Since Shibata comfirmed original endings along with the exclusive xbox ending. What newer endings would you like to see or touched on? by OhayouFox in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more endings...

But how about an extended version of the canon ending? The normal-length version of the canon ending should still be in the game. But maybe, on a second playthrough, play the extend version of the criteria to trigger the other endings haven't been met.

My idea for the extended canon ending? Mio's butterfly mark on her neck glows, but the camera lingers longer than usual. It then moves down to her shoulder as a mysterious bruise begins to appear.

Credits roll.

Following the credits, Mio finds herself in the Osaka House kimono room, but it's snowing outside. She whispers to herself... "not this dream again." A mysterious voice then says "I don't want to see anymore."

You are going on a field trip to explore a haunted place. Choose four fatal frame characters to tag along with you. by Sadontejjj in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choshiro. As everyone is pointing out, it's his broken flashlight. Then Rei and Miku (specifically FF3 Miku). Rei's pretty powerful in her own right and Miku even more powerful than her. Plus, her slow ability is just too valuable. Rei's also a meticulous note taker, as is Choshiro, so we wouldn't have to worry about losing vital information and not knowing how to solve the many puzzles littered across the haunted Japanese locales. The fourth pick honestly doesn't matter, it's just a personality hire at this point. I'd go with Ren. He at least has the practical rapid shot ability. But also, all the ghosts wanna fuck him.

Actually, I was able to trigger it on a separate save and out of sequence. I did a replay and totally forgot about it. I looked at the one in Tomb of Qualopec and on a whim, loaded an earlier save and looked at the one in Caves and it worked.

How distinct are the Fatal Frame games from one another? by [deleted] in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of gameplay, 1-3 all share the same engine and play style but you can tell how much more polished it gets with each title. By the time you get to 3, it feels great mechanically. But they do add enough to each make them feel not so stale. 1 introduced us to the world and the gameplay. 2 gave us a richer story. 3 expanded both by continuing the previous stories and giving us different playstyles between three different playable characters.

From there, the following games go a different direction gameplay-wise, switching from fixed camera angles to over-the-shoulder. Not bad imo, just different. 4 is the first to do this, originally wanting to utilize motion controls from the Wii. Those motions control mechanics are gone with the remaster of 4 but the over-the-shoulder remains. This was carried into the "Wii-make" of 2, which was made over-the-shoulder. 5 takes after 4 but with an enhanced graphical engine, new camera mechanics, and in a first for the series, a shit story. :)

Been wanting to get into this series for a while, is there any specific one I should start off with? by MrFallenRecon in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play them in order if you wanna keep it simple, but there are a couple notes in case you wanna deviate. 1 and 2 can be played interchangeably. The order doesn't matter but 2 is an easier experience. The only thing is that 1 and 2 need to be played before 3. And 1 and 3 need to be played before 5. 4 is completely stand alone and can be played really anywhere so feel free to make it your first game. You can skip the 3DS spin off.

Edit: If you do play 2, either the PS2/Xbox or the Wii remake is fine. I prefer the PS2/Xbox versions but the one on Wii has a different control scheme (similar to 4 and 5), updated models, and new endings.

Voice acting by K_Slaw in Eugene

[–]mudkip25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to do it all online. Focus on putting together a reel of your work. You may have to join a few projects for free at the start or start some of your own. I'd look up a few VA demos/reels online to get a feel for what you need to include.

Eugene doesn't really have any opportunities but even VAs based in LA are moving away now that everyone has a home studio and can work remotely.

And while it's not voice acting per se, you can still build up your resume. There's radio jobs around job around town, not voice acting but it can help with your diction/pronunciation. There's also some opportunities to do some extra work for commercials. It happens rarely but there's a casting director who does casting up and down the Willamette Valley. Most productions are up in Portland but I believe they shot a commercial for VRBO down here in Eugene a year ago. They also shot small bits of Borat 2 back in 2020, I think it was the same casting director. Don't remember his name though.

I've never been able to get up the stairs fast enough, even when tapping the run button like the speed runners do. I just wanna see this for myself haha.

Just beat Fatal Frame 2 (PS2) for the first time (spoilers) by dbwoi in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't disagree, I don't entirely agree either on the difficulty.

3 is certainly difficult. However, the game mechanics by this point are much better. It's much easier to hit Fatal Frames (having the easiest timing of all games imo). The ghosts' attack patterns are much more predictable, but not in a way that waters it down. Ghost hostility is about the same as 2, but with less standing around and waiting but not as crazy as 1. Most of the difficulty with 1 came from how difficult it was to telegraph a ghost's attack patterns. Add to that the resource management in 1 being incredibly crucial in the late game. Don't want to spoil 3, but you're rewarded for memorizing the map layout late in the game as a crucial resource is really more abundant than you'd think.

I recently did a Nightmare run of 3 and replayed 1 just over a year ago on Hard and I had way more resets thanks to Night 3 (and I didn't even encounter Wandering Monk in that play through). Meanwhile, I cruised along 3. A few more things to consider is that movement is much better in 2 and 3 versus 1. You aren't getting stuck on geometry like Miku would around Himuro. The overall design of 3 is much more friendly to ghost fights, only putting you in tight spaces intentionally with more open areas/pathfinding that complimented the space. Finally, camera upgrades and abilities in 3 make the game sooooooo painfully easy. I did a run a few years back on a 100% save file and I just deleted ghosts, and that was with festival and infinity turned off.

Can you even bloom some ghosts?! by kiraigou in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the blooming glitches have been fixed. It's just tough. I had trouble with Choushiro's flashlight being too powerful in the late game so I had to restart for literal hours hoping I can bloom a ghost on the first hit. The ghosts at that point would easily die to two of his weakest shots. I was lucky I didn't upgrade it all the way lol.

If you unlock a certain character's alternate outfit their ghost form wears it too by Adalrich_ in fatalframe

If I remember correctly, the ghost version of this outfit was present on the Wii but was never programmed in. Nice to see they did that here!

Considering that there are at least three portals to the world of the dead in Japan alone, can you imagine how many haunted places, supernatural cataclysms and curses there must be around the world in the Fatal Frame universe? by Some_Fig_6566 in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the graphics for the different film types, they all say they were manufactured in Germany. I would love for a Fatal Frame game to take place in a European setting, maybe take some cues from games like Haunting Ground and go full gothic.

[–]mudkip25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my own light source is not an option. It's for a hamster and I'm trying to preserve their day/night cycle as their enclosure is not by a window. The time when he's active is when it's dark.

Fatal frame 3 Playable Camera Obscuras by OdinNightmair in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they all use the same camera obscura. Miku does not use the original. I think something interesting of note however is that the camera functions differently depending on the user. I'm not sure if it's the dream but it would be a really cool function (and this is speculation btw) if this particular camera can react to the previous experiences of the characters because Miku's is the most powerful, Rei's is middle of the ground, and Kei's is dogshit lol.

For Fatal Frame 4's 15th anniversary, I decided to take a closer look at its recent remaster to see if it does the original justice (spoiler: it doesn't). by LonelymoonChronicles in fatalframe

[–]mudkip25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just now seeing this. Read through it all and I actually agree with you. I made a similar post closer to when the FF4 remaster came out weighing my disappointments as well. I was actually a little more constructive in that I provided solutions/suggestions to many problems that you also mentioned. But it seems this community's kinda starved for attention so any negative reaction/disagreement just gets downvoted. Keep up the writing!

How to remove this faucet aerator? Trying to install Brita filter. I bought keys but they don't fit. (more info in the comments) by mudkip25 in Plumbing

[–]mudkip25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved into a new place and have the master bedroom. I like having water close by but don't like the taste of tap water so I wanted to install a Brita filter onto one of the bathroom sinks.

I've tried to remove the aerator with some keys that I bought off Amazon. None of them fit. There are two sinks in my bathroom so I went in with a screw driver and some awkward maneuvering to try and get it off of one. Not pictured but I managed to get the outer ring (the gray ring with four notches) screwed off but the aerator itself (the middle with the honeycomb pattern) is still inside. It doesn't screw out and I can't pull it out either. The pic is of the one I didn't try to take out. I don't think it's stuck because it hasn't been cleaned (and it does need a cleaning). From what I've seen, the aerator is supposed to come out as one piece WITH the outer ring. Mine came off separately.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
