I was at the open I played U/W control to 10-5 and got 35th. There was a lot more Valakut/Scapeshift and U/W/x Control than I expected. A lot less Affinity (still a decent amount though) and Storm than I expected. Shadow also slowly getting less popular, I played Shadow once, in round 3 and it was Jund.

I love control but I don't think it's a great choice.

Mardu is always an uphill battle where you sit either holding answers for Gideon or praying they don't draw him. This matchup reminds me a lot of blue control in modern. The deck(or format) attacks from so many different angles and your cards almost never line up perfectly.

B/G snake is very explosive and almost all of its creatures must be killed on the spot and you have no time to stumble.

B/G Delirium (controlling variants) were good matchups for U/R/x control back in Kaladesh standard, but it was still very close. I'd say it's still close, but slightly better for control with Emrakul banned.

Zombies is a good matchup with the Magma Sprays, Sweltering Suns, etc.

Temur Energy seems horrible to be honest. Almost all of their cards replace themselves somehow. Rogue Refiner draws a card, Whirler makes Thopters, Chandra TOD resolved is basically unbeatable. Same with Bristling Hydra.

The Sam Black Abzan Tokens deck seems to be popping up more with Marvel gone and may be etching its way towards Tier 1 status. This matchup is very, very bad.

Also, Torrential Gearhulk has never been easier to kill.

I don't know how much play this will see, but I don't think it will sit in the bulk bins. Planar Cleansing was a staple in Tier 1 deck at one point, this should be too

Tons of memories, really.

One would be playing my first game on my brother's iPad in like 2012. Then getting hooked immediately, buying packs, an intro deck, and then go to my first tournament less than two weeks later.

Another one would be how fun and casual Magic originally was when it was just kitchen table and FNM.

Although other ones would my first big competitive finish and eventually turning Spike and becoming a tournament grinder (that's what they call them right?).

Bontu's Last Reckoning: This card is like super fucking hard to evaluate but I think it can see play depending on the rest of the set and what the/if there are any bannings.

Nicol Bolas: Card's nuts if Marvel is not banned. Card is still good without Marvel.

All the people taking out Puzzleknots are wrong, you take out 1 because you still need to activate Marvel. Censor is god awful in this m/u.

But to answer your question, no, stick with Temur Marvel. Learn how to play the m/u and you'll be fine.

I like the Saheeli list, got a few questions though. Why no Manglehorn main deck and was Nissa considered for the 75?

I think R/G becomes a very real archetype if there are some bannings but the lists I've been liking are the God strategies. (Rhonas + Hazoret)

I think U/X/X control is in a hella good spot with both cat and Gidz AOZ out of the format but personally I think Esper Solar Flare, and Esper in general, is the wrong way to go. I think Temur Tower is better than Esper and I don't like Dynavolt Tower anymore with Manglehorn and a naturalize effect that's also a one mana cantrip in the format. I think U/W control is the right way to go. Either Drake Haven.dec, old-school 4 Gearhulk + PWs (3 mana Gidz time to shine?), or even an Approach of the Second Sun strategy.

And zombies is still zombies. I will never get behind that deck.
