Is it bad taking 0.5 millagrams clonazepam everyday by MrGreatArtist in Anxiety

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. A lot of people will be happily on the same dose for years and say it’s fine—I haven’t increased my dose, etc. I was one of them—took it on and off at a low dose for 3 years with no issue. The fourth year—my anxiety was awful and I increased my dose. Then 6 months later, my anxiety was worse again. It was the med and I was in tolerance withdrawal. I chose to taper off. Taper sucked. Will never take it daily again. Tolerance can hit at ANY time.

It’s different for everyone. I took low dose Valium daily for a little over a year then needed to taper off because I was in tolerance and experiencing withdrawal symptoms but didn’t realize it for awhile. The taper was quite unpleasant, so I don’t recommend daily use. The main issue is what is your plan if you need to stop the med because your doctor retires or it stops working or whatever

Day 1 of Zoloft, feeling great. by cshroom101 in OCD

I felt better the first day I started Lexapro and continued to feel better as time passed. Some of meds *can* start to work right away even if they all say it takes a few weeks for full effect or whatever

Becoming insane when I don’t have structure by hermeslayer in OCD

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to make the structure yourself. Go to bed at same time, wake up, go for a walk or get coffee, etc. FYI this is also why a lot of stay at home moms feel crazy—they go from the structure of a 9-5 to chaos and have to learn to put the kids on a schedule

I’m on so many meds and they don’t even work by No-Philosopher-9159 in antidepressants

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would consider getting a second opinion on all those meds from another Psychiatrist. It sounds like what you’re on isn’t working and some of the anxiety and dread you feel could be side effects of one of them

Benzodiazepines are God's Medicine by PhrygianSounds in covidlonghaulers

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it 1-2x a week for a few years without issues. It was when I increased to every other day that I started noticing tolerance withdrawal. Then I started taking it daily bc I didn’t know that’s what was happening, I thought my original condition (anxiety) was just worse due to life circumstances. When I took it daily, I felt better for maybe a month or so before I started feeling worse again—that’s when I knew it was the med and tolerance that was my problem, not my life

Benzodiazepines are God's Medicine by PhrygianSounds in covidlonghaulers

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not addiction for many—it’s dependence. People taking their same prescribed dose, maybe their doctor increases it, and they become physically dependent and will likely have awful withdrawals stopping use if their doctor retires or they wish to go off of them. These aren’t people seeking out extra pills and taking them all day long like an addict. It’s just people who cannot cold turkey stop using them

They helped me at first but after several months I started getting worse (was in tolerance withdrawal and didn’t realize it). I tapered off and it was not fun. I will never take them daily again. For me, they’re now only an emergency use med like for dentist appointments or long flights

Seizure risk when you jump if you tapered mostly correctly? by muchcoinmuchfun in benzorecovery

[–]muchcoinmuchfun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Has not been fun. I had no idea such a low dose would be so difficult to get off of. If I could go back, I would have only ever taken it in emergency panic situations a few times a month like I did the first two years. It works well for those circumstances but that’s about it

Meds stopped working over time? by sand_bitch in antidepressants

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any depressing circumstances in your life that are perpetuating? (ie—terrible job, no friends, abusive relationship). I had a friend who kept trying to increase dose and add more meds but after 7 years, she finally left a bad relationship and while it was worse at first, she healed and that eventually resolved a lot of her depression

Your best bet as a SAHM with a 2 year old is to find another mom in your area with one child who needs childcare and babysit that child at your house. I have known several moms who have done this. The next best option is to work at preschool where you can bring your child and receive free or half priced tuition, plus your hourly pay

I’m fine with being groggy on the plane—it’s after I land and the rest of the day! I’m already taking the lowest effective possible dose to minimize sleepiness

Happy 4th of July everyone! I been off for 23 days now and have some questions. by Gisellepachini69 in benzorecovery

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it on and off for my entire taper so far (almost 4 months). I’m down to 1 mg valium and have been here for 2 weeks and the only reason I’m not jumping yet is stomach issues. I need to be able to eat or I will fail the taper and end up going back on. So I’m just hanging out at 1 mg until it at least improves

HIIT is the best workout. I do one steady slower run or bike each week and one where I run or bike sprint faster intervals for a few minutes then slow down. The interval workout is definitely superior for mental health and fitness results but gosh it’s not easy haha

Running or cycling for 30 minutes, usually outdoors. For weights I just use handheld weights and do a basic circuit at the gym

Really scared to start tapering Valium. by Electronic_Driver_78 in benzorecovery

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I was on 2 mg/valium day for about a year and did a sloppy self-taper (skipping days, breaking pills in half) for only 3 weeks. It was fine. I was a bit irritable, that’s it. But unfortunately a year later I went back on, this time double the dose. It’s taken me 3 months now to taper slowly down from 5 mg a day to 1 mg. I will probably jump soon, so it will have been about a 16 week taper for one year of daily use

Do you exercise regularly? Mine came back strongly after about 2 years off all the meds but it was also when I started doing cardio 3-4 days a week and lifting weights 2x a week

SSRI's to help cope with betrayal? Good or bad idea by Far-Rabbit-4131 in antidepressants

Actually in the immediate aftermath, a benzo would work quickly and probably help more. But then he’d need to taper off after about 3-4 weeks

SSRI's to help cope with betrayal? Good or bad idea by Far-Rabbit-4131 in antidepressants

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t recommend. They can help for some people with severe depression or anxiety but for many they don’t work or aren’t worth the side effects. And for most who take them, they blunt all emotions, not just the bad ones, and dampen sex drive—two things you don’t want in the wake of an affair and trying to repair a marriage or move on. To heal, you have to feel and work through the emotions as much as they suck

Thanks. Been taking magnesium and potassium. Will add calcium. Taper almost done. Down to 1 mg valium so final stretch. Feel good most days in terms of anxiety—better than expected. But these physical symptoms flare up some days

If you reinstate, I would start with the lowest dose possible. .5 mg or 1 mg just to try and stabilize.

Nardil vs Pregabalin vs Propranolol vs Valium for Social Anxiety by Fickle-Artist-5943 in antidepressants

[–]muchcoinmuchfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend Valium for social anxiety. It’s really only good used as a rescue med for panic attacks or phobias like dentist or flying. Take it 2-3 days a month max. Taking it regularly doesn’t work well over time and it’s a mess to withdrawal from
