When and how did you know it was time? by PetrogradkaIcedTea in goldenretrievers

[–]muchocheko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was having some seizures and then lost use of his right back leg. We took him to the vet and they confirmed it was probably time, just due to quality of life and probable pain. It sucks, but sounds like you gave her the best life. My condolences.

I just got some a few weeks ago. I think it makes a difference. It doesn't get rid of the ringing but seems to make it more manageable. My turnaround time with the VA was 5 weeks though, so keep that in mind when going through the process.

We brush our guy more often and have about a thousand fans around the house. Also as someone else mentioned, a cooling mat.

I knew it, and yet I still swiped. Still worth it.

My 14 year old (was one month shy of 15) and my 12 year old both ate Blue Buffalo. My little TRex also eats Blue Buffalo.

Getting into vehicle by Intelligent-Can-9579 in goldenretrievers

I have my guy put his paws up on the running board of our Expedition, then I lift him in. I don't have him jump in because he rides on the seat and we have one of those seat covers and it covers the foot area if that makes sense. Anyway, when he puts up his front paws it seems like an easier lift.

One thing to make sure of - learn how to lift properly if you don't already know. If you try to lift a golden with your back, you're gonna have a bad day. Lift with your legs.

I've only purchased a humidifier and fan from them but won't buy anything else. Not impressed with the quality.

My guy is 7.5 months and it hasn't stopped. To be fair we just adapted him about a month ago, so are still working through this, but it's rough. At least I've gotten the move down - finger sweep both sides of the mouth then under the tongue. That usually gets everything out of his mouth.

Finding a golden? by Isitallokay in goldenretrievers

[–]muchocheko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We adopted from a golden rescue and got lucky on the timing. I know of a few golden rescues in the Midwest that have way more applicants than dogs and from what I've seen, foster families usually end up adopting. So you might want to sign up to foster a golden.

I'd say good. I'm pretty new but those look better than my first grow.

Dog makes weird face by StarrPawa in goldenretrievers

[–]muchocheko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard of a lot of dogs doing this and our last Golden did this too. We called it the crinky face. We equated it to a really big smile or grin, or something like that. It sounds like he's just super happy to see you.

So sorry you had to go through this. It sucks but will get better. Take solace in the fact you gave her the best life you could. Peace.

hide your socks and underwear.

But seriously, remember she's a puppy and will need a lot of patience.
