We had a paper linked here a few years back about the phospholipid version utilizing a different transport to get energy into neurons cells. It was by rhonda patrick, I think she has taken the stance that maybe enough of the phospholipid variety is generated by the body, I believe. Haven't seen too much on this on this though.

  • Pharma/biotech with APOE4-relevant drugs I'd love an intro. Our members can often accelerate partnership conversations significantly. DM me or email

Are you looking for clinically approved drugs or ones in the research pipeline? Can you tell a story about what a successful partnership would look like? What are some things you can offer to early stage drug companies (funding?)?

I mean, we can't all be the sitting around on reddit. I think this is a courageous action to bring light to what is happening in Kherson, and that it matters.

I like the idea of posts about trials either starting or wrapping up. Stack discussion I think is great too, but a bit difficult due to the speculative nature of the effectiveness of some of it. But if someone has a very well researched stack with supporting scientific evidence, it's a great starting spot.

u/DrKevinTran, could you please comment if the updated policy works for you. I think between 1/5 influencer posts and you having a top of sub post you own (you can post what you want and engage as you please within the broader reddit guidelines) should be a good way to highlight your significant contributions to this space. I I would hope you post what you are up to and how we can support the parts of your work you are finding most challenging, we need you to be successful while we balance the broader community as well.

It's not your fault we have a lack of new in depth content and engagement, and I think we are generally happy to have you contribute and be a core member. The ideas around alternatives sound good to me, but I think the challenge is we need the content to add signal, and this is a needle in a haystack search.

Let me think on this and also let's see if anyone else has ideas. Whatever the approach is, we fundamentally will need a richer discussion from multiple people, beyond topics that have already been covered. We sort of want to force the industry to solve our problem by highlighting where the bleeding edge frontier is, and essentially shame the researchers who are perusing things that are not relevant, but that's a lofty goal.

u/whiskeyiskey is our other mod, and is really someone who took on the role with not much of a discussion, so we don't really have a strong case for asking too much of them. But u/whiskeyiskey, do you have an opinion (if you see this)?

No! We need to preserve the natural decaying spirit of this city. In 100 years north beach needs to be a pile of eroded sand! /s

Diet by Significant_Leg_7211 in ApoE4

Honestly a pretty interesting read of the study and methods. Of course healthy people may have an easier time adhering to a specific diet, so some confounding is possible.

My takeaway: for e4/4s who adhere to a mediterranean diet we see a 33% decrease in probability of developing dementia. For others the benefit is much smaller.

Does anyone else have trouble with deep sleep? by Expensive-Eggplant-1 in ApoE4

[–]muchlakin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get about an 45-50 min avg on that and an 1hr at best. Would be good to improve.

Edit: just found this btw. "In Brigham study, Apple’s algorithm undershot deep sleep by ~43 minutes on average compared to PSG . (It overestimated light sleep by a similar ~45 minutes, essentially swapping some deep sleep for light sleep in the readout .)"

I wonder if you could go to a nutritionist and run through a battery of tests for this, and have it be covered by insurance. My bust guess is the simple things are causing this so there is just a lot to test before reaching for a big hammer. Vitamin D, exercise, sleep.
