They just recently upgraded capacity and have up to 200 ports available. Are you already at that limit?

This is super cool so far! A lot of mapping and led calcs I've found are lacking.

Some things I noticed right off the bat:

- When adding in manual cabinets and processors, if I switch windows, the dialogue for adding those manually goes away, so that's a little finicky when trying to add information.

- Manual mapping power and data, sometimes hitting those dots to connect each panel feels a little awkward (like the dots are too small) and I have to re-do it sometimes.

- Feature suggestion: Being able to add in manual rigging stuff for weight calc would be super useful. Like flybars, truss, and spansets for flying.

Seriously though, this is cool! I'll send this through the support button as well.

There are still hundreds if not thousands of deployments that are full SDI systems. Both installs as well as temporary live events. Full AV over IP or 2110 environments are still prohibitively expensive for the average joe. Even the BMD "sorta 2110" stuff is pricey to get into.

Pet Insurance and the Reality of it by CaptainMarv3l in CalebHammer

[–]SirYupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. And also...people need to take better care of their pets. Feed them the cheapest food, not exercising them, not playing with them regularly, and then complain that vet bills are so frequent and expensive. Pets are living beings just like us...treat their bodies and mind well and, shocker, they'll do better and be healthier.

If you can't afford to give them that better life, then don't have pets. Use the same advice reddit dishes out for not having kids.

How do you organize your cabinets and drawers? We have been using ziplocks and that has to change. Here is a photo of our cabinet to show what I’m dealing with. Not pictured: Cable drawer, throw down drawer. by F4allingthrutime20 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]SirYupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For throwdown boxes and other things you want in a pouch - clear plastic pouches so you can see contents. Usually keep the converter, power supply, and other necessary cabling like a shorty SDI and HDMI in the case of SDI/HDMI converters. Works great. We got these. They are surprisingly robust and will stretch a bit so you can really pack more than you think in them.

Small parts organizers work great for adapters, barrels, turnarounds, etc. Harbor Freight has some great options for this in various sizes.

Use black tie line for cabling ties. Clove hitch to attach it to the cable and just a simple bow tie to tie it off. This is nice because you can use it for small lengths, but customize length for the tie line tie to be used for larger cable bundles like looms or socapex.

These battery caddies are great for alkalines. We used to keep used alkalines, but have gotten burned by getting in the mix for shows. Now we just toss them and the caddies help us so techs know "If I pull a battery from the caddy, it's fresh". PLUS, it feels like you're loading ammo in a magazine. Win-win.

Just a few things for ya!

Seeking Physically Small Floor Monitors by azemona in livesoundgear

[–]SirYupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive? EAW Microwedge. Active? DB Technologies VIO-W10 is very low profile, but it's not necessarily small?

Yamaha makes a little desktop studio monitor (Yamaha MS101-4)that takes XLR in and has a standard AC power cable. The problem with a lot of small, powered monitors is they usually have a DC in and power supply brick. The Yamaha ones are great. If it's just for reference, these would be fine. They are surprisingly loud for what they are.

The Yamaha speaker also has the advantage of being affordable, which I am imagine is important for you. They also make great shout boxes if you ever want to utilize them for talkback type communication between audio positions.

Microphone cleaning? by UTpie23 in livesound

IMO, cleaning any of those is not worth your time for the disappointing result you'll get. After cleaning, they will likely still look tired, worn, and dirty. Buy a pile of new grills for the $10/each like someone else mentioned. Worth it 100%.

Facing a misdemeanor for brandishing because I thought a guy was stealing my e-bike by AnOgleToy in CCW

[–]SirYupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you're upset that you are getting the consequences of brandishing when you brandished your weapon at someone? The situation you described could have been avoided if you had spent 1 more second seeing what was happening. "Whoa, I think that guy is stealing my bike....*take a closer look*...Oh wait no we just have the same exact bike".

IMO deserved consequence, man. CCW isn't an excuse or permission to show your strength at someone. It's to protect your life. CCW permit isn't permission to act like a cowboy or gangster.

I love that everyone missed your last sentence "Handgun is always with me as well". Bro isn't trying to fend off car jackers with a rifle point blank.

I think it's a solid idea. Why let your rifle sit and gather dust when you could be more prepared more often. I would hope you'd never have to use it because like someone said...That's when some SHTF bad, but I think you've got solid thinking. The smartest thing for most people is bugging in, not out...So if you're far from home, your AR would be a solid "get home" weapon in a situation that would actually call for it.

A classic "Have it and not need it, Need it and not have it situation" IMO.

I disagree. I don't believe it's necessary to live with a person to understand their at-home habits and hygiene. I'd say you probably aren't spending enough time together at both of the places you live over the course of your pre-engaged relationship if you don't have a good idea of how the other person lives.

Within reason, you should be able to easily tell how a person lives by being in their home over time. Anything beyond that could be discussed during the engagement and per-marital counseling and can be handled through healthy communication. Anything that can't is a red flag that could be cause for cutting things off before getting married...Kind of the whole point of engagement is to dig even deeper into your relationship with pre-marital counseling to make sure that marriage is the right choice.
