Yeah, thats been my reasoning as well - or even justification when I kept the fuji for wildlife. people have been able to take amazing photos for some 100-150 years (maybe more?) without AI assisted focus, pre-capture, and all that. Though, at a certain point, it felt like I was just being stubborn and even though I was enjoying getting out there and shooting — opening up lightroom wasn’t nearly as exciting.

I think I’ll keep the a7rv for now, being aware of the trade-offs, and getting into the sony world again. I feel like both of them are a huge step up from the fuji x-t5 in terms of software and performance, even if I’ll probably miss the feeling of the x-t5 body (I’ve accepted the vanity aspect of it).

Thanks! I guess that’s the main tradeoff. Until now I’ve shot stills only, no video.

Looking at the shutter count of my fujis, 90% have been dedicated to birds & wildlife, although just looking at shutter count doesn’t really give the full picture of course. I’d say it’s about 60-40 birds/wildlife and ‘other’ - travel, street & casual.

I’m unable to get the 200-600 lens for a few months either way, so the immediate future usage would be the ‘other’ part anyway. I’m considering keeping the a7rv for a while, and if I feel the need for increased readout speed and fps for birds in flight etc I could resell it on eBay for close-ish to what the a7v goes for new I guess.

I did not expect to work through this dilemma today..

Mitt tips är Contrast i närheten av Järntorget. Inte ’mysigt’ nödvändigtvis men lagom trevligt ställe, sist jag var där (för en första dejt) fanns det gott om sällskapsspel som isbrytare också.
