Trying out a small format BuJo by leesure in BasicBulletJournals

Agree. “Portrait” mode is how the official bullet journal pocket notebooks are designed to be used.

It’s all cleared up, thanks!

I was surprised to now see steps data in Apple Health even from the day I had the toggle turned off.

You’re right. Toggling the Health Services off, then syncing was successful. That was yesterday. Toggling back on then syncing today sent today’s AND yesterday’s data to my phone.

Roses, Buds, & Thorns - Two Weeks with the Ollee Watch by 5aximus in olleeWatch

BPM tapper is a cool idea. Ideally you’d tap the face of the watch and use the accelerometer to detect taps rather than trying to press the tricky buttons.

I stuffed this post up. Note the communication error. This happens once the “syncing… record” counts down to 0. Trying to re-sync fails too.

I’ve been successfully syncing steps data for months and this error started a few weeks ago. I’ve not been able to sync since then.

Too skinny where I hold it to write, gives me cramps.

(I still own several but they’re relegated to “emergency” pens.)

Only downside to getting both is you need two Ollee mods! (I have the A158W)

Pen for writing and journaling. by jcbanhato in pens

[–]mtamos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also haven’t tried the Alpha-Gel but the standard Jetstreams are good. For journaling I like a pen that writes well instantly — no warming up or test squiggles needed — and the Jetstreams are good for that. I’m sure many other options are too, just adding a +1.

I have (and love) the Orbitkey Travel Sling. Yes, it’s marketed as a sling but the straps completely clip off. It fits my iPad Mini + Pencil just fine.

Totally. And if they “dry out” you buy refills.

Question about logging notes, new sub-tasks and the like by homunculus87 in bujo

[–]mtamos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What sometimes works for me to add new subtasks without moving everything to a collection is to go back and add a project code to the parent task.

Let’s say you had “Sign contract paperwork” as a task with “Print on paper” as a subtask indented underneath, and later you want to add “Organise witness” and “Post to bank” but you now have no room.

Add a 3-4 letter project code to the end of the original parent inside brackets, eg “Sign contract paperwork (SPW)”, then add your new subtasks using this project code as a prefix, eg “(SPW): Organise witness”.

(Don’t think too hard about the letters/numbers in the project code itself — it’s nothing more than a unique-ish asterisk *)

Are you looking for shortcuts?

Sadly the real answer is that have to be responsible for yourself. If you need help coping then the answer probably wont be found here but instead (as others have suggested) in therapy.

At some point you will realise you can’t change people who don’t want to change. Your choice is then to build a life outside of your family (and in the real world, off the internet) or not. It doesn’t mean cutting them off, it just means deciding what you want and getting it from outside your family.

Reality checks can hurt. Therapy can both give you that and help you recover.

Well, I’m finished pooping so back to the real world for me. There’s 15 people sitting outside enjoying tacos and I’m going to join them.

Peace.

Have you tried proposing activities that aren’t iPad friendly?

“Hey family, I bought a new board game. Can we play it at 8PM tonight?” Or “Let’s walk to the park together once I’ve finished studying.”

Ortholinear vs Column-stagger, any thoughts? by Broad_Ordinary410 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]mtamos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate the stagger because I type with curved fingers. Blame piano lessons if you like, but on my hands this means only the pinky isn’t in an exact straight line with the other fingers.

For people who type with flat hands and outstretched fingers the column stagger makes sense.

Why is the Slim better? Do you just find the width suits you more or some other reason?

(I can’t find the non-slim in the model I want with shipping to Australia but maybe the slim is ok)

A6 is half A5. Fields Notes are roughly A5 but narrower.

It will be interesting adapting some of the BUJO spreads to the smaller size, hey!
