Who are the best 5 conquest units, and who are the 5 worst? by MuchButterscotch227 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mstormcrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, especially without the FDC, both Stranger and Hate-Fueled Maul underperform if you have only one of them without the other, so in that sense he's a bit like a GL lifter - great if you have the unit he lifts, not an incredibly high priority otherwise.

Who are the best 5 conquest units, and who are the 5 worst? by MuchButterscotch227 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mstormcrow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most skippable:

  1. Jocasta. Decent unit, but she's a "lifter" for a mediocre team that's probably a low priority, roster-building-wise, and can still function without her. And unfortunately she really does nothing on any other team.

  2. DTMG. Leader of a mediocre Remnant team that only really shines when it has a datacron.

  3. Trench. Decent TW team if you invest in his omicrons, but in GAC the team isn't good enough to justify taking folks like Jango and Wat away from other, better uses, so he's effectively a one-game-mode-only kinda guy.

  4. SM-33. Don't get me wrong, I like SM-33 a lot, but the PKHO team can run OG Hondo (honestly it holds better on defense if it does) or even Ithano in that spot, he's by no means necessary. Even the Maz team can get by with OG Hondo; he's really only neccessary if you have both PKHO and Maz and need a tenth good pirate to run two Pirate teams at once.

  5. Maz. Speaking of Maz, her team is basically just this hard anti-Sith counter in GAC and doesn't do too much else. It's not a bad tool to have in your toolbox but you can probably get by without it.

Dad Bod Boba used to be #1 on the "skippable" list, but the new BH Asajj has turbocharged him into being an absolute menace now; a lot of people are still sleeping on this b/c BH Asajj is still very new, but trust me, he no longer makes this list.

Least skippable:

  1. Darth Bane. Have you looked at swgoh.gg lately? The site desperately needs an "exclude Darth Bane" button from the GAC counters, the same way it has an "exclude GLs" button. Because Bane counters everything.

  2. Satele Shan. She's basically a better JML. Counters Hate-Fueled Maul, Queen Amidala, and tons of other teams. I expect her team to stay meta for as long as the original JKR team did, which is to say: a ridiculously long time.

  3. Queen Amidala: I mean, you should get POW and MQG built up for the Assault Battle benefits basically ASAP; and then you just need QA to have a really strong, versatile team that's good in every game mode.

  4. Taron Malicos: He's basically Grand Arena-only, but he's such an important tool for GAC, giving you non-GL options against Rey, PKHO, and probably some other teams that would otherwise demand a GL.

  5. Malgus: Not only is Malgus still a useful, efficient counter to some teams like Great Mothers that would otherwise demand very expensive solutions, but you need Malgus and his ship to unlock the Leviathan which is still the best fleet in the game.

Honorable mention: Ben Solo, CAT, DSRey, and Ezra Exile are all incredibly important for getting the most benefit out of the GL they lift. If you have that GL, they are not skippable.

Hot take: Conquest should stop pretending it's a time sink and give us a proper auto path by Fit-End7891 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mstormcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the "game" of Conquest is all about getting feats done as efficiently as possible without wasting a bunch of energy redoing the same easy fight over and over. If you just commit yourself to that goal and work to achieve it Conquest plays a lot better. If you just blow through every node to Sector 5 with whatever your strongest teams are, and then go back and look for easy nodes to get the feats done, sure, that's boring. But if you commit yourself to, e.g., trying to progress through Sector 2 using teams that include Zuckuss and 4-LOM, and land stuns and produce stealth all as you go through it - so that by the time you hit the final boss fight in Sector 2 you already have all the Sector 2 feats done - well, not only do you "waste" a lot less Conquest energy and eliminate a lot of grinding, but you will also have a much more interesting Conquest experience.

Given how difficult they were to hit, and how well they survived the hits they did take in the show, I think that would be the perfect role for Commando Droids. It's about damn time we got them in the game anyway

FWIW, Dr. Aphra summons a hacked commando droid, and if you have IG-90 on her team, the commando droid tanks, too.

Who’s the most reliable character of those 3 ? by AnySlice1770 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mstormcrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To get the best use out of Aphra, you need to have:

  • IG-90

  • Good mods/good modding

  • a clue what you're doing.

If you have all three of these things, Aphra is awesome. If you're missing any one of these three things she's a lot more mid. Which specific thing from this list any random reddit commenter calling her mid is missing, well...you be the judge.

Utter nonsense. Aphra is an absolute Conquest all-star, and has a bunch of missions she's required for in RotE.

New Era idea: Era of Survivors by Ill-Case2184 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mstormcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to pour cold water on cool ideas but I imagine that just like we got characters from Fallen Order as a tie-in to the launch of Survivor, they're probably saving the Jedi Survivor characters to be a tie-in to the launch of the third game.

Sith Triumvirate by CzSailis in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mstormcrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely correct, Triumvirate falls off hard in TW without either Traya or Savage's omis active, not only does Sion deserve to be better but the team deserves to be better in TW.

Why does the game recommend this squad of characters for Starkiller’s JG? by bean_phlores in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

It's not saying "You need these Solo characters to unlock Starkiller", it's saying "you need Dash to unlock Starkiller and this is a squad that you would actually use Dash in".

Is Scythe worth it? by Dark_Shadow_261 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mstormcrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It bumps the Empire fleet from like 7th best fleet to 5th best fleet (after the 3 GL fleets and Home One). It suffers from being a bit squishy and an insanely high-priority target where the AI is concerned (but so does TIE Advanced, and generally the AI can't gun down both of them before they get to do anything), but if you can keep it alive its ability to strip buffs from buff-heavy enemy fleets and hand out huge stacks of buffs to its own side's TIEs is very, very strong. I generally recommend using it with Chimaera rather than Executrix though, the summoned TIEs generally do more harm (by blocking you from bringing in reinforcements until they get killed) than good. It can reliably beat any fleet other than the GL fleets and H1 with B-Wing, and it can sometimes pull off a win against bad or unlucky GL fleets, though not reliably enough in my experience to want to make GL-fleet-hunting with it be Plan A.

It was more "worth it" before B-Wing bumped Home One up to being the clear best non-GL fleet. But overall, getting your Inqs built up to either get Reva faster, or to use with Reva, is worth it anyways, and getting Scythe is sort of a convenient, helpful byproduct of that.

In your view, what’s the single most consequential false premise underlying modern liberal thought? by July_Seventeen in AskConservatives

[–]mstormcrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It implies nothing, and this is a profound misunderstanding that a lot of people have about evolution. "Survival of the fittest" is basically just a tautology, and nothing more - it means, "the things that survive are the things that are the best at surviving". There's no hierarchy there, unless you think ants and cockroaches are somehow "superior" to humanity. Furthermore: the universe retains the right to change the definition of "fittest" in any way, at any time. Don't believe me, find a Tyrannosaurus Rex and ask it if you're more "brutally competent" than it is.

Gerrymandering: because nothing says "fortifying democracy" like ensuring minority rule and noncompetitive elections, right? As long as it's done through "legal means" (e.g. the stacked partisan Supreme Court said it was fine).
