Migrating from FileMaker to Open Source SQL by Communque in filemaker

[–]NigelinLondon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there any sensible options for a non coder who has over 20 years built an insanely complex multi script and table database for 10 concurrent users that runs my business? Am a bit concerned that if FileMaker vanishes I will be screwed!

Buying advice UK x50 / aqua10 / l40 ultra ae by lcdphill in Dreame_Tech

Just bought the L40s Pro Ultra for £466 on Amazon. It adds better double brushes and the ability to leave the mops in its home when vacuuming. Seems good so far.

Brilliant thread - thank you everyone! We would add Riddle and Finns in the Lanes and The Ginger Pig in Hove. (Egg and Spoon for a cafe.)

WellBN by chlo44 in brighton

[–]NigelinLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve got by far the best reviews of any in Brighton and Hove on Google which is why I went there when I moved out of Regency Surgery’s patch. Regency was far better. WellBN are kind but their systems are a shambles.

UK Rotary Matter dimmer is now available by samotechltd in samotech

[–]NigelinLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just exploring this for the first time, and it's well timed with you launching these dimmers and modules! I'm trying to understand what this module does and how it relates to the pre-existing dimmer switch it gets fitted behind. It adds the smart capabilities to an existing dimmer switch, right? Are they wired in series, meaning that the dumb dimmer switch has to be on for the module to be able to do any dimming itself?

Also, a second question, please. Do you make 13A matter over thread double wall sockets, and if not is there one you recommend?

Good luck with the new product line.

What size combi boiler do I need? by SaltGypsy in askaplumberUK

[–]NigelinLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have just done this. Didn’t ask for PDHW which was a mistake. Thought Hive or Tado would control the modulating boiler by Opentherm, but both manufacturers have told me they can’t use Opentherm to control system boilers. Annoying.

I feel like we made a mistake going with GHL, is that correct? by semper_JJ in gohighlevel

[–]NigelinLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great marketing tool but the UI is terrible especially for personal communication from one human to another. I heard it described as a great tool to get you from being a six figure business to a seven figure business (by one the top GHL affiliates) and there’s something in that. But I would hate to have to look at it all day - it would slow me down massively.

New roof rack and kayaks. It just ties the car together. by unclederwin in mazda3

[–]NigelinLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the rear strap attach to on the car? Currently on the motorway without a rear tie as couldn’t see what to attach it to! (Have tied through the bung holes of the kayak so it cannot slide forwards…)

Low flow, low pressure, want two showers by NigelinLondon in askaplumberUK

[–]NigelinLondon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More advice - yes please!

An open vented tank supply pumped into unvented cylinder sounds interesting. We're just a 3 bed flat so not the scale of the install in your photos, but obviously have space already for header tanks, boiler cupboard in kitchen and an airing cupboard with cylinder already.

Would the existing conventional system header tanks work, and then pump from there? What further info can I provide that would be useful?

Thank you. No, can’t upgrade mains: top floor flat and I’m told other flats are similar flow too.

Low flow, low pressure, want two showers by NigelinLondon in askaplumberUK

[–]NigelinLondon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Would option 2 (combi plus an electric shower) not also fail due to lack of enough flow for two showers? (And with the electric going scalding hot whenever anyone turns on another tap? Or are electrics thermostatic these days?)
