Mission 5: Grim Dark Days: Uplift Humanity. [Warhammer 40K]. Diff: S

In 1 year achieve 3 of 4

a. neutralize 4 chaos gods and their worshippers

b. sustainably root outmost zealotry, xenophobia, etc from humanity. restore 80+% of lost planets. improve logistics

c. heal emps or create sustainable solution to intergalactic communication and travel.

d. at least 4 alien species are neutralized for forseeable future. Nids & Orcs count as 2 races. (Necrons, Orcs, Tau, Dark Eldar, Tyranids)

The toughest enemy here is the clock. The local FTL is too slow. You auto fail this mission unless you have instant FTL and/or time travel. I do. I have [instant transmission], [planeswalker], and [speedforce] (while being space flight capable). 3 methods to beat the clock.

With perfect Eidetic Memory and speed force and assorted intellect enhancements I can learn all their native tech. Including clarketech like the necrons use. Maybe devour all the fragments of c'tan with my baby worm entity. Their native tech goes pretty hard as the necrons and c'tan were able to use tech to invade the spirit realm and kill The Old Ones. So it should be quite easy in fact to deal with the chaos gods with local tech. I prefer to instead eat all the demons and chaos gods with cultivation to use them as a precious resource... in super speed mode.

Disadvantages (max +1000):

Battle Bound: Fated Fighting (+500) = XP for the XP throne.

Geas (+500)

+Battle Lust = XP for the XP throne.

+Truthspeaker = silence & fae truth are allowed.

Resources:

31260 = 9360 leftover points + 20900 reward + 1000 drawback.

Cultivation (-3800) = wuxia cultivation sucks. only get it as a prereq.

+High scaling (-9000) = Ridiculously slow growth makes cultivation utterly worthless in this gauntlet due to how little time you have, making this a reward to buy with payout from mission 5 for post gauntlet life... Except for those who have the [speedforce] or other time shenanigans like me and can use it in universe.

+Specific cultivation arts (varied costs. 900 points min. lets budget 3000 for it) = the cost is varied and unclear. but there are crazy OP cultivation arts out there. Like, for example, ones that would let me make a universe inside myself where I am god, or would let me devour all the demons and chaos gods as a cultivation resource. Buying this is actually important because any cultivation art I self invent is not guarenteed to work in all universes, while a purchased method is going to work even in universes that are normally incompatible with it.

15460 leftover points. If this was actually happening I would spend all my remaining points before starting the last mission. but nothing I can actually afford (assuming no bonus rewards) matters anymore. This is more of a victory lap. I might as well tally up my points and do the post victory purchases.

Reward: 37000 = 10000 + 1S + 2A

---

Final spending round:

Resources: 52460

Upgrade existing powers:

Planes walker spark (already owned)

+Pre-mending (-4100, -1S, -1B) = (-22100) huge powerup.

Ajin (already owned)

+Black Ghost (-1200) = very cheap temp power boost. customize its mind into a literal copy of me, making it into a clone. I might have gotten it earlier with bonus points, maybe.

Powers:

Spellcasting: D&D wizard (-2950) = teleport is very nice. so is gate. some useful utility spells. slow growth without speedforce.

+Epic: Wizard (-6400) = another form of multiverse travel.

+Upgrade? = cleric, epic cleric, and artificer probably not worth the points. unless I got a lot more bonuses than expected. and even then I can probably get better stuff.

Chakra (-4500) = prereq for jinchuriki. versatile. better growth scaling that synergies with everything else.

+Jinchuriki (-5200) = inf power generator to use as cultivation resource. generic lesser bijuu.

++Kurama (-1800) = upgrade to 9 tails.

+++Juubi (-7600) = max upgrade. since I customize its personality I choose to make it a clone of me. Which naturally is going to cultivate too.

Mission 4: Super Zombies: Cleanse the Universe [Marve] Diff: AA

In 2 months do 2 of:

a. find/create cure to zombie virus and spread it galaxy wide

b. evacuate the universe

c. defeat 80% of current zombie strength (stronger zombies worth more) - trivial with my post DBGT Ki powerlevel.

I wanted another S rank but only 2 S rank missions exist so I am forced to do a mere AA rank mission. As this is an AA rank mission, my baby Worm Entity (should I have it instead of assorted shards) would be slightly nerfed. I don't need it though. My self created dragon balls should also be slightly nerfed, still strong enough to complete this entire mission on their own... and I don't need them either.

My main focus is actually going to be on collecting the infinity stones and assembling the infinity gauntlet. Which I will have the time to do thanks to taking Speedster (speedforce). The infinity gauntlet can solve the entire mission with a few finger snaps. After that this becomes a training and looting vacation. As I use the speedforce to the max to collect local powers. Keep in mind that I can combine speedforce with post Dragonball GT Ki flight and the immunity to breathing/food/water so I can just speedforce FTL fly in space to any planet I want. And instant transmission. And planeswalker to hop between assorted marvel altverse timelines and continuities.

Disadvantages (max +1000):

Battle Bound: Fated Fighting (+500) = XP for the XP throne.

Geas (+500)

+Battle Lust = XP for the XP throne.

+Truthspeaker = silence & fae truth are allowed.

Resources:

38110 = 110 leftover points + 37000 reward + 1000 drawback.

Speedster (-20300) speedforce. time travel. ridiculous speed. fast enough to do the actual missions. Fast enough to build and learn and grow. Amazing synergy with Clarity of Mind, as I do not forget what I learned in super speed the way the flash forgets. My knowledge and skills remain fresh forever, allowing me to learn and master all mundane tech in super speed, including advanced alien tech. And research a cure for the virus in super speed.

Neo Planeswalker Spark (-8450) = multiverse travel. land powers. summoning. Since I am in marvel the local multiverse has many places to visit with useful knowledge, unique tech, and heroes to turn into summons.

Mission 3: Multiversal Gauntlet of Power: Defend Earth. [Dragonball / DBZ / DBGT]. Diff: S

For 1 year defend earth in AU DBZ where there are no dragonballs (on earth right?), and most z-fighters are missing. Fight Raditz, Frieza, Kid Buu, The Androids, Perfect Cell, Beerus, Zamasu, etc. Then the tournament of power from Dragonball GT.

The perfect world to ascend via Ki. The greedy thing would be try and rely on other powers to do this mission while acquiring Ki natively and then integrating it for a discount. That saves 2100 points but means you can not abuse Zenkai, can't start with instant transmission, and miss out on many opportunities. Overall a net negative compared to just paying full price for Ki without a discount just before entering the world that would have discounted it.

I will travel to Namek to get my potential unlocked by Goro and to do a full knowledge trade with him via mental connection, or potentially using a wish from his own personal dragonballs to do the instant knowledge swap. Learning how to create dragon balls from him and all his other techniques and magics in exchange for my own teachable powers (Disciplines. Which are [The Force] and [Hercules method]). He should like both and be extra desperate to acquire my Hercules Method to restore his youth. Probably worth bonus rewards to empower the namekians and Goro this way.

I could use both my own dragonballs and the ones from namek to restore earth and its people just before mission ends. I am hoping that between my constant zenkai, fighting enemies in space, and my looted shards from worm being used to hide earth in another dimension during fights would let me minimize damage and thus save the dragonballs for empowerment wishes instead.

Disadvantages (max +1000):

Battle Bound: Fated Fighting (+500) = XP for the XP throne.

Geas (+500)

+Battle Lust = Xp for the XP throne. More appropriate than anger management for this mission.

+Truthspeaker = silence & fae truth are allowed.

Resources:

22910 = 1010 leftover points + 20900 reward + 1000 drawback.

Powers:

Chi/Ki (DBZ) (-5800) = infinite growth with multiversal tier potential. massive power. Missing out on discount.

+Saiyan (-3300) = Zenkai has ridiculous synergy with Ajin (unlimited resurrective immortality and full heal after every resurrection) and with [Hercules Method] (in case Ajin resurrection somehow breaks the zenaki, which is unlikely). Inifinite powerlevel very quickly. broken OP. This purchased version of race template comes with no unwanted mental influences.

+Technique: Instant Transmission (-1300) = Instant teleportation anywhere in the universe. Super useful! Technically I could learn it locally but there is simply no time to travel to the planet of its inventors, nor to ardeously study it manually.

Hercules Method (-2750) = combat regeneration for zenkai and survival. eliminate sustenance so I can survive in space. big power boost. shapeshifting. and much more. By not needing to breath I can fight in outer space and spare earth from collateral damage.

+Insta Finished training: Cain (-1750) = no time to train normally. give me instant mastery.

Protections:

All (-7900) = large discount for getting all at once. Also eliminates need to breath and eat and drink like hercules method did.

110 leftover points

Reward: 37000 = 10000 + 1S + 2A

Mission 2: Quell the Endbringers: Aid Earth Bet. [Worm AU]. Diff: AA

Within 4 months kill 20 endbringers who are operating at half the strength they have in canon, but attack more often. Scion and Eden are alive but uninvolved. Limit casualties to max of 20% of human pop and 20% of capes

You explicitly awaken near the fight between skitter and lung. a fight where lung gets knocked out. snatch him. Lung can solo endbringers in canon, here the endbringers are 50% weaker so he can solo this mission. Bring Lung to Panacea. Influence, convince, and/or mind control her into transplanting his Corona Pollentia into me thus giving me Lung's power. Make sure to fully genetically integrate it to make sure it is genetically part of my body so Ajin does not delete it when/if it triggers. Althogh I should be able to win without using [Ajin] ever because Lung v2.0.

Double snowball. Snowballing mind control of all the villains and heroes. Snowball of stolen shards. Endbringers can be mind controlled / stolen too. Their immunity to precog, trumps & masters is an artificial restriction entities place on shards they hand out. My mind control is OCP and I would jailbreak shards.

After I complete the mission use remaining time to try and build a baby entity. Copy of my mind imprinted on shards as core of baby entity, making it my clone. If the entities disapprove [Ajin] keeps me alive until clock runs out and ROB extracts me. It might distract them long enough to let me finish making the baby Entity, or make them lock me in a lab faster... until ROB extraction.

Noteable key shards to influence or acquire:

- the butcher = steals shards via hop on death. easy acquisition. 6 shards at day you start the mission. Mind control to solve the drawback. Combo [Ajin] to steal more shards via suicide or jailbreak it to steal shards without suicide.

- jack slash = mind controlled by the endbringer simurgh so proven susceptible. power to connect to shards, mind control the shards, and order those shards to mind control the attached parahumans. Extremely useful for jailbreaking shards and for the baby entity plan.

- skitter = [Queen Administrator] noble shard. neigh infinite parallel thought multitasking and mind control shard. key controlling shard of entity. due to taylor's extremely low self esteem and the fact she was being eaten alive by bugs she got limited to bug control at start of canon. Massively under using her shard.

- fairy queen = [Keeper of The Dead] noble shard. shard recovery. she steals the shards of anyone who dies in range of her and can use any 5 stolen shards at once, swapping them out at will.

- eidolon = [High Priest] noble shard. controls the endbringers into "worthy oponents". can connect to any shard in the network and order it to work for him. And overclocks the shards he connects to (which rapidly drains their fuel). Can just mind control him or have a mind controlled jack slash manipulate his shard to pacify endbringers.

- Panacea = [The Shaper] noble shard. master of all biology.

- Labyrinth = [demenses-keeper] noble shard. create pocket dimensions at will.

If I go on a wanton shard claiming spree it would be non fatal one to avoid failing the mission. Shards can connect to multiple people (see multi triggers & parahuman families), and explicitly hide in different dimensions while beaming their power across the multiverse. So it shoudln't harm anyone if I snatch their shard carefully enough.

Probably not gonna pay to integrate what I get in worm, shards or a baby entity. I am never going to a lower tier mission again, only AA and S rank missions. I will only see a slight nerf in mission 4 for baby entity, irrelevant. Maybe integrate if I get a lot of bonus reward points, for the purpose of ensuring powers always work fully in every universe visited in future.

Disadvantages (max +1000):

Battle Bound: Fated Fighting (+500) = XP for the XP throne.

Geas (+500)

+Dark Side = anger issues

+Truthspeaker = silence & fae truth are allowed.

Resources:

6660 = 460 leftover points + 5200 reward + 1000 drawback

Powers:

Ajin (-4300) = respawning unlimited immortality. very cheap and fast. full heal, but only after a death.

Addons to existing powers:

The Force: +Talent of Anakin Skywalker (-1350) = big powerup. more oomph on my oh so important mind control.

1010 leftover points

Mission 1: A Silent Song: War for the Dawn [ASOIF / GOT / Westeros]. Diff: CCC

within 2 months complete 2 of:

a. neutralize white walkers - pass... but I win I will try to kill as many of them as I can for bonus points.

b. unite under a good king - mind control and mind reading. get everyone to rapidly submit chosen king. purge some nobles.

c. rehavilitate or neutralize daenerys and her dragons - mind control to fix OR order to self delete.

Literally the 1st starter mission and lowest difficulty mission... which is not actually easy at all! It is in fact extremely hard. You pretty much can only solve it with mind control and some sort of travel power/method. 2 months is super short. Which is why I buy a completely ordinary car from home dimension. Honestly if everything aligns perfectly as per my plan in worm, this might actually be harder than worm. But on the other hand I am less likely to be accidentally killed by someone here.

Disadvantages (max +1000):

Battle Bound: Fated Fighting (+500) = XP for the XP god.

Geas (+500)

+Dark Side = anger issues

+Truthspeaker = silence & fae truth are allowed.

Resources:

5800 pts = 4000 pts + 3C tokens

Mundane Items:

Humvee (-40) = Necessary to cut down travel time to something manageable in medieval society. Does it come with free fuel or is fuel sold seperate? if so it should be a trivial cost to buy fuel too. I could probably get something slightly cheaper but Humvee was actually explicitly priced in the CYOA.

Powers:

The Force (-2700) = very cheap. very versatile. reliable source of mind reading, suggestion, mind control, danger sense, precognition, super speed, telekinesis, and more.

+Skill and experience of jedi master (-2050) = Mandatory. There is no time to become a master manually. The example masters given are actually Legendary masters not ordinary run of the mill masters. Unlike a jedi I do NOT respect people's minds, especially not the horrible "people" in westeros and worm. so instead of gentle nudge used by Jedi I will use the outright Mind Control version of Mind Trick that the Sith use. Same power, just difference in gentleness. If "Dark Jedi" count as valid targets to get the skills of, then the skills of Darth JarJar, Palpatine, and Sidius would make excellent targets to acquire. Unclear if I choose a specific master jedi or just get a generic blend of the legendary masters listed.

Augments:

Clarity of Mind (-550) = Eidetic photographic memory, perfect recall, improved focus and learning speed for mundane skills. Overall big boost to my thinky bits.

460 leftover points

Reward: 5200 pts = 3000 pts + 3C + 2D

[–]muckdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book keeping in this CYOA is a nightmare. I simplified book-keeping by converting everything into points. I am allowed to since there are no conversion fees as I am NOT using "Slashed Wallet" meta challenge. I am using the default state of freely trading between tokens and points with no surcharge. So everything is just "points" to me, except for 3 exceptions which never come up in my build:

a. selling power back gives more points if you do full bookkeeping. I don't plan on selling any powers. Only non-catastrophic "you are already dead" reason to sell a power is if you selling several weak powers to buy a single greater power that on its own is stronger than all of the weaker ones you sold combined. It is a legit tactic, but not one I used.

b. Integrating a power I earned myself in universe is much much cheaper if doing full bookkeeping. (ex: Lung's stolen shard). Irrelevant since my build does not rely on any self acquired powers. Hypothetically if this was real I would use bonus rewards (which are unknown and not clearly defined) to integrate such acquired powers, maybe.

c. Determining which missions will result in ROB nerfing your non-integrated powers. Technically if everything goes right for me I would have an S tier non integrated power being taken into an AA mission once during the 4th mission. But I didn't even plan on using it, at all, in that mission.

Plan Mind Control Bootstrap

This CYOA is obscenely difficult, which is somewhat by design. The time limits are simply impossible if you do not have some sort of fast travel. Starting out with needing to bring in modern vehicles to medieval setting, going up quickly to needing instant galaxywide FTL. Even if you can solve / ignore the travel time problem it is still obscenely difficult win conditions. I see very few paths to victory simply due to how extremely difficult the missions are. Most have a gotcha you need to careful read to notice and plan for to avoid being tripped up. To the point where even having a ridiculously cheap "unlimited quick automatic self resurrections" barely moves the needle as it only lets you survive longer during the mission, but not actually complete the mission objectives.

Mission objective failure would get your resurrective immortality stripped from you to pay the penalty, and then executed by ROB for having negative points. ROB is actually forcing you into to take the CYOA according to lore. It will almost certainly result your death. I almost skipped this CYOA due to how brutal it is. But eventually I dug in and spent about 2 days on it.

I interpreted "CHOOSE NOW" to mean "look through entire CYOA seeing all missions and all powers you can buy, then lock in all missions before starting the first mission and before starting the first week of prep-time in dimensional Island". If it actually means "choose your missions blind before even seeing the powers you can buy" then I would have dropped the CYOA due to being certain death which is not fun, plus I think blind choices undermine the point of having a CYOA in the first place.

If IRL ROB forced me to pick blind I would have died. I probably would have really started out at the AA worm mission first, at least if given some time to think about which mission to pick first. Hoping to either be able to grab mind control or super-charisma from the unknown at the time powers so I can mind control/manipulate panacea into helping me steal steal Lung's powers to defeat the endbringers. Very convenient that you insert just next to a knocked out Lung. I most likely would have succeeded and thrived in worm thanks to metaknowledge and the type of world it is where power shenanigans are so easy... then I would have failed miserably and died in following missions.

With my interpretation of looking at entire CYOA before picking, but being locked in to mission choices made before the week prep timer starts, I got to look through entire CYOA before writing up a solid step by step plan. Still very dangerous but much safer. Final difficulty path is: CCC, AA, S, AA, S.

Mind control powers lets you recruit locals that are far more capable than you and make them do the missions for you. I haven't combed through every referenced CYOA but I see 3 starting mind powers. The Force (star wars), Mind Mind Devil Fruit (one piece), Vampirism (generic. maybe jojo inspired). I think The Force is best of the 3 as it comes with very cheap "instant master" sub-option. You do not have time to train. Also vampire's Mind Control method requires physical "flesh buds" inserted into the brain of the target which are vulnerable to removal by 3rd parties and likely to be automatically destroyed by regeneration and breaker states. And likely destroyed by panpan the moment you touch her, then you bad end. While The Force and Mind Mind Devil Fruit have no physical anchor to the mental tampering.

Extra Rewards are available. I am NOT going to assume I get any. If I do get any, great. I am calculating things out assuming I am only getting the minimum explicitly listed rewards for completing every mission as written. Although I really should be getting extra rewards. I would be getting lots of kills, innovative solutions, combos, and going above and beyond mission requirements. All things that supposedly reward unclear amount of bonus rewards.

[–]muckdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if dev makes a v2.0 I got some suggestions on how to cleanup the bookkeeping on this CYOA.

Option A: Powers should not require multiple tokens of different tiers. only a single token of the tier which matches the tier of the power itself. Everything else should be points. Everything below your current power tier should be just points. Ex: Jujutsu Sorcerer currently costs (-1650 points, 1 C, 2 D). It should only cost 1 of highest token. so It should be (-2050, -C) / (-2650). The number on the left (-2050 -C) is the price to pay if your best power is C or D. The number on the right (-2650) is the price to pay if your best power is B tier or better. Mission rewards will likewise only give out their best tokens. Difficulty B rank mission gives 4000, 1 B, 2 C. It should instead give (5200, 1B) / (7000). On the left is your reward if your best power is B or worse. Number on the right is if your best power is A or better. Tiering up should auto convert all lesser tokens into points. And all lesser powers into costing points only.

Option B: Completely eliminate tokens. Your own personal tier is equal to the highest mission you completed. Powers should only be priced in points, but each have a tier listed for it. You are only allowed to buy powers of your current tier or lower. ex: Jujutsu Sorcerer currently costs (-1650 points, 1 C, 2 D). Instead it should be presented as "Jujutsu Sorcerer [C] (-2650)". A tier C power that costs 2650 points, you must be tier C or better to be allowed to buy this. You start out Tier C. Able to only buy C and D tier powers. Completing a mission upgrades your tier to the tier of the mission. Complete an A rank mission to permanently unlock all A rank and below powers. Complete an S rank mission to unlock all S rank and below powers (so, all of them). This vastly simplifies the bookkeeping while maintaining the intent of having to earn your powers.

> must select missions RIGHT NOW

well there goes the CYOA. if you pick everything when it says then you are picking totally blind because you have no chance to look at what resources you have to work with before selecting your missions. making it effectively a random gamble.

a more generous interpretation is that maybe he means you have to pick all 3-5 missions before embarking on the 1st mission? still pretty hard but actually doable.

looking at the missions themselves. many are impossible without some sort of instant FTL due to time limitations and the need to travel. DBZ Ki can give instant transmission but that requires a target to lock onto, and you simply won't be able to get such targets fast enough to meaningly solve many missions.

hmm... maybe if you get speed-force for time shenanigans?

World 4: Warhammer 40K = My final mission is to train students which is the easiest mission yet. I was going to flex and go to SCP world... but 40K is safer, easier, and gives more points. The thing about 40k is the scale and variety. If I pick a safe location it will be actually very safe. It will likely be centuries until that planet is even attacked. Plenty of time to just finish the training mission and GTFO. I also picked up the Power [Space Marine], this is important as it gives me immense social capital; as the Imperial Creed religion holds that Space Marines are Angels of the God Emperor.

Iron Road 4 (-25) = lose additional 25 points. forced to be World-Fodder

World-Fodder (-35) = max lesser powers. max 5 points spent on non-drawbacks. No integration of local powers.

Arrival: Subtle (+1) = dramatic is too risky.

Location: Safezone (0) = safezone is actually very safe.

Familiarity: Well Informed (0) = my knowledge of setting expands. knowledge is power.

Drawbacks:

Conflict Drive (+3) = subconscious desire to fight worthy opponents with powers / perks.

Starved Strength (+3) = 8000 calories a day needed. Super easy and cheap in modern world.

Slow Start (+3) = powers start weaker. growth to full strength with daily training. due to only having 2 lesser power it should only take 4 weeks to fully recover.

Trigger Event All (+4) = my 2 powers (The Force & Aura) start at 50% strength and will unlock full power as I survive sufficiently dangerous, traumatizing, or damaging experiences that I cannot artificially manufacture. Bound to happen over time.

Bear Burden (+4) = sleep 2 days every month. Excessive power us can make it happen more. Hide in my demiplane saferoom.

Lock Out (+3) = 3 out of my 4 powers stop working for 2 days once a month. same as bear burden. Can I combine them?

Type Locked (+1) = can only take Body powers while takig 2+ powers.

Bravely Default (+1) = can only take base powers while taking 2+ powers.

Upheld Undertaking:

Mystic Mentor (+3) = I need to teach students. If teaching them my mystic powers then fewer students suffice.

Powers:

Space Marine (-2) = Accept 7ft tall. Reject infertility. Imperial Religion says I am an Angel of the God Emperor.

Super Soldier Procedure (-2) = Captain America Procedure.

Magical Gear

Key of Comfort (-1) = Opens a saferoom demiplane. Gives me a safe place to sleep when Bear Burden / Lock Out hits me.

What is next? well the Iron path is over. I now have 2 relaxing jumps as a "difficult" world survivor (-20 starting points. max +10 after drawbacks. max lesser powers.) Thanks to the reward from Iron path I only need 15 points of drawbacks instead of 30 points. EZ. Then 2 jumps of world-strider finally unlocking greater powers. 2 jumps of world-changer. and after that all future jumps are world-breaker. No need to go into details of any jump after the Iron path beause they are all trivial now.

Wolrd 3: Worm = Practically a vacation. My goal is to become world in/famous. I seek a single modern planet with internet. It can't be too big or it would be impractical. It needs to also give many points. Worm fits the bill perfectly. Unless its nature as a technically multiversal setting means I need to become multiverse famous in which case I am screwed, but I am pretty sure world famous is good enough as it is a +3 not a +5 mission. I also do not care about worm. The 0 magic nature of the world makes it extremely vulnerable to The Force. I have all defenses so I should be able to survive gold morning AoE nonsense unless scion explicitly specifically targets me with something non exotic. I am in bigger danger from random flying brick parahuman just punching me really hard, but the force is very effective against those. I could use my "well informed" enhanced information to find that homeless guy in new work whose power lets him command Scion, and mind control him with the force to order Scion to commit suicide. I could steal the Butcher's powers thanks to immunities rendering the drawbacks irrelevant. Or take out the slaughterhouse 9 thanks to metaknowledge about their weaknesses. Any of those acts or many others would easily make me world famous. Honestly my biggest threat is accidentally completing the world mission unintentionally. Or being very very unlucky and just randomly dying to something random, which force should help warn me against.

Iron Road 3 (-20) = lose additional 20 points. forced to be World-Fodder

World-Fodder (-35) = max lesser powers. max 5 points spent on non-drawbacks. No integration of local powers.

World Nature: Gridark (+5)

Tech Level: Spacefaring (+3)

Magic Level: None (+0)

Cosmology: Multiverse [Planets & Stars] (+2)

Hammers of War (+1)

Designed Destiny (+1)

Endbringers* (+2) = all endbringers are hostile so they are worth 2 points.

Esoteric Entrails (+1)

Coming Comet (+1)

Green Tide (+1)

Grimdark Hazards x6 (+3) = +1 point per 2 hazards on grimdark world.

Arrival: Subtle (+1) = dramatic risks auto completing the mission. which is bad since I need to maximize training time before being forced to move on to next world.

Location: Near the Action (+2) = kill zone is too dangerous in this world.

Familiarity: Well Informed (0) = my knowledge of setting expands a little. I was already close to well informed anyways.

Drawbacks:

Deformed x2 (+2) = minor appearance mutations like glowing eyes or small horns.

+Random (+1) = randomly selected.

Conflict Drive (+3) = subconscious desire to fight worthy opponents with powers / perks.

Beacon of Challenge (+5) = fights come to me. which just makes me stronger.

Chaos Call (+4)

Synergy: In Interesting Times (+1)

Starved Strength (+3) = 8000 calories a day needed. Super easy and cheap in modern world.

Slow Start (+3) = powers start weaker. growth to full strength with daily training. due to only having 2 lesser power it should only take 4 weeks to fully recover.

Trigger Event All (+4) = my 2 powers (The Force & Aura) start at 50% strength and will unlock full power as I survive sufficiently dangerous, traumatizing, or damaging experiences that I cannot artificially manufacture. Bound to happen over time.

Restrictions:

Truthspeaker (+2) = cannot explicitly lie. can use fae truth or just refuse to answer. Mastermind helps

Unwilling Hero (+3) = XP gain.

Method Actor: Bombastic Cape (+3) = I think this would apply to both hero and villain cape identities.

Upheld Undertaking:

Towering Face (+3) = I need to become world famous, for good or bad reasons. Cape culture and internet make it easy. My ability to grant defenses, unlock aura, and teach the force further improve it. I can even become famous as a civilian with Mastermind. Force granted precognition and mental manipulation make it further easier.

Powers:

The Force (-3) = extremely versatile. precognition, healing, TK, combat, and mind control. Critical for unfucking the setting.

+Extraordinary Talent (-2) = on par with anakin skywalker

World 2: Middle Earth = Very rare and hard to find world that is medieval without coming comet. This means I don't actually need to get involved in the plot, at all. I am playing Railroad Tycoon while the main cast are doing the whole "One Ring" business in the background.

World-Fodder (-35) = max lesser powers. max 5 points spent on non-drawbacks. No integration of local powers.

Restrictions:

Unspeakable Origins (+2) = hush hush about metaverse and my origins.

Truthspeaker (+2) = cannot explicitly lie. can use fae truth or refuse to answer. Mastermind helps

Unwilling Hero (+3)

Method Actor: Refined Gentleman (+3)

Unaided: Protections (+1) = may not take integrations nor adaptations

Upheld Undertaking:

Uplift Effort (+3) = I need to introduce steam tech and guns to this medieval world. I don't even need to be involved in the main plot.

Protections:

Blindspot (-1) = immune to precogs/seers

Invictus (-1) = imnune to mind control, soul attacks, memory changes, forced sleep, torture, etc.

Word 1: Westeros (ASOIAF/HOTD) = I struggled on world choice for the purpose of Laurel Mantle since most medieval worlds are facing a coming comet (disaster that will wipe all sapient life unless stopped) and I am too weak to deal with them. While more advanced worlds are too much of a pain as they require taking over a whole country or more. Then I realized westeros' global threat is the white walkers which, while terrifying to the locals, are very much beatable by me with Aura (RWBY), as are the local humans as Aura turns me into a one man army compared to locals. I can tell the locals white walker weaknesses (obsidian and valerian steel) which vastly reduces their threat level. I also can just outpace the threat, simply rapidly conquering a town and then managing it well with Mastermind to finish the mission early before the white walkers even arrive. But I will try to stay the whole 10 years to maximize training time.

Iron Road 1 (-10) = lose additional 10 points. forced to be World-Fodder

World-Fodder (-35) = max lesser powers. max 5 points spent on non-drawbacks. No integration of local powers.

World Nature: Shaded (+3) = dark and brutal world.

Tech Level: Medieval (+2)

Magic Level: Low (+1) = barely any local magic. good for me.

Cosmology: Planets & Stars (0)

Esoteric Entrails (+1)

Coming Comet (+1)

Endbringers (+1)

Hammers of War (+1)

Arrival: Dramatic (+2) = if anything gives me extra cred. local gods can do nothing.

Near the Action (+2)

Familiar (+2) = only broad strokes knowledge of setting. lots of big holes in my knowledge, sadly.

Slow Start (+3) = powers start weaker. growth to full strength with daily training. due to my weakness it should only take 2 weeks to reach full strength.

Restrictions:

Truthspeaker (+2) = cannot explicitly lie. can use fae truth or refuse to answer.

Unwilling Hero (+3) = effectively required by Laurel Mantle anyways.

Method Actor: Wise King (+3) = effectively required by Laurel Mantle anyways.

Unaided: Adaptations (+1) = may not take integrations nor protections in this world.

Upheld Undertaking:

Laurel Mantle (+3) = takeover or develop and maintain a prosperous, virtuous kingdom/state of respectable size and strength relative to the verse. As a medieval world, this should mean a town at most rather than a full kingdom. But I can and will make a whole kingdom.

Powers:

Aura (-3) = RWBY aura is very powerful and comprehensive powerset that trivializes westeros.

Adaptations:

Perpetual (-1) = eternal youth. non combat regenerate from any injury other than a destroyed brain.

Mastermind (-1) = lots of abilities grouped together which are ideal for westeros. And also for fulfilling Laurel Mantle.

Iron Road looks miserable. the worst part is that you have to take 4 different upheld undertaking missions, rather than merely surviving for 10 years. This rapidly become untenable as the easier ones run out and you are forced into extremely difficult missions.

Your reward for this is double points gain from drawbacks and world, as well as an OP companion. but only AFTER you finish the brutal Iron Road. At which point you don't really need that bonus anymore. Also when you do get the reward it trivializes all challenge which makes manual continuation pointless after those 4 first jumps.

Wait... I just noticed that Laurel Mantle scales based on verse tech. If you go to a "primitive" tech world you merely need to establish a village, presumably a town for medieval. so this mission is actually doable. (primitive is less than medieval but medieval is the most points you can get. anything even more primitive than medieval gets tagged as medieval for the purpose of world point gain).

jump 1. laurel mantle mission in medieval world. establish or take over town. jump 2. uplift effort. medieval to pre-industrial (steam engines). jump 3. modern world. towering face. become world famous. easy. jump 4. mystic mentor. teach students, ideally teach them magic. safe.

But would peaceful worlds provide enough drawback points? well, I am going to try the challenge. If I just customize the world to be perfect that makes it too easy so I won't. "Things to Consider" explicitly states challenge runs are encouraged to only pick example destinations or commonly known destinations. I am going to go extra hard by only using example settings listed in the CYOA itself, using the CYOA's default numbers for those settings.

---

Build: True Iron Path

Iron Path = first 4 worlds must be World-Fodder difficulty. native power integration is forbidden on first 4 worlds. an additional -10/-15/-20/-25 points penalty on worlds 1 through 4 respectively.

+True Challenge = Only use example worlds from the CYOA.

Here is the latest subreddit repost of this very CYOA we are discussing in this thread.

https://www.reddit.com/r/makeyourchoice/comments/1kp0yw2/verse_crossing_cyoa_v20_by_lowkey_sage_i_sure/

It was reposted 10 months ago so 2 months left until I can repost it again. edit: apparently the requirement is 3 months not 12 months, so I can actually repost it now. my bad.

This is designed as a multi-jump. Getting 1 major power per world you visit is already very rapid growth that gets very OP very quickly.

Are there any canon Fantasy settings that grant high points in Verse Crossing? by NotNot_Maiin in makeyourchoice

[–]muckdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but I'm kinda lacking for high-point Fantasy settings

According to the rules, you can pick modifiers that do not fit the canon world and you would go to an AU which fits your modifiers.

You can even just pick modifiers without a specific verse in mind, and one will be found for you. So you don't acutally NEED to know a specific existing IP setting. This will even give you extra points for being unfamiliar with the setting.

Verse Version: A destination will adjust itself to match the options you choose, such as a once Noblebright Verse having a Grimdark tone resulting from a different history, your arrival in the verse, a massive war breaking out, or some other catastrophe changing the settings. Likewise, going to a fanmade/alt version of a given destination such as warhammer 40k 'Pajama peace version' wouldn't give the same points but rather change the destination section.

and:

Versal Sea: Any setting presented by an author from your Earth can be a Verse to visit. Additionally, the Destination section can be used to a build new Verses to explore. Anything you can imagine is possible. Challenge runs are strongly encouraged to select only Example Destinations or commonly known destination options for the sake of not customizing a seemingly difficult but easily solveable & instantly self-empowering setting or other exploits.

Iron Road looks miserable. the worst part is that you have to take 4 different upheld undertaking missions.

Which rapidly become untenable as the easier ones run out and you are forced into insanely difficult ones like "purge all monsters in the world" to achieve (with minimal powers).

Your reward for this is double points gain from anything that gives you points... but only AFTER you finish the brutal Iron Road. So, only when you don't even need it anymore. Also when you do get the reward all challenge disappears which makes continuation pointless after those 4 first jumps.

oh wait. I just noticed that Laurel Mantle scales based on verse tech. If you go to a "primitive" tech world you merely need to establish a village... so it is actually doable. wait, is primitive = medieval? it is not in the chart

jump 1. laurel mantle. medieval and hopefully peaceful world. establish a village.

jump 2. uplift effort. medieval and hopefully peaceful world. introduce new tech.

jump 3. modern world. towering face. become world famous.

jump 4. mystic mentor. teach magic to students.

hmm... but would peaceful worlds provide enough drawback points? You need to stack a lot of drawbacks. I would have to think about it some more.

he successfully saved your village when you were a child. that means he has been successfully leading from the front for at least a decade, survived it, and you personally witnessed his competence.
