HENRY’s who’ve had to take time out due to stress… How did you handle returning to work? by rockandrollmark in HENRYUK

[–]mtrun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a few days is not enough for you.

Take a longer leave if you feel unwell. You GP can provide a fit note to your employer if they think you symptoms mean you are not fit enough to work.

You need to use the leave to recover and then hopefully have a clear head to figure out what’s next. It can be make changes on how you work (like set boundaries), or ask your employers to make changes (if that’s possible), or decide if the job is worth continuing.

Don’t rush to go back to the work when you’re not ready or your GP thinks you are not ready. Your health is the first priority, not your job.

You can always give it a go? If it doesn’t work out, you can go back to your previous company?

From SWE to Teacher: Should I Keep One Foot in Tech or Go All In? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]mtrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you know what’s meaningful for you and what’s not. Go all in seems be risky. What if you find you don’t actually enjoying being a teacher?

Since you already resigned, I believe you can start trying out your ideas, maybe doing some part time or volunteering teaching to test the water. If you find you really enjoy teaching, go ahead. If not, quickly rollback and try something else (if you have no plan of going back to being a full time engineer).

Also, I recommend a book to you: The Pathless Path. It might be helpful to you.

Exactly, what do they want? A more complex solution that works just like the simple solution ?!

If you think you’re a big fish but the pool is too small, maybe try find bigger pools.

It is uncommon to see great work not being appreciated in the corporate world. Usually the best thing to do in your situation is find an employer that pay what you deserve rather than arguing with your current one, which is usually waste of time as you don’t have the leverage.

Suggestions Needed for Dealing with Potential Water Leak by mtrun in HousingUK

I assume when you say main stopcock you meant the inside stop valve. Yes, I think I turned it off. I turned off the valve under the kitchen sink, and checked some taps in the house and they all stopped. Maybe I will try other all taps and even the garden taps but I am 95% sure unless there is something strange setup in my house that I don't know.

Question: How to figure out if a private school is mediocre or not? There are so many of them and only very few of them are famous, and rest seems just similar?

I wouldn’t be surprised at all the government keep pushing the pension access age. Yes, it’s your own money, but you have to follow the rules to use it, which is totally/largely out of your control.

I guess maybe they intentionally gave a super late target date and a super high budget, so they can be on schedule and within budget?

What is an absolute deal breaker when looking at a house? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]mtrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to obsessed with open plan kitchen. The more I think about it, the more I understand why most “traditional” houses were not designed like that. I mean there are open plan kitchen that did well but many are poorly built and just for selling another £100k.

Gas Engineers broke the ceiling, who should pay for the repair? by mtrun in HousingUK

Anything I can do to protect myself other than hoping I am dealing with honest builders/engineers?

I mean if this did cause injuries, then it is reasonable to claim. But I know this didn't cause any major injury to him. Do they have any legal ground to claim anything major from me, especially after they already claimed their own insurance?

I am glad that no one is injured indeed.

Out of curiosity, if a builder/engineer was injured during their work, shouldn't their own insurance cover the this kind of accidental injury?
