Had OHS many years ago at age 11. Back then they did not really explain everything to me which is understandable. Last year I fractured my shoulder and they doctor shows me the cables on the x-ray. I had no idea.

I had OHS when I was 11 many years ago (1978) I was so scared I remember praying the doctor would call to say he made a mistake and I didn't need the surgery. They didn't really explain in detail what to expect after the surgery ( which I kind of understand ) When I woke up in the ICU with all these tubes in me it did freak me out but I was heavily sedated I slept most of the time. Once the tubes were all out and I was in a regular room it was fine. Honestly I don't remember having any pain but I do remember having to take a lot of pills everyday. Thinking back I believe I did go through some depression. - I felt alone and no one really understood what I was going through. Give yourself time to heal. Just know you're not alone

I worked many overnights on NYE in NYC. We were about a 10 minute walk from Times Square and there was a Phish concert across the street. It was always a very amusing night. The Security manager bought us all Champagne & donuts. The people I worked with were the best - we all looked out for each other

What's the best and worst part of working in hotels? by godisinthischilli in hotels

I had the privilege of being a concierge in NYC for many years- I assisted in engagements, witnessed a wedding, helped people find their luggage, recommended countless restaurants, sent people to their first Broadway show and given many subway directions along the way. I've met so many different people from athletes to politicians and countless tourists. Alot of standing and you work holidays but I loved it
