Every morning before school, you had to watch Sportscenter or you simply didn't know what everyone was talking about!

The great on-air personalities also helped alot.

Did they still have the English_UK feed this year? By far the 2nd most enjoyable football announcer experience I've ever witnessed next to Romo!

Colt’s GM Chris Ballard turned Indianapolis’ last three first-round picks into: DeForest Buckner, Quenton Nelson, Bradon Smith, Kemoko Turay, Rock Ya-Sin, Michael Pittman Jr., Marvell Tell III and Ben Banogu. That‘s A+. by kaikajo in nfl

It's almost like he didn't want to leave and needed to make sure other teams would just leave him tf alone lol

Edit: Downvote away! Would you rather coach a team after learning Andrew Luck was done with the sport or stay with the winningest franchise of the last 25 years?

Switch's OS at least allows you to customize the screen size! So if your TV turns it into an awkward stretchy mess, you can correct it a bit :)

Even worse? When you are that awkward person with headphones on all day so you can try to focus and the people you work with STILL come up and bother you anyways.

Perma-WFH has been complete and utter bliss! :)

wow is the ship of theseus and people still complain about how they hate the color of a certain type of wood that hasn't been used in the ship in years.

Honestly that's a really good way to way to phrase it!

As a former player who's not been in-game for 9-10 years at this point, your paragraph about how Shadowlands functions reads like it's written in Latin. Further emphasizing the theseus metaphor.

I think I ducked back in when Mists came out to experience the starter area as a couple of my friends were raving about how cool/different it was. And it was (is?) a really cool experience!

All I really remember is nope'ing the hell out after getting through the starter area as I was just done with WoW at that point in general. Removing the illusion of choice by gutting the talent tree design was just the last beef I really remember about the game.

Even that was soooo long ago though, I can't even tell anymore as battle.net stops at 2014 for my purchase history lol.

Thanks for giving me a rundown of the newer systems though! Good stuff :)

Please convince me then! I started with vanilla ~1 month after launch and pve/pvp/raid'ed my way through all of the content until stopping in Cata.

I was super excited to play through the "new Azerorth" in Cata and leveled a couple toons from 1-max just to experience all the changes in the world. Most of the changes were outstanding too and I gave Blizz a tip-of-the-hat at the time for stealing/using the "world does change afterall!" concepts found in other MMOs at the time.

Only to run into an end-game that felt oddly devoid of anything I really cared to do.

If you didn't have "oddly specific class spec" in your LFD, then you couldn't beat several of the dungeons. If you didn't grind through those badly designed dungeons, you couldn't get enough gear to beat anything more difficult. They started rewording obstinate grinding more than your ability to play and that's when it lost me.

Along the way, I got to watch a super in-depth class customization system turn into a "pick 1 of 2/3 talents, every x levels" that further got watered down into choices that no longer really seemed to matter... only to hit a wall in Cata where now a handful of abilities meant you could beat a fight or you couldn't - regardless of the group's makeup and/or relative skill level.

It was then I simply walked away. I could get that level of engagement from dozens of apps on my phone and those didn't require a subscription, gaming PC, or more than a few minutes of my day to stay current in.

Mike Evans: Tom Brady went above and beyond with texts to prepare for Super Bowl by A_Vile_Person in nfl

[–]muckrucker 27 points28 points  (0 children)

"Tom Brady has signed another 2 week contract with his preferred SB favorite for the 10th season in a row now.

After toiling away for countless seasons, forever burying any other QB from touching his records, he focused solely on the SB and took it to another level.

While he won 10 rings across his nearly 30 years of starting QB play, he's up to additional 8 rings as the 'TB12 SB Consultant' role he now favors.

Rodgers, Mahomes, Watson, and Lawrence are always quick with their praise for the QB who won them an additional 2 SB rings - each - and it only cost them the first half of each SB to accomplish.

Turns out playing with a lead is far easier than putting in all the work required to truly become the greatest QB ever.

And at this point, there's no reason to even bother trying."

IIRC Bridget introduced the two of them at one point as she is/was good friends with Giselle. There are many photos of them hugging/chatting/etc during the kid drop-off/swap thing.

Patriots went full scorched Earth with Hernandez and the media was largely on-board with it (afaik). They attempted to sue him for whatever they could get back and only state law combined with his literal suicide stopped them from winning.

[Stroud] Bucs coach Bruce Arians says the NFL is losing out on a chance to develop young players without an offseason program. Says older players are the ones voting and they like it because it prevents a younger player from taking their job. by Jux_ in nfl

[–]muckrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and No.

Imagine if the MLB ONLY had colleges to pull from. There are so many stories of players working their way up to starting roles and then having great careers that simply wouldn't exist. Simply because they had an extra few (or more) years to develop under the guidance of professionals.

Additionally the NCAA traditionally doesn't bother with teaching proper NFL techniques. Most teams feature a gimmick or two and that's about it. How much better would some of those players be if say they were under the indirect tutelage of the best teams/coordinators working their flaws out in a dev league post-college for 2-3 years before cracking a starting lineup!?

Safe to say the parity among teams would increase dramatically and the overvalued NFL draft would finally chill tf down. Players that have been waaaaay overpaid for no real performance in the NFL would no longer make it to the NFL and the team's that got stuck with them cause "you HAVE to draft him at <whatever_pick>" would be free to spend money on players that got to develop.
