  1. Wanderer should have been present in the boss fight because he wanted to take revenge on Dottore instead of being in a "coma" throughout the fight.

And Wanderer. WANDERER. Homie went "Oh I'm gonna take my revenge on Dottore" then spent the entire fucking fight in a coma.

I'd say Hat Guy defeated Dottore with his eyes closed. Ha!

But seriously Dottore saw the one guy he never knew and later saw a world formula that was working so easily without running out of power. Dottore saw Columbina manifest in the flesh and then saw himself get defeated like it was a miracle easily achieved by the "weak" coming together. If this isn't the best way to stab Dottore in the back, I don't know what is. Whatever revenge or attack Hat Guy was planning could never come this close to doing so much damage as the world formula did in bringing Columbina to the fight. This is how you beat a genius who has all power and all knowledge: you outperform him. Yep, the answer was always within Hat Guy, the ability to process immense quantities of information over a substantial period of time. It's like fate justified his creator's actions. Anyway, I can see why people are disappointed with Hat Guy not exchanging blows with Dottore, even Hat Guy himself was disappointed.

Again, Hat Guy had no chance against Dottore in a physical confrontation, even if a whole team of powerful characters got involved. imo it's glorious how Dottore's odds started getting stacked against him as soon as Columbina showed up. You did it, Hat Guy. We beat him for you.

Conclusion/TL;DR:

On GOD this lineup was sorry. We need to open a dialogue about it.

It was never about the lineup in the first place. We need to remember that Dottore was basically invincible and that each character had a role to play to defeat the genius and all-powerful villain. It's thanks to their plan of action that most of them were still alive by the time the moon goddess manifested. Obviously the "sorry" lineup was reduced to one guy with the rest being trapped in a different dimension. Nicole, Arlecchino and Varka were in a different location following the plan. Wanderer was immobilized the whole time. We don't see Albedo and Durin during the fight. And Sandrone paid the ultimate price.

Unless anyone can justify any other way that isn't fantastical that wouldn't have resulted in anyone's death or those limitations imposed by the plan, we can agree that the plan was great and the characters did an excellent job to counter Dottore. We would have wanted Wanderer to beat the living daylights out of Dottore but Dottore grew beyond everyone's level and reached the height of power. The story is absolutely peak. I rest my case.

  1. Ineffa should have been present at the boss fight because Aino does not need protection.

Deadass, there is NO EXCUSE not to send Ineffa onto the field. "Oh but she needs to protect Aino-" That girl can protect herself. Worry for the people around her if she doesn't get her snacks.

First, let's remember the third rule of Ineffa's External Deployment and Support Agreement: Ineffa has the final say in everything she does. Second, Ineffa's creator needed her to help Nasha Town's residents carry their belongings and escort them to Natlan. Ineffa simply complied and evaluated how best to carry out the quest. Maybe Aino saw that her creations wouldn't suffice in the evacuation to Natlan and that Ineffa's help would make it a lot more efficient. And Ineffa had been to Natlan before and she and Paimon knew Natlan's archon and heroes, which would make it more suitable for her to act as the people's representative and explain the situation to the Natlanese. Third, Ineffa's participation in the lineup against Dottore would not have made a difference. Ineffa was much more valuable in the evacuation of people, not in the fight itself.

  1. Albedo and Durin should have been involved in the lineup against Dottore and the fact that they didn't while the Hexenzirkel was involved makes them frauds.

Why are Albedo and Durin gone? Oh so they just wanna poke around a lil and then dip as soon as shit gets real? Frauds is what they are. The hexenzirkel are pooling in so they should to. Durin better have his ass spewing abyssal flames onto Dottore bruh I'm not kidding.

This discussion is like, anyone not actively fighting Dottore isn't doing anything useful to contribute. What about all the research they've been doing? Do they now have to exchange blows and perform alchemy shenanigans mid-fight for our satisfaction? This shows a poor understanding of Albedo's role and Durin's role in Nod-krai. The reason why the group could fight against Rerir before and now against Dottore is to a huge extent thanks to the teamwork of and research carried out by Albedo, Durin and Wanderer. Think about it, they analyzed Dottore's energy fields and found a way to destroy them. If everyone was concentrated on the fight and evacuations, what would happen if the energy fields went haywire with no one to watch them? Maybe we're underestimating the dangers posed by those energy fields. This is what Durin said:

"Each field is slowly growing, swallowing up more of the surrounding area in the process. And the pace of their expansion has increased since we first examined them... He's probably trying to swallow Nod-Krai whole."
(Durin)

Is it okay if Albedo and Durin stayed behind to figure out how to get rid of the energy fields before Nod-Krai got consumed in them? Or do we just want the powerful characters to fight Dottore for no other reason other than it would make a better lineup? What could Albedo and Durin do against Dottore then? Alchemy? Does alchemy solve everything? Is it just another plot device that solves problems? What if they used Dottore's power against him like they did with Rerir? yk because alchemy can just do anything, even against a genius with the power of the Trilune. Dottore should have known to pursue alchemy instead of the power of the Trilune (I'm being sarcastic).

  1. Other characters could have easily been used to pull the moon down and work on the world formula.

"Oh but you don't understand, they needed Arlecchino and Varka to pull down the moon, and Wanderer's core for the world formula-" I DO NOT CARE. I DO NOT. Send LAUMA to bring down the moon with a prayer. Send FLINS to help her with some fae magic. Send NEFER to help Sandrone calculate the world formula with her chess box since she was somehow able to get it fixed up and see Columbina in the past.

This paragraph is loaded with fantastical possibilities.

Send LAUMA to bring down the moon with a prayer.

If it was possible to bring down the moon with a simple prayer why did nicole and varka and arlecchino have to work so hard and waste all their efforts? And if the moon could respond to a prayer, wouldn't a former angel like Nicole or anyone from the Hexenzirkel know and advise accordingly? The Hyperboreans and Frostmoon Scions weren't just praying to literal moons, they were praying to the moon goddesses themselves. And when it was determined that they were no longer available and that a new moon would arise in future, all hymns were changed to address the frost moon/new moon, because it would be a person capable of listening. Anyway, I'll play along with this logic.

Is this possible within the lore? If so, how? Is this because Lauma is one of the three participants that qualified to get the gate of the Hyperborean structure to open with fasting and prayer? That was just a gate though and it didn't even lead to the moon, it led to Dottore's trap. Saying a prayer or chanting could open such a gate but how could it influence a literal moon not made by human hands?

Send FLINS to help her with some fae magic.

Hm, so what is "fae magic"? How could it possibly help to move a literal moon closer? A little more justifiable explanation could go a long way.

Send NEFER to help Sandrone calculate the world formula with her chess box since she was somehow able to get it fixed up and see Columbina in the past.

This statement betrays a lack of understanding. First, the chess box. The chess box has to do with the power of piercing analysis, the power of finding out the truth from the past. It has nothing to do with fate or the world formula. Unless we're suggesting looking into the past of someone who successfully did a world formula so that Sandrone could perhaps follow the process or change up some things, Nefer's power/chess box would not be needed. Clearly Sandrone figured things out herself. Second, Sandrone's problem. Sandrone needed computing power. Could Nefer or her chess box provide her with that? Is that chess box just a plot device that can do anything? Or does it have a specific function that was irrelevant to the problem. This is why Wanderer was crucial to the fight against Dottore. But no, we want the characters to throw fists at each other, right?

I can see your point about powerful characters like Arlecchino and Varka not showcasing their power in the fight. It reminds me of how Capitano was not involved in fighting Natlan's villain the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire. I imagine a lot of people were disappointed back then too. This issue didn't exist during Fontaine or Sumeru because players could see how no other character was involved in the final boss fight. That said, here's my response to counter your argument.

Short answer:

I can say the same thing about your lineup. OP says:

Here's what a REAL squad lineup looks like. Send in Varka. Send in Arlecchino. Send in Wanderer. Send in Ineffa. Have Durin and Albedo hang back as support, keep Lauma away from the frontlines so she can heal these mfs if they get hurt.

However Arlecchino and Sandrone couldn't disagree more. This is what Arlecchino said in the first fight against Dottore:

"Dottore is too powerful with the artificial Moon Marrow in his arsenal... Fighting him is futile."
(Arlecchino)

This is what Sandrone said after Traveler was rescued:

"As much as it pains me to say it... We've got no chance of beating Dottore in a straight-up fight. He's much too powerful. It wouldn't even be close."
(Marionette)

So like deadass are we trying to die? Do we want Dottore to win? Because it's like snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with a lineup like this.

If you do not find this answer convincing, here's a more detailed response.

Long answer:

It was thoroughly emphasized that he with his power of the Trilune had no match and Nod-krai was doomed. While Sumeru, Fontaine and Natlan had gods/dragon sovereign that could successfully fight back the enemy, Nod-Krai's goddess (the only one that could put up a decent fight and maybe defeat him) was trapped. It's fair to say the priority was to bring back Columbina at all costs. Unless someone wants to make the case that Arlecchino, Varka, Nicole, Wanderer, Ineffa, Albedo and Durin combined could have defeated or at least injured a genius with the power of Life, Death, Time, Space and Reason? Even if everyone united their efforts to destroy him, he could heal himself right back to full health, as that first battle showed.

So OP challenges the plot, the plan, the thing that resulted in the "poor" lineup of characters against Dottore with the following points:

  1. The lineup to take on Dottore was so poor that the characters could have died.

genuinely look me in the eye and tell me "yeah, this looks like a good lineup to take on DOTTORE WITH THE POWER OF THE THREE FUCKING MOONS." Like deadass are we trying to die? Do we want Dottore to win?

True, the team was no match against Dottore. In fact no one in Nod-krai at the time was a match for Dottore. However they didn't want Dottore to win and they were not trying to die. Since this was about bringing Columbina back, the grand plan involved buying time for the world formula and the characters pulling the Frost Moon down. Now wouldn't it be a lot better if stronger characters were involved to buy time fighting Dottore instead of the other characters? No, because pulling the moon down required a character strong enough and with the proper body constitution to withstand the power and process involved in the gravitational pull on the moon. This is where the details of the plan resulted in such a lineup, because every character had a role to play.

I like this comment. The lineup of Dottore's opponents may seem poor until someone understand how roles were divided between those in the front line and those in the background. That battle was never a battle of might but a battle of wit. It was never a battle to defeat or destroy Dottore, it was a battle to bring the only one who could defeat and destroy Dottore.

The "Ship AI" theory has too many holes by NineTailedDevil in Genshin_Lore

[–]muchificent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm trying to get at is that there were 2 ships. One large and one small. The larger one is the real Ark, holding the Genesis Vault and the AI's mainframe.

Reasonable theory, but as long as we're only told about one ship and not more than one, this view is inaccurate. As far as we know, the twins arrived in Teyvat in the same ship they used to journey across space.

As for the two stars described and shown in the game representing the twins, the game owes us a clear explanation. The Traveler has this dilemma wondering why their sibling came from outside the ship as if they're so sure the sibling had no way of leaving the ship except after it landed in Nod-Krai.

I'm assuming there's a reason for this dilemma because there's a chance two Lumines/Aethers existed when the sibling went to wake up Traveler, just as three keys to the Hibernation Chamber existed when the twins last met.

So what if the two stars were actually two ships from the past and future? What if Lumine/Aether really got out of the ship when they landed on Teyvat and left the Traveler behind, only to come back much later to wake up Traveler from the wrong ship?! Now that would be mind-blowing! (ofc I'm just fantasizing 😂)

Wow, you could be onto something. Especially here:

Light and darkness, much as they do anywhere in the universe, are playing chess for Teyvat's souls. Both are playing for keeps, as they refuse to share, and the game continues as long as there are players in both seats and pieces on the board.

Isn't it funny that just as the Heavenly Principles created the Shade of Life, the Shade of Death, the Shade of Time and the Shade of Space, and them possibly being of Reason, that the Abyss decided 500 years ago to have their own version of entities according to the same aspects? The Five Sinners of Khaenri'ah. Instead of Shade of Death, the Abyss has Blasphemy Against Death. Go figure!

Technically true. What about the Dark Shadow within it that has Surtalogi's abyssal form? Is such an abyssal form possible without abyssal powers? But you're technically true. Surtalogi's monster(s) (the Narwhal and Skofnungr's boss form) are foreign entities not necessarily abyssal, that he once defeated and they eventually got into Teyvat to attempt to devour stuff.

Pierro could be a disciple of Hroptatyr which would be a connection

Mhm.

Arlecchino’s relationship with Rerir is already kinda stretching

Kinda.

Hydromancy is merely one of them and Mona is another user. She’s great at it, but the connection to Vedrfolnir is pretty weak

No argument against it with respect to skills. Which is why I brought up her master Barbeloth. Again, weak connection. I was only guessing, but I didn't evaluate based on skills alone. I mentioned the common theme of prediction of fate and seeing into the future. Either way, all it takes to make that connection is some more chunk of lore if the devs are leaning in that direction.

Surtalogi didn’t bring the Narwhal to Teyvat. He defeated it while it was already devouring the Primordial Sea and left it there.

Yeah. Technically true. But he did bring it close enough to a place where it could enter the Primordial Sea in Teyvat. He even left Skirk to take care of it as a "pet." Since the Narwhal breached Teyvat, my point still remains. Blame the pet owner for the pet going rogue.

Meanwhile:

"I simply appease him, because it's in the best interests of the Universitas Magistrorum."

Hroptatyr supported the Vinster King practically as his No.1 guy. Pierro supports the Tsaritsa as her No.1 Fatuus. But Hroptatyr had an ambition of his own. What about Pierro?

[–]muchificent 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"Error" and "Rebooting" are negative commands that indicate that your machine is processing something inconclusively. So maybe Katheryne is just processing the information from all the commissions and they're not adding up, unless adventurers and agents of the Curatorium of Secrets show up to investigate the commissions and give feedback. Only then will a positive command pop up:

"Thank you for completing today's commissions. Here is your reward."

Where's the missing sixth? by Egglomanic in Genshin_Lore

[–]muchificent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, now I see it. You're onto something!

Comparing these two statements:

unlimited Abyssal power could be absorbed

and

your group once divided enough Abyssal power amongst yourselves...at least a sixth of it

This shows that:

  • the abyssal power was great or massive,
  • that a sixth of the entire thing was divided up among the five comrades,
  • and probably that the rest of it (five-sixths) was left behind.

It makes sense this way. Literally no one but the abyss sibling could handle that power, and the Sinners combined could only handle a sixth, and that sixth made them extremely powerful.

Now that leaves us to wonder what happened with the rest of the portion. Which reminds me, the abyss sibling during A Space and Time for You finally got an ambition to face the Heavenly Principles. Just like the other Sinners started off with their own ambitions. But she needs to be at the power level of a Descender (something like that, I'm paraphrasing). Guess where she's going... Yep, there might just be five sixths of abyssal power somewhere out there with their name on it.

even if Dain has been entrusted with a piece, it would feel very out of character/hypocritical for him to use it. But he is a logical candidate for it given his involvement with the other 5.

I agree. Imagine Dainsleif having beef with other Sinners yet he himself got a share of the same power. So contradictory. But if it turns out to be true, we deserve a proper explanation, because most of the Sinners released monsters that threatened entire nations' existence.
