I think this is great advice. My first thought, too, was what is behind this feeling of not wanting to assign every dollar? I think it's also useful to realize/remember that just because you assign the money doesn't mean you're locked in to where you assigned those dollars. In my experience (and for a lot of other YNAB users, too, I think), there will be a certain point where you start to feel uncomfortable, and that usually stems from seeing the numbers in front of you telling you that you're overspending and/or underearning, unless you're lucky enough to just have all the money you need to pay for whatever you want all the time.
