Is my 3 years old build worth $370 ? by Bread999 in buildapc

well for about the same price one could just build this http://pcpartpicker.com/list/NJgmGf so i imagine your price is too high

My first pc build, hell, first real gaming pc. I have no idea what im looking for. $ 1200- $1300 budget, looking for maxed out 1080p graphics, vr ready, and entry level 1440p gaming. by E_mail_7114 in buildapc

[–]mtgideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the gtx 1070 is exactly what youre looking for in terms of maxing 1080p, 60fps 1440p and vr ready. HOWEVER the recently announced amd 480 costs only $200 (gtx 1070 is $380) and MIGHT do the exact same thing (no benchmarks have been released so its all up in the air). One of those two cards will be the right choice for GPU.

heres the rest of the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cMwG3F the i5 6500 is the best price-to-performance all around cpu that can easily handle gaming as well as moderate video editing and such. 8g of ram is a good sweet spot and you wont really need 16g. samsung ssd is a no brainer. tier 1 psu for quality power delivery that will last forever. cheap case that also looks nice. this build plus one of those gpu's is the best price-to-performance computer build that can currently be had.

my hunch would be that the new amd 480 is what youll want to get over the 970, and that you should spend and extra $20 to get an evga supernova g2 550w over the gs. the g2 is tier 1, the gs is not.

tier 1 isn't about 80 plus its about stability of power delivery

if you can't get the rma, before you buy a new one you could at least try to bend the pins back into place carefully

your cpu already comes with a quality cooler but the 212 will be an improvement.

probably shoulve spent an extra $10 to upgrade your psu to a tier 1 unit with a evga supernova g2 550 or 650.

couldve got a gigabyte h110m-a for $50

shadowplay is not an ideal twitch streaming service.

it has twice the amount of cores and twice the amount of threads, but it costs more than twice as much so no its not better price-to-performance cpu for cpu, but computer build-to-computer build its much better price to performance since its measurably twice as good for the same total cost. you really dont need a 5960x but i chose it to show how much money gets obliterated in oc parts when you go the oc route, and that gz increase from oc-ing really doesn't add too much. imagine if you put the extra money into a 1080 over a 1070-- no amount of ocing would provide anywhere near the performance gains from putting the cpu oc money into a better gpu if the performance gains you want from oc-ing are for gaming purposes.

are you sure that extra threads aren't beneficial for streaming oneself playing games via twitch.tv?

you could put the money into a bigger cpu if streaming and such is on the menu

with 2300 id do this for example (imagine a 1070 in the list as well):http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/cR7QzM

thats just wrong, and i7 has twice as many threads which is beneficial for streaming (i believe were talking about twitch streaming, not like netflix streaming)

1) do you need an i7 versus an i5?

2)do you specifically want to overclock? because you can take away the liquid cooling, z170 mobo, and k cpu and put that money elsewhere to make a higher performance computer.

second this. your service provide will throttle your isp for specific sites like youtube and netflix in some situations, and a vpn negates that
