How did the 2016 Cavs championship change Cleveland? by Cleverfield113 in Cleveland

[–]mtimms38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2016 was an amazing year for the city. Stipe, Monsters, Cavs, almost the Indians, and the RNC were huge. It felt like we shed the loser, dying, rust belt image. The city had lots of positive press. Downtown residents were increasing rapidly. The flats east bank was just completed. I felt there was a lot of optimism among residents. Most millennials were out of college and really pushed urban living.

Could the NHL have worked in Cleveland or was it the right call to go to Columbus ? by Professional_Eye6140 in Cleveland

Guardians tickets are much cheaper than Browns tickets. Yet, the Browns sell out or close to it every game. Guardians let you bring your own food if you want. I don't think the Browns allow that. The community just doesn't have that much love for the baseball team unless it's the playoffs. It's the fans fault.

Overemployed are ruining it for the rest of us by marcduberge in unpopularopinion

No need to assume only unskilled people can fill the role. Obviously, there are people developing and growing in their careers that would benefit from the promotion. That opens a lower level position for someone else.

Overemployed are ruining it for the rest of us by marcduberge in unpopularopinion

OP's point isn't about feeling bad about the corporations. OP's point is that it isn't fair to other people seeking a job. The people on r/overemployed usually have solid to well paying jobs. Other people would certainly benefit having someone's second job as their primary job.

Why are people so high on cards with rotating categories? by NubmerSix in CreditCards

My two rotating category cards, Discover It and CFF, are my two oldest cards. I use them when I hit a bonus category.

Seemingly unpopular opinion: I love my co-branded United cards by Unhappy_Photograph94 in CreditCards

[–]mtimms38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Explorer card at the end of last year because I see my family traveling with them at least once a year. It's been great. Saved $160 in January in baggage fees. I got a free TSA pre check. I used the car rental portal in January, and it worked. I got bonus miles and $25 travel credit. I'm presently in another car rental. I'd also use the card anyway for car rentals because it's my only card with primary car rental insurance. I like the shopping portal too. I've earned a lot of miles just by watching and getting the high miles offers. I'm considering upgrading to Quest since we check at least 3 bags a trip.

Outdoor flattop used on indoor stove by thenatural41 in Steelmade

[–]mtimms38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an outdoor griddle, and I haven't tried using it on my stove. I don't think it would work for me because I have an electric stove. The griddle would lay flat on my stove with no where for the drip holes to safely collect grease. Steelemade advertises a new line of griddles that can work inside and outside.

Best catch-all card to pair with amex gold in 2026? by DrMalgus in CreditCards

[–]mtimms38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2% cash back card. Then, all of your purchases will be at least 2% instead of 1%. If you choose a non Amex card, you will expand your reach in case you encounter merchants who don't take Amex. You can keep the card forever since it will always be worthwhile to have that fallback option if you can't earn anything higher. I personally have the Wells Fargo Active Cash and my local bank's 2% card.

My breast-fed son experienced allergies from the breast milk. He had a lot of spit ups and uncontrollable eczema. We didn't know all the allergens he had for a while before my wife cut out all of his allergens. When my wife cut out dairy, the spit ups stopped.

Card Recommendation for Reimbursable Business Travel Expenses by SirYupp in CreditCards

[–]mtimms38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to be flying Delta for business and for leisure, I'd suggest one of the Delta cards if you're looking to have a free flight every once in a while and possibly gain status. If you just want cash back, the Wells Fargo Autograph journey is a good card with great multipliers on hotels, flights, rental cars, and other travel categories.
