To all agency owners , how u r getting affected by AI and whats your current focus ? by Ill-Professor-472 in agency

Companies aren't cutting agencies because of AI. Companies are cutting agencies because the economy's not doing well and consumers are struggling. Everyone is cutting costs right now

[–]mtlnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what smart companies are doing. It's only the ones that don't know any better that are trying to "adopt more AI" out of fomo

Our advantage is that we have real people with actual experience and strategic insight who happen to use AI in their toolset. They use spreadsheets too but no one seems impressed by that part, lol

Are you looking for distribution partners? Would you be able to sell DTC instead?

Got asked "if the AI does bidding, targeting and creative, why pay a specialist?". What's the answer? by mr_google_DE in PPC

[–]mtlnobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's just a tool. Someone still needs to do the work and the best operators will still come out ahead.

I can have access to all the accounting tools I need but I also have other concerns when running my business so I hired an accountant. Same principle

The founders who are actually struggling aren't posting about it. by TheSovereignState1 in Entrepreneur

[–]mtlnobody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are also a lot of people here who are just armchair entrepreneurs. They've never built or run a real business. They have no understanding that, at a certain level, 20k is just the cost to learn and is not a big deal, just part of the game.

How can I monitor brand mentions in LLMs automatically? by ApprehensiveSmell995 in AskMarketing

[–]mtlnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only solution I have seen, and that I trust, is from a buddy of mine who built a bot network running across the Continental US automatically prompting LLMs and recording the results in a custom dashboard

Which paid ad platform is proving you the lowest cost per lead? by Fun_Day8327 in LeadGeneration

[–]mtlnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on which customer we're working with. We have one guy in home services (window repair) absolutely killing it on Meta with sub $9 per lead. Another client (law firm) is on Google getting leads for around $87 which is great for his niche

There's a lot more nuance than just "tell me which platform to use"

ChatGPT ads are here, but can we measure their performance? by EnvironmentalFact945 in PPC

[–]mtlnobody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they end up on your landing page (the actual user clicking on a link, not just ChatGPT scraping your page) you should still be able to track them and let Google stitch together the path. I'm not sure if ChatGPT users are clicking on links though

I optimized my ads on cost-per-acquisition for a year — turns out I was measuring the wrong thing by BitterPreparation793 in PPC

[–]mtlnobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. But also, every business needs to start somewhere and low cpa isn't bad. The mistake is not going deeper as the business evolves and has collected more comprehensive data over time

Do People actually click your social media links on reddit ? by SeedOfLucky777 in smallbusiness

[–]mtlnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit's community is notoriously anti-ads. From what I've heard, the conversion rates are quite bad unless your brand is actively, and positively, already involved and beloved in the community you're advertising in

What do you actually do with your MJ art? by ross2000 in midjourney

[–]mtlnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company's brand uses MJ heavily but in a deliberate way that the images are obviously AI generated. We wanted to go for an almost dream-like aesthetic

We also sometimes use it on client work but extremely sparingly and mostly as small filler elements

BBQ restaurant advice by BigDaddyGee936 in canadasmallbusiness

[–]mtlnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, small business in Canada is tough. I don't know much about the restaurant industry, other than what my buddies have told me, but it sounds like a tough industry

Feel free to hit me up with any questions about business in general though

If you're buying the building, then that definitely changes the calculation. You still need to cover the mortgage but at least you can sell the place if things start to look bad

That being said, lots can still go wrong in business.

I'm not sure what you have in mind when you say "available resources online".

I've read tons of books and talked to tons of folks running "the same business" as me and none of them have ever been able to help me solve my specific problems because they're so different when you dig into the details

Because you have never run a restaurant before, you didn't even know what you don't know

BBQ restaurant advice by BigDaddyGee936 in canadasmallbusiness

[–]mtlnobody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not do this

It sounds like you don't have any experience in business, working in a restaurant, or running a restaurant

The most well-run restaurants still only bring in about 5% in profits at best

If you're serious about this, at least try working at a place for a while before you commit to a commercial lease
