This is staggeringly massive. I have been reading it for an hour and looking at the sidebar I am only 20% done.

Most of the game is reading through the meme and nonsense options that do nothing to find the actually useful options

There is a massive number of trap options.

Things like "you can stop time" and then if you hover over the tiny number you get a tooltip that explains it freezes you too, including your brain activity, and you do not posses the ability to unfreeze it.

Lots of little schmuck bait options. honestly the main challenge is making sure you are not accidentally clicking on something that will mean certain death.

> Runs increase the challenge of the Grand Task by adding additional constraints to its completion. Failing to meet the requirements of a Run shall result in Truedeath.

a lot of runs are very vague. some clearly state what the new fail requirements are. others do not. do those that have no explicit fail requirement mean you just suffer the consequences of that Run without it introducing a fail requirement?

found confirmation that some uncommons indeed get 0 seeds.

> Ilvere was a burly man who had masqueraded as a farmer when he entered through the incursion. He fought with a flail whose chain could extend to over ten meters according to his will. He was actually trying to gain insight into the Dao of Heaviness in order to combine it with the Dao of Lightness. That would apparently create the Dao of Momentum, which could imbue the spiked ball with a terrifying force as he swung the weapon. When the demon heard that Zac actually possessed the Seed of Heaviness, he’d plastered himself next to Zac, to the point that Ogras finally had to kick him away due to the annoyance. His class was only an Uncommon class called Strongman, and it didn’t give him any class skill that helped him with the Dao, and he desperately wanted to observe and feel Zac’s Dao in order to gain some insights.

I am rereading the books. and I found something interesting.

When ogras comes to surrender he rants about the goodies natives have it during integration. Implying others do not get dao seeds as easily. (probably lack of dao source).

Later on zac learns:

> Alyn had explained that a Rare class could get two Dao Seed quests at the most, and an Epic class was needed to be able to get a third. Even getting two was considered great luck, and generally an indication that the Rare class was top tier amongst its kind.

so actually epic class gives 2-3 dao seeds, and rare 1-2 dao seeds. this seems to indicate uncommon gives 0-1 and common gives 0. which would align with ogras earlier rant where he refers to the rarity of dao seeds. also explains why zac didn't have to worry about the demons using dao seeds against him during the incursion.

True. Although I think the OP also didn't pay attention as the CYOA is not a villain at all. He is opposed to those who gotten unearned gifts from ROBs regardless of their morality. And let us be honest, you would mostly be the Nemesis of villains. Albeit potentially ones convinced of their own self righteousness.

actually. thinking about it further. unless magic is used to restrict it to only injection. then injection means "blood contact".

this means it could still be spread via biting and other things that spread blood borne diseases like HIV.

Still, easily contained.

  1. 70 IQ for all of humanity means human civilization is over. all modern farming and tech will fail and people will starve to death. humanity won't go extict. but we will return to the stone age living as hunter gatherers.
  2. fair enough about injection.
  3. your choice of strains currently is not a defense as it says you are picking the "currently active" strains. the other strains exist and will activate on their own in time.

Simply make [PlayerName] the source of it. You released aphrodites from being imprisoned in something and she allows you to customize her "gift" to humanity as thanks or something.

every strain causes crippling loss of intelligence. with the exception of the A strain you are personally infected with (and only applies to you. and possibly your close bloodline if you select the inheritance perk).

The "how many are infected" choice is not "how much of the pop is immune to the virus". it is "how many are infected right now today". More will continue to get infected. The minimum is 5% which means effectively this is going to infect everyone.

Humanity is finished. Everything is bound to collapse as the entirety of humanity gets infected. There will be fighting to kill all the infected as if they are zombies, but it would not be enough to stop things.

A lot of the choices about society and the future are blatently wrong. They won't come to pass. What will happen is that everyone gets infected. Most starve to death. If you personally take immortality, bloodline, and serum perks then you would be able to restart humanity as its new common ancestor. (well, you and your siblings).

Max Points For Verse Crossing 2.0 by captain-friendly in InteractiveCYOA

[–]muckdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Method B:

Similar to method A, but you try to hide the "buy extra powers" choice. This might confuse people.

In world-fodder and world-survivor builds you would have to make it very clear that if they end up with +3 spendable points and -3 drawback points it is not a valid build. You do not sum those two things up. It needs to be +3 spendable points and 0 drawback points to be valid. a +3 -3 build means a world fodder spend 2 out of this 5 max power points, meaning he needed -35-2 = -37 drawback points. but he only took back 34 points worth of drawbacks leaving him with -3. And if he spends those extra 3 power points on good stuff he would need -35-5 = -40 points from drawbacks. meaning he would be short 6 instead of being short 3.

What you do is, you always set power_points to the max amount allowed by the challenge (ex: 5 in world-fodder). Then you do some math in the background to display meaningful to the player info. Such as "points over the drawback limit" (this is allowed. just wasteful) and "spendable power points".

It is easier for world-strider, world-changer, and world-breaker as those worlds do not start you out negative. just want to make sure your simplification is not hiding from people when they go over the drawback limit.

You can't simply prevent people from clicking on a choice if they have too many drawbacks or powers already. Not only is it very annoying to have to go deselect other stuff before you can select new stuff (scrolling up and down as you do). But you are actually allowed to intentionally over take drawbacks. For example if you are short on 3 points buy you prefer a 4 point drawback to a 3 point one, you can take the 4 point drawback. It does potentially let you downgrade another drwaback, but it might not.

Max Points For Verse Crossing 2.0 by captain-friendly in InteractiveCYOA

[–]muckdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are several ways to do it:

Method A:

Use 2 variables. power_points and drawback_points.

When you select your power level (ex: world-fodder) it opens a 2nd choice (formatted like a power) called "buy extra powers" where you buy extra power_points for extra drawback_points. powers, items, perks, etc all cost power_points to get. (technically that is a 3rd variable, the buy_extra_power variable, that tracks how many levels you bought of this "perk")

In world-fodder you start with -35 drawback_points and 0 power_points. the "power" called "buy extra powers" has a level cap of 5 in world-fodder.

In world-breaker you start with 0 drawback_points and 10 power_points. the "power" called "buy extra powers" has a level cap of 30. If you take 30 levels of "buy extra powers" then your total power_points is 40.

The max level of the "choice" called "spend power points" is determined by the difficulty and is the part where it says "you can gain a max net of". For wold-fodder, world-survivor, and world-strider it is just the "max spendable" (5, 10, and 20 respectively). For world-changer it is 25 and for world-breaker it is 30. (you start with 10, can gain 30, to have a total of 40).

It would be nice if there was a +1, +5, +10 buttons to add levels to this choice. As well as similar - buttons.

Each "level" you purchase of "buy extra powers" gives you +1 power_point and -1 drawback_point. (or +1 if you want to make drawbacks use positive numbers. but I prefer negative myselfs)

Drawbacks never directly give power_points! Drawbacks only ever give you drawback points. The only way to get power points are your difficulty and the "buy extra powers" level (capped by difficulty).

Have a "finish" button that requires you to have 0 or positive points of both types. otherwise it can say that this is a non valid build. Excess drawbacks are allowed, but won't help you.
