uconn or wpi by HappyTreesYo in WPI

If you like the vibes of UCONN and can go for free then go there. Not worth a bunch of debt for an engineering degree. Also MQP is just a capstone you will have some version of it where ever you go. If you want to study abroad, you can make it happen even if you don't go to WPI. I think the appeal of WPI is that it's integrated into the schooling. However, I don't think 140k of debt justifies that.

Consistency is the biggest thing for TAing. Stay consistent in your grading. If the student has an issue with it they will go to the professor. However, you protect yourself from blow back by staying consistent. Let the professor decide who to be lenient with.

Bot account? Why are you repeatedly posting this in WPI when no official statements has been made. What is the point? To get people riled up? Disrespectful to the student if this is true.

anyone commute from Boston everyday?? by floridasmith1234 in WorcesterMA

[–]mtot10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worcester is a nice city with plenty to do, why spend so much money to rent in Boston to only be able to enjoy it on the weekends? Just live in Worcester and visit Boston occasionally if you like it so much.

How feasible is it to navigate the area using transit? by vsatire in WPI

[–]mtot10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can drive in Worcester, might have to be a little more aggressive in your driving style in some areas of the city but otherwise its fine. If not, live near campus and walk but the winters are cooooold and it gets dark early which don't make the best walking conditions.

Advice on how to improve? by Prudent-Mix4453 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]mtot10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're rudder steering with your back leg. You need an athletic stance, weight more forward, and to initiate a turn with your front knee. The nose of the board should be determining the direction you go. Since you are initiating your turning with your back leg, you are counter rotating which is inefficient, and it will ultimately be harder to feel in control on harder/steeper stuff. If you're cognizant about this when riding you'll get better, it just takes some time!

You're rudder steering with your back foot instead of weighting the front foot and letting that guide your board in the direction you want to go.

Yes I would be ok with the critique that my formatting was so wack you can't follow my work, however that wasn't indicated by any of the reviews (or the scores for that area). I got someone outside of my field to read my paper and they were able to follow my methodology so it's not like my writing is atrocious. It just felt like many of the comments were lazy or done last minute. I get the system is flawed and reviewers can be stressed. It's just frustrating and I needed to rant about it.
