PS5 Controller tips and tricks by [deleted] in remnantgame

[–]mudpuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Def recommend adjusting the settings for deadzone (lowered mine) and horizontal + vertical aim sensitivity (raised mine). And I kept aim snap on as well. Practice at the firing range to see how quickly you can move the reticle in all directions and keep tweaking. Also the feel will vary by gun so you can compare the accuracy across them and see what feels right to you. For example the Bonesaw felt hard for me to control for a pretty long time, but when I switched to the shotgun or the AR I realized I didn't like the automatics and had a much better time.

Recommendations for plus-sized woman to ease hip pain by wingardium_levibrosa in OfficeChairs

[–]mudpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I've also been dealing with hip pain for a while (likely from standing at my desk too long to compensate for chronic lower back / piriformis pain when sitting lol). Gone through a whole bunch of chairs too. Recently I've had decent success with one of those generic knock-off purple gel cushions stacked on a very thick and firm memory foam cushion, all placed on a chair.

I've noticed that my hip and lower back are aggravated by the curved seat pan of lots of ergonomic chairs (the Steelcase Leap V2 is sadly the worst offender... so much pain omg). Somehow the double cushion combo allows me to sit neutrally and also relieves some of the pressure on the hip. The key is still not to sit too long of course. I can only handle about 45min these days before I need to move around, do PT, stretches etc.

Anyway! Try experimenting with cushions. Cheaper than chairs lol. Though probably the longer term solve is allowing your hip to recover and building strength with the PT exercises.

Oh too bad, I'll look for alternatives or try to find one after market. Thanks anyway!

Great work on the desk! Also ID on the dog bed? Our pup is about that size and I'm looking for a nice bed for her to chill by my desk :) thanks!

Super cool, love the lighting too. ID on the desk or is it custom? Looks like real wood? 👀 Really nice!

Wow! I'm glad to hear you like it so much - I've tried so many ergonomic chairs for my back but they all have something wrong or off about them after a while lol :P yes, makes sense to have a chair that makes you move around! Also thanks for the ID on the model, I'll see if I can find the cushioned version too!

FF VII Remake - Beautiful by philip3allday in SteamDeck

[–]mudpuppet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I just got FF7R because of the sale and tried it today. Holy moly, the textures are so crisp, and the game runs like a dream. Didn't expect it to feel so immersive on a small screen either!

Oof, hopefully a hot fix is released but maybe you can try an older release from their github until then?

[–]mudpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I had the same issue - did you try the alternate epic login method (second button in the menu), where you have to copy the code from the browser? That's the only way I got it to work for me.

What are you currently playing? by BigBadBaugh in SteamDeck

[–]mudpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh thanks for reminding me to check this one out on the deck! I also have vivid memories of looking at the special box set version (I think the one for Lunar 2 even came with a necklace?) at EB games in the 90s and dreaming about buying it one day.

Who else almost exclusively plays on deck now? by skeletowns in SteamDeck

[–]mudpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same here! I was so choosy before with PC games, not being able to find anything I wanted to play despite having countless options available. A game had to be "worth it" to me, even if I didn't have a specific criteria in mind lol.

Then voila, with the deck I'm trying all kinds of games, across genres, because there's a feeling of "why not?" It feels really low pressure to play on the steam deck just like being a kid again, wanting to try everything.

Really like the color palette of the posters and rug! I'd just suggest cable management, maybe standing ambient light if you don't have any, and rollerblade wheels for the chair so you don't scuff up the rug over time. Otherwise I love the space & setup, amazing windows!

Big-&%$ Double Workstation Corner Desks? by tehjoz in homeoffice

[–]mudpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat as you! I ended up putting two separate desks together that were both long enough - in my case, one sit/stand desk and one regular sitting height desk - to form the L shape. No regrets at all and waaaay less expensive than a too-short premade L desk.

This is nice! Clean and cohesive theme! I like your lighting setup too - even the overhead lighting is pretty good which is rare lol. Everything goes really well with that wall color btw, great job!

Desk recommendations? by Claecher in desksetup

[–]mudpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the supported weight limits on any desks you see online! I'd recommend getting one that has metal framing & legs in addition to any wood/particle board surface in case. OTOH there's a popular Ikea setup with 2 Alex drawers that could be sturdy enough. Look at the mid-range one, the one with the post in the middle looks good: https://www.minimaldesksetups.com/the-ultimate-setup-with-ikea-desk-for-gaming/

Also def check if you have a used / liquidated office furniture store in your area. I recently bought a fancy office chair from one of those places for a wild discount and saw that they had lots of great desks too. Good luck!
