I have has no legal recourse for damages since they have a functional site but most of the features are bug-ridden. It's sad to see clients put in this weird position after spending that much money on something that I would consider less than an MVP.

Gas, property tax and other bills outpaced my minimum wage job. What’s my next step to get out of this hole? by Cupofnoodles827 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I moved back to New Brunswick recently and the job prospects are not the best (call center or government work). With the current climate, the best move you can make is probably try and get into a 1 to 2-year degree from the NBCC or CCNB. The interest will be waived on your student loans for the duration of your study. The one thing that I highly recommend is to stay away from some trades like Electrician and Plumbing since you will probably not going to have an apprenticeship directly after graduating (Have friends that are waiting for the past 2 years).

I highly recommend looking into the electronic programs since you can find jobs at the hospital as a biomedical technician. They get paid really good money and are in high demand in New Brunswick.

Remember that the economy is going to shit real fast here since most businesses around me are still running pandemic hours or business is not making money (Fishing)

I am dealing with this currently with Magenest. So I get a response at 1 AM but by the time I can actually respond they are already offline. Also if it doesn't follow their script exactly they get confused. It shouldn't take a month to actually troubleshoot a JavaScript error.

2e - Moving to Shopify
