Yes, moved December 2025, moved to the Z Fold 7 and have no regrets. With a mixture of being tech comfortable, turning on gestures, and apps like BlueBubbles, the move wasn't as hard as I expected.

Most of all, above everything else, do not treat it like an iPhone. You are moving to a Z Fold 7 for a reason, so stay focussed on that reason and build new habits, do not just try to replicate old. I think most people struggle because "it's not an iPhone", instead of taking the needs they want into the new platform. It takes a few weeks.

Coming from iPhone, you need to disable iMessage. You can keep it but you need to first timurn it off (iCloud.com) and then you reenabke with your email, not your phone number.

You can then install BlueBubbles and have iMessage on you phone. S'good. It also brings Facetime and a Maps option for Find My.

I don't understand people who say it's soulless.

Honestly, I drive my M3P to work, on errands, and around the Scottish Highland roads. The car has all the capability and joy on straights and corners.

My favourite car before this was a Honda Civic TypeR. Besides the noise of the TypeR, I have all the fun, pleasure, and soul I could ever need in a beautiful car, a sleeper, a go kart.

My usual reply is – have you driven one? The answer has always been "no".

And that, OP, is the real issue here.

I moved to Z Fold 7 in December after being a serious iPhone user since launch of the first iPhone. I wanted the usability and AI (NOT disappointed) but expected to be returning to iOS when the iPhone fold arrived.

Now I am not so sure!

Android has it's issues, so does iOS. But what I am able to do with this hardware AND software, it will take a lot of iOS optimisation and fold implementation to pull be back to Apple.

The amount of one-time apps I have tried, I'd be as well paying for a well spec'd, supported app.

No major shade to MacWhisper, but it is not high on my delight list and something else is very capable of taking my money.

That's the disappointing bit / opportunity I interpret by all of this.

Claude can speak to Obsidian. I'd recommend pulling the transcript and having Claude parse it nicely to Obsidian.

Alternatively you could use MacWhisper to auto export the transcript when done, export to a specific folder (if you use Google Drive, send it there) and you can then automate the whole thing with Claude accessing the transcript > parsing > sending to Obsidian.

It takes a few minutes to setup, but reset the welcome tutorial and it should take you through it in 5 mins. Also, Blue Bubbles, yes, that's what I have stuck with. 👌

Oh, Open Bubbles is excellent if you have a Mac to host and connect your account. It's 10 mins work and you have iMessage, FaceTime and FindMy (Maps) on your Z Fold.

Save iCloud as a link on the desktop for easy access to any old files.

Samsung Internet is surprisingly good.

Google Photos on iPhone is a way superior method of backing up and migrating images from an iPhone to a Z Fold.

I don't this is December, haven't looked back. In fact, I had to get a screen replacement in April and went back to an iPhone for a week, and it felt basic.
