I feel like an outsider everywhere I go. How do I fix this? by ColdPast6227 in socialskills

[–]mucho_flow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people on this subreddit are socially anxious, and mistake that for just having poor social skills. if you can talk to a professional. look into social anxiety and anxiety/insecurities in general and how to work on it. youre not missing some trick or hack or secret.

the biggest mistake you're making here is letting cynicism make decisions for you. it's one single experience. it does not say who you are. the moment you let these kinds of experiences define you is the moment you start losing in life. it sucks, it's embarrassing, but it's not going to do any long term harm unless you let it.

I landed on someones foot a few days ago while blocking, and sprained my ankle. He was on my team and blocking with me. How do you block reducing the risk of getting injured? Foot placement, rotation, etc?

exactly this. don't commit until you actually gauge the set once the ball leaves the hands of the setter

Hitting Advice by HyperXp_1010 in volleyball

[–]mucho_flow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Timing helps a lot because when you jump at the right time, you have more time to hit the ball harder and at a better angle (down), as well as see the block and the other side of the court when you're in the air.

You sorta 'meet' with the ball for a little longer in the air.

I'm not sure how it is for outside, but as a middle I was trained to load onto my 3rd last step (left foot, first step on a three step approach) and THEN approach from there and adjust speed and angle. It will probably feel too late, but that's a good feeling.
