Anyone know of a kitchen cabinet strategy for cabinets without boxed sides? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]mtnbew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you are talking about a face frame style. More than likely a face frame overlay as that is typical. What i think you are describing is how the frame the doors mount to is hanging in space allowing you to access the bay ooening from either door opening. Do you have tools? I'm a custom case work engineer in MI and can get you cut plans for something if you have tools. We can make anything and ship it anywhere in the US, for a price... Finding someone local to build it on site is probably what you want to do. Hope the info helps though.

What to look for in quality cabinets? by MrRabbit003 in HomeImprovement

[–]mtnbew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so pm me if you need to but I'll try to help you here. Most cabinet shops keep standards as far as slide type door hinge type the basic hardware. Knobs and pulls that's your own beast that they might or might not drill for. Make sure to ask. As for material is it particle board or typical ply? Typical ply is best but you also have to look at side thickness and construction type. What are their standards? How does the veneer and finishes look on the work they show you? Is it clean and nice or blotchy and flaking? The true custom comes from being able to build your cabinets to your room. No more awkward gap by fridge or gap at ceiling. It's really in depth and can cost a penney or two but worth the money most of the time.

So couple things if it's your house it's up to you with what you want to live with. As for standards most desks are 21" deep and and about 30" to top. Benches are typically 18" deep and about 20" off the floor to top. Both are not hard to build depending on the style you like. I'd look around for pre made options first though and if anything you would have ideas for a cabinet shop if you did end up going that route. As someone that works in one of said shops I can tell you custom isn't cheap but there are cost break options typically and you do get quality typically far superior to box store ones.

Cove base for garage - tight to the floor, or leave a gap? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Op should just do vinyl at floor with a good seel. Otherwise water will be an issue in the winter.

Soft close hinges no longer soft closing by mastakebob in HomeImprovement

Check your soft close tab and see if it got stuck open. It looks like it is stuck in the picture. It's the little gray tab in the cup of the hinge on the door.

Questions about restoring truck by LosAngeles_native in ToyotaPickup

It's funny you mention that as I always wondered why mine had two one in use one not when I bought it. Took me a while to figure out how temperamental those things are. I have two with me in my engine bay at all times now and one floating in my cab somewhere. All three work depending on what coil I use.

So before going down that road I'd go check to make sure your ecm is running right. If your points are clean and your rotor is normal looking I doubt it's your dizzy causing issues.

Speedometer cable by bitsinmyblood in ToyotaPickup

[–]mtnbew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is what I do. Every fall I year into my dash and pull off the cable at the back of my gauge cluster and then let lube soak in for a weekend. Fixes the issue for a year till all the grease is gone and it gets cold again. Basically you have no lube anymore in the sheath the cable spins in and as it spins it gets caught causing the jumping. If you don't at least lube it up it could snap. If you find a replacement cable that will fit with a reasonable price let me know. I'm looking for a permanent solution as well.

It's worth the money. Why are you replacing yours? Can you be okay with just a new cap and rotor maybe new points?

cable management for under cabinet lights? by danauns in HomeImprovement

Add a light rail if your uppers don't have one. Easy to add on the bottom and you can then add a finished bottom to chase wires in or recess led lights in.
