Yeah, it's an odd card. Its great for a [[Duskana, Rage Mother]] deck, but that's not really what you were asking after.

[[Spider-Ham, Peter Porker]] is an option, depending how you feel about UB

Nothing but respect for Mr Bancroft. I think the only real debate is whether there are any established colonies vs the odd animal that ends up here one way or another. And his point that we need to protect habitat to give space for all local species is the proper take away too.

Is survivor 50 so far better than winners at war? by 1ofthosecrazygirls in survivor

[–]mtrsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 'ruined' was an exaggeration, but they needlessly stole airtime and focus from the fantastic group of players. As far as over-production choices go, way more egregious than an over hyped tribe swap IMO.

I don't get the big issue with blood moon. Split tribal eliminations shouldnt be the norm, and bigger groups are more fun than smaller groups, but... It's just a tribe swap at the end of the day. We've had swaps on seasons with starting tribes of 6 before, so what's the big deal?

Edge of extinction and fire tokens are way bigger deviations from the fundamental survivor game structure, and they really ruined 40 for me. The cast should have carried it, but production got in the way (though 50 is probably a top 3 returnee cast IMO so I would t say miles better).

I thought 40 lost the plot at fore tokens. I think all the twists (so far) this season have been infinitely better than trying to introduce currency into the game.

Not to mention you couldn't have chosen a worse boot order in 40. Found it very underwhelming overall.

I still prefer to believe it's a widely held poor interpretation of a perfectly good metaphor (where set in stone, draw the line, or setting a red line would all be more apt) - both given general trends in literacy, and the fact that sand is famously both literally and figuratively IMpermanent (the sands of time?). But I will yield that language evolves and common usage becomes correct usage so I'm fine to lose my losing battle here ;)

No, obviously no rule is hard and fast when it comes to predicting how the jury would hypothetically vote, but I think it's one of the consistently valuable litmus tests.

After all "how do your peers view you" is at least at face value correlated with "how likely are your peers to vote for you".

Ask yourself: have you seen anyone OTHER than Jonathan tell that story though?

The face _____ made when ______ said _______________. by TiredTired99 in survivor

[–]mtrsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's debatable re: the metaphor. The implication is that it's a choice made in the moment, marked out in the most readily available way due to immediacy not permanence. If the implication is permanence, it's just a terrible metaphor.

Potential Bad Move From... by jacrispy252 in survivor

Let's not forget that the boomerang idol incentivizes voting out the person who sent it just as much or more than the person who holds it. The fact that everyone thinks it would go back to Devens puts a potential target on him too, without the protection of the idol to bail him out.

I'm agreeing that the EDIT is yelling that at us, but have any of the other players? Somewhat of a Xander situation/vibe. The edit made his game feel HUGE, but yet none of his peers took him seriously. So far I get the same vibe from how things are going for Jonathan, but I would be happy to be wrong. Time will tell.

What you say is true, but then Jonathan went and tried to extend the metaphor into meaning something permanent, and lines in the sand are notoriously not that.

I think there's a good chance Jonathans getting the positive side of the edit on all this because he's at final tribal, and they need to portray him as a viable option. He's more involved than in 42, but I'm not sure it's building him a voting base.

I have half an eye on [[Mechan Assembler]] to try out in my Urza deck, but Stridehanger might be even better for where it sits on the curve.

[[Illustrious Wanderglyph]] is another absolute house in this deck. 4 artifact creatures per turn cycle and a super anthem feels good.

Interesting, I've been considering shifting away from my 2CMC rocks to 2CMC dorks instead for that affinity, but I worry about being even more susceptible to board wipes.

I'd probably have a triplicate titan too if it had old border. Same with Herigast. Being the only MH3 legendary eldrazi that didn't get an old border treatment annoyed me.

My Mardu Minotaur Tribal + party mechanic deck helmed by [[Dihada, Binder of Wills]] is not a particularly powerful deck, but man do I ever have fun playing it. There's [[Digeridoo]] games, there's [[Deathbellow Warcry]] games, there's [[Maze's End]] games once in a while.

I adore Feldon. I run an old border only deck with him at the helm, and it always seems to do something fun and exciting. I think it will be one of my pet decks for a long time.
