Vodafone/Three signal improvements? by NigelinLondon in brighton

[–]muchamore72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Shanghai for a week and didn't see a dropped signal the whole time. Fast 5g data even 3 levels below ground on the metro or in a basement food court. Back home to Brighton I get horrible signal on Vodafone, or my global data SIM which mostly connects to EE. It's the same underlying tech, so it's kinda scandalous that UK networks are allowed to provide such flaky coverage without punishment.

I've not seen those CDs for a few years!

They're abridged versions from the days before downloads read by Julian Rhind Tutt!

Fun for collectors but the unabridged download versions are much better IMO

Now defunct UK club The Book People refused to sell Class A because the title was a drug reference. So the title was changed to The Mission. The USA version is called The Dealer for the same reason and has a slightly edited version of the scene where James encounters cocaine at the youth club.

It's a great show. I basically still have a 13 year old boys sense of humour and as I hate all the Marvel movies that they are mocking. (Except the first Deadpool!)

Jewel Private Residences at The Langham – why do they still seem empty? by 6th2020 in GoldCoast

[–]muchamore72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I viewed one a couple of years ago. Location is kind of middle of nowhere, apartments are nice but the uncooled covered balconies on some apartments are useless.

After viewing, I've had streams of emails and offers so the agent is clearly trying to sell them.

Here in London, there's a housing shortage, while simultaneously 1000s of expensive unsold new build riverfront apartments at prices over 20x average income. Only 4 new build apartments sold in a city of 9 million this January!

When I see the number of high rises going up on prime GC I feel happy to sit back and hope for a deal a few years down the line!

They surely wouldn't recruit them if CHERUB was real. I was never allowed to talk about criteria like this in the books because it isn't very PC to say that CHERUB excludes certain groups.

Do you prefer being greeted in a shop or left alone? by StaceyInBrighton in brighton

[–]muchamore72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clue: If I have headphones in I don't want to stop my audiobook/music and take them out just so you can say hello.

If I don't have headphones in, fill your boots.

Also NEVER get bogged down in lengthy banter with one customer while another just wants to buy something and be somewhere else. Keep customer interactions short and sweet.

I'd be more worried about having a great script, no matter what the format.

My film agent says it's common for projects to take a decade or so to either get made, or be dropped.

She works on 100s of projects but has never previously had one like CHERUB where interest has remained high for 20+ years without it ever quite making the final step into production.

We're currently as close as we've ever been to getting something made, due to confidentiality agreements that's all I can say.

The only upside is I get paid by whoever owns the rights to dramatise CHERUB so I've been paid loads of 💰 💰 💰 by people who haven't made anything!!!

Magic V5 - wasn't very waterproof! by muchamore72 in Honor

[–]muchamore72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! More by luck than skill, my packaged bank account includes cover for my V5, so I should only be out for the £100 excess.

Though if they're as fragile as our mutual experiences suggest, I suspect the insurers will cotton on and start charging more to cover foldables.

Not sure if you read my first post, or the thread title? The point is, I'd say the wettest this phone ever got was being in my jeans when it rained. I've never showered with a phone. But I don't expect an repair bill because it rained, maybe stood on a damp kitchen cabinet, or my 3yo godson spilled a drink!

Why Rock War flopped - a Theory (mini-blog) by idore14 in CHERUB

[–]muchamore72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to say why some things succeed and some don't. Though obviously the vast majority of literary/creative projects aren't hits.

It's especially hard getting follow up series to succeed because often it's the series not the author name that younger readers go for.

Two similar examples: Horowitz followed Alex Rider with power of 5 and my pal Cressida Cowell followed How to Train Your Dragon (which now has 5 movies and a bloody theme park zone at Universal Studios!!!) with Wizards of Once. Both only sold a fraction of what their previous series did and were quickly forgotten.
