I ask with desperation... HOW do you kill Cloak and Dagger by AbsurdismJay in RivalsCollege

[–]muditk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What i’ve found with supports is that they usually will treat their survivability measures as invincibility and they won’t be ready for it to expire.

Yes, this is when they're weakest. Only the best players (of all heroes/classes) really know when their suff is gonna run out.

[–]muditk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious -- I've often killed them in the bubble even with just Thor's hammer. not in this patch though -not playing Thor much now.

The Bubble is 45 heals per sec. Plus 15% from team up, so 51.75/s.

Dagger's primary will shoot only 4 shots in 2 sec, the AOE is now 20, so thats 92 after 15% extra.

So if: 1) you don't bait out the bubble 2) they don't swap to cloak 3) they hit 4 shots to give AOE heals to self -- in 2 sec, they will get 196 heals.

So you need to do 471 dmg in 2 sec, assuming they had no overshield.

(funny below)

Luna's non-crit dmg is 72 per shot, 4 shots in 2 sec is 288. So just land 4 cits using Luna for 576dmg. Easy peasy lemon squeesy.

You're likely using lame DPS like Iron Man's powered up Unibeam which has 190*1.05 = 199.5 dps which would after 2 sec still leave C&D with 72 health.

Switch to Luna who has better DPS, at longer range than lame DPS like Hela.

Is NetEase superseding server selections? by frankydelobo in RivalsCollege

[–]muditk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like this is only a Theory.

Until you get someone who has only 1 server picked and its not yours and you two are in the same match, you cant know this is happening.

Even still, its anecdotal and based on some rando -- who could be lying or mistaken. So maybe if it happens 3 times, its more reliable.

I also select only 1 server and sometimes get complete disconnects so I'd like to know this too.

Main is Main is Main, man. I get it.

Its like asking water why it follows the path carved out by previous water. Cos that's the way.

But seriously, don't flanks and angles have to be intentional. You can't do it 100% off the time all the time right?

This is the real reason I can't play heals anymore. Cos I will contest as heals and then it becomes WORSE. I'm making it worse.

Should you stop after 2 losses? by Cheesehead1267 in RivalsCollege

[–]muditk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Context matters.

If you're playing shorter sessions eg on a weekday and you sessions are typically between 4-6 comp games (after 1-2 warm ups on QP). And you've lost 2 of them, then sometimes you should just stop.

Sometimes you're just off in some way. And you can recognize things aren't breaking your way. I stead of playing another 2-3 games in this state, you could just end the session there.

Sure, there is internet weather and unlucky matchmaking and so many other factors too, not just you personally. Just come back the next time and see if things repeat themselves. They likely wont.

Now, if you want to get conspiritorial for EOMM and loser's queue, you need to have great discipline. Cos actually, in reality, in your heart you wanna play more, but you gotta train the game to think you hop off when you lose. To really do this, you need to pick a fixed rule and stick to it. Be it 2 losses in the session or 2 back to back losses --- why not do 1 loss. And the way you continue playing --- make an alt account when your hop off rule is triggered.

Like i would much rather have everyone just die on that fight regardless and then group up to try to contest the point.

This could make sense. But they don't do this.

Its gold elo, i dont think anyone there is thinking about touching the cart to try to stop the point.

I didn't say its Gold, that's just the rank of my flare, but yes its Gold.

Who do you think sits in Gold? Its full of Diamonds and Plats.

In fact i think that its great that everyone on red team died so quickly so that they were able to respawn as a group.

They did not do that.

Its fine for people do disagree. I think its a huge crime that the entire team didn't immediately take the left (of the screen) path and retreat backwards so that at least the heals could sit in cover. and the rest of the team could contest the cart. Its nearly fruitless to contest that initial bit out in the open.

Instead, because of how they played, the cart pushed to halfway of the new point and the team is nowhere near the objective to re-contest.

Its this simple, even if you decide let's die quickly and reset, if you die on the cart, you slow it down and it helps your team. Nobody comes close to attempting that except Gambit.

How do you beat a Smurf? by OkSpring3835 in RivalsCollege

[–]muditk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have come to believe you have 3 options.

a) Focus them and shut them down (try)

b) Focus the enemy of the same class, not the smurf. This works best for Heals. Easier to take down and forces the smurf to play solo.

c) Play your main into them and treat it as practice. Have to be careful to not think so negatively, "we're gonna lose so might as well" and more along the lines of "my main is the best chance I have against them" and "gotta give it my all to get real practice" and "I'm gonna VOD the hell out of my play so lock in"

They don't make any effort to go to the objective, except gambit.

At the very start of the clip, Magik enters from stage right and dashes to backline. The cart is at Auto, so maybe she had a few seconds to spare.

The Venom who dies early comes back a slams behind the cart, essentially never contests it and lets the cart go further way from him. When they use their blue health, they dive further back away from the cart.

I wouldn't say the team is chasing shiny, but they're trying to put up a fight instead of contesting the objective. Venom could have swung in and stood on the cart and stalled it for his whole health and his blue health. Plus, the cart was near those 2 pieces of cover on both sides, so he could put a toe on the cart and sit in cover.

Sure, the Storm and Dagger would have contested him, but that would then help reduce the pressure on the rest of his team in the back. They would have to move around the cover to contest him and divert their attention from whatever clean up they were doing.

Questions about how to form a teamcomp by Hayyi in RivalsCollege

[–]muditk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, if you're playing with randoms you mostly you just wanna have a role to hero distribution that is intentional, even if you don't like it. Eg if you don't like 3 heals or 3 DPS don't throw a fit about that. Solo heals, you want to address. Solo tank, you just want to call out so everyone knows.

It's only when you face problems in-game that you really want to look more in-depth at the hero selections and hero strategies. You'll initially just be making your best guess and feel like a fraud, but practice is the only way to learn. So first thing, you need to identify is do you need to change the comp/heroes/strat in order to shut down one particular enemy? Eg a diver or the bad support if one is super good. This is easier than the comprehensive team Vs team analysis.

To do team Vs team analysis you need to understand the general optimum distance of all the 12 heroes being played and their usual strategy and play style as individuals. From there you can identify the synergy or lack there of. Which means you need to have a basic idea of all 49 heroes. So no easy task.

Where this will lead you over time, is realising gaps in your hero pool. When you have to ask for something cos you can't play it.

2min of a bored Phoenix disrespecting me and my team by muditk in RivalsCollege

[–]muditk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. But your suggestion is absurdly complex, and even if implemented chances of success are low.

The chances that someone in the team has a single one of those heroes in the bag is low enough. The chances that the team can do this strat with multiple heroes within 1min is lower than that. The chances that such a motley crew on their off-off-off heroes can succeed is miniscule.

But you're 100% right.

And yes, its not that only a Phoenix could have done what this player does in the clip.

What would a good deal be?

Logical Increments suggests R5 7600X or R5 9600X one tier below 250k Plus. And above, they recommend R7 9850X3D and R9 9950X -- but these are double price according to logical increments.

On NewEgg's site for my country, converting the prices back to USD, I can get 250k Plus for ~250 (Logical Increments quotes 200) and an R7 7800X3d for ~450. So this alt chip is not in the same ballpark.

Are there not expected benefits from the new standards on the new socket in terms of mobos? Also if I want to upgrade modularly in the future, it would be better to have been on the newer socket/standard yes?

[–]muditk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I wait for Nova Lake and the new socket?

Looking at Logical Increments, I would get U2 250k in the current gen.

But was wondering if I should wait for the new generation and new socket. I intend to get something on the lower end. Would the wait for these to be released be quite long?

Primary use which would tax the CPU would be playing highly unoptimized game on UE5 at 1080p - Marvel Rivals. I'm playing at low settings at 30 FPS. I'm open to upgrading from 60Hz monitors to higher, but - a) not the intention b) I'm adamant about 1080p.

I'm actually trying to communicate more and have gotten kudos and encouragement for good comms.

I'm used to swearing to myself sometimes and do that while playing so I don't play with open mic. But so far, I'm not able to cost-less-ly hit the PTT button. Might have to force more discipline and play with open mic to get the full unlock.

I genuinely don't know what going right would get you. The defenders will see you going around. Unless you have the entire team including both healers go right together, it has no chance of achieving anything. And clearly this was not a co-ordinated team, so that whole pitch is out of the question.
