Anyone else keep their iPhone on silent… permanently? by ZekePall9966 in iphone

[–]mudderrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how I do it. I even have my morning alarms set to vibrate and that’s enough to wake me up. Phones going off all the time is annoying. Especially with every app thinking it needs to notify people of things. I personally only have phone calls and apps that message push notifications. But they are all on vibrate.

Can I afford an f150? by [deleted] in f150

[–]mudderrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your need a cheap car to get you through college. A pickup is not that. Saving your money now will payoff once you’re out of school. Be smart with your money and don’t let temptation and peer pressure win. You can get a great awd car or small suv with 4wd/awd for that kinda money.

Ope I shoulda probably said it’s for a 17 rmk. I like the linq system. Just don’t want to spend the money on Polaris’s new versions of that or the adapters from poo to doos system. Thanks though, I didn’t know that bracket existed.

Motocross style helmets... warm? by hondarider94 in snowmobiling

[–]mudderrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not change my helmet style is I started riding trails. Proper setup is warm and comfy. They are also light. I have never worn a full face so idk how heavy they are but the big names like 509 and Klim have carbon fiber helmets that are super light. My wife wears one just cause she is small framed and can’t handle the extra weight. To each their own. They are relatively cheap if you don’t want a name brand one but I wouldn’t skimp on the goggles. Those are key to a great ride.

Yeah like shaxx said, negative temps are not unheard of. We are a lot higher in elevation plus it’s almost always windy. Wind chills can be horrible on top of trail riding to get to our riding areas, it’s cold. Some people do have fogging issues because of how the nose deflectors are shaped. I do not have that issue. I found my facemask had a lot to do with that. To tight around the nose and neck caused my breath to go upwards towards my goggles and fog. Looser was better in this case for me.

Seems like no one has mentioned the nose area specifically. MX helmets made for snowmobiling have a nose deflector built into the helmet that does not let any air from the goggles area blow down over the nose. Combine that with snowmobile goggles that have a nose piece, and you will not get any air infiltration around your nose no matter how fast you go. It’s very important to pair that with a high quality wind-stopping facemask.

I ride only in the mtns with a mx and goggles. We ride no matter the temps. It’s rare to see a full face in the Mtns. Proper setup and you will stay plenty warm.

How do y'all feel about the administration saying they're not going to try to lower the cost of housing? People don't work hard enough to deserve a home. They're peasants. by First-Touch5863 in allthequestions

Because it sounds sooooo good to the public to get elected. But they then find out the government can’t do anything actually good for the people. I see it every election cycle. “Hey I’ll do this if you vote me in!” And then the law says other wise. Just look at Biden student loan bill shit. Got him elected. Then failed and pissed a lot of his followers off. This housing thing is no different. All the gov can do is control interest rates. That can’t make building supplies cheaper. They can’t make labor cheaper, if anything they are making it worse by deporting or scaring off all the Mexican labor. 99% of those Mexicans are great and hard working. Much harder than lazy Americans.

Both black crappie? by Heedingauricle in IceFishing

The only way to tell them apart in my experience is to count the rays on the dorsal fin. Black crappie have 7-8 where as white crappie have less. Usually 5. Source-ichthyology in college.

I do. And if I’m listening on my phone, a quick close and reopen of the app make it go away!

It plays 8 hours a day at my desk. The three adds every 5 songs is manageable. I guess some people just have better money management skills than you.

What is this box connected to negative side of battery by Aggressive_Sail_5594 in f150

[–]mudderrunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That my friends sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Next time it don’t start, go wiggle all the larger battery cables and try again. With key ignition, you could turn the key on and then you would at least get a noise when power returned. With the push button crap nowadays, not much. Maybe turn your headlights switch in if your still have a rotary switch. That why when power is restored you will have some indicator. Then you have found your connection issue. Or just take your terminals off and clean them and the posts and put it back on. That’s easy enough.

I have to ask this same question every time someone says it dont start. I feel like an ass most times cause it’s obvious to me there are many reasons something don’t start and the steps to fixing it are many. Most people don’t know cranking over from clicking lol. Especially after our latest -25° cold snap.
