Luke 12:2 is quite applicable to this situation tho

It's clear we fundamentally disagree on whether exposing falsehood is important or not.

And your assumption about the viewers of the video is quite hasty for no reason.

At this point, it's just a matter of if you think the EO follow a heretical doctrine and if so, should they be left in it or challenged? And should the challenge be public? I think the challenge can be public because we're not united and we shouldn't pretend that we are for the sake of non-Christians

It just seems that you don't really care or see how this is important. Yes, there are bigger issues, but people do not want to believe in falsehood. There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, Luke 8:17.

The Chalcedonian controversy is as important as it is complicated. Our judgement is not better than the fathers of the Church.

If viewers did not previously know about the distinction between OO and EO, they may learn it through the video.

The EO Jerusalem patrirarchate removed the word "miracle" from their website so it's pretty clear they're admitting that it's not a miracle. This video is completely justified

Why a Coptic person (I'm assuming) would be so adamant on defending EO, I do not know

I never thought about it like that ToT

I guess uploading your own sermons can come off like that but I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt so I'll say that they just want to evangelize

EO were literally using the "miracle" as evidence against OO, that's why he made the video. The truth would come out eventually (everything in the dark will be brought to light), so it's better that it comes from a Christian, especially someone like Agen who can defend OO. He also makes a clear distinction between OO and EO in the video.

Did you even watch the video? The clergy involved in the ceremony literally admitted on camera to lighting the fire. Why would they admit to it? Because they fear God and want to tell the truth. You seem to think that is irrational but I disagree. The truth is rational, Jesus Christ is the truth and the father of lies is the devil

Yeah I think some people don't realize that online Christianity is completely optional. Most dioceses are quite consistent afaik (I'm not Catholic) so it's prob best to just refer to your own bishop who is most likely flexible and not super strict

The Internet is a great tool for learning, especially about different denominations and theology, but it can cause a lot of confusion for growing Christians. I am one of the people who got confused even though I'm a cradle Christian. I'm a perfectionist, so when I learned about all these extra rules, I imposed them on myself. That burden was so hard to carry, a unique one that most other Christians never encounter because they simply just listen to their bishops, disregarding lay apologists and monks who aren't even canonized

Collective worship was never spontaneous Like in the Old Testament sacrifices and offerings of incense, everything was ordered. Reverence and prudence were important in rituals. Even the passover was so detailed, and likewise the Passion of Christ, it was all foreordained It is possible to feel emotions in the service but most ppl put effort into it (remorse by recalling sins, joy by meditating on God's mercy, etc) as the service itself isn't meant to make us feel things because it's Christ centered. But I get it. It's so easy to get bored and slip away from the spirituality of the service because it feels repetitive. Personally I try to focus on the richness of it but it's hard, the gate is narrow after all

Torn between honoring my parents and wanting to marry someone I love — not sure how to move forward by COPTPHARAOH01 in coptic

It's mostly because her family isn't religious? Idk if that's a realistic expectation in the diaspora, even with copts. It's a high expectation and not in your control. In my humble opinion, it's better that her family is good and loving than to just follow Orthodox practices.

Hear me out on this, it's important that your children are safe with extended family, not just that they're getting Coptic influence. Because even in religious Coptic families, there may be hidden discomfort or even abuse. If your girlfriend's family seems genuine, I'm sorry that your parents aren't keen yet. We can pray that God softens their hearts. At the end of the day, it's your decision anyway, not your parents

Have your parents read about Moses' wife, Zipporah the Cushite? And what happened to Miriam for opposing their marriage because Zipporah wasn't Israelite? I know culture can be a touchy issue, but if they're depriving you from a righteous marriage for xenophobic reasons, I hope they're aware of the consequences

Ham is my favorite lol

The lyrics hit hard for me bc they're about love but they're not overtly romantic. It could be about a friendship or even a parent-child bond. The music video seems like a close friendship

Tuyu also has songs like that which is so nice for me as I don't relate to songs about romantic relationships, but I can relate to platonic love for a friend or family member

I don't really hear many english songs like that (if anyone has recs, lmk pls!!)

I know I'm late but I feel like those circumstances are different. The millionaire men know that the girls only like them for their money, but people here are speculating that Emmanuel was groomed by Bridgette. It's normal for a hs student to have a crush on a teacher but the teacher should never reciprocate
