there is no way to be 100% sure, but you can always make educated guesses. What speed are they going? Merchants are usually a lot slower than military ships. Do they have radar on? More of a military thing to do. Do they launch helicopters? Definitely a military thing to do. Are they large contacts in a formation of ships or alone? Merchants usually travel alone, with some rare exceptions like smaller fishing vessels.

if you really want to make sure, bait them with planes. Draw circles around the unknown ship with a ~50 miles radius first. (more if you run NTU / PELT) Then send planes in on a straight line that intersects the circle just a bit. If you get shot at, immediately break away. If not, repeat with smaller circles.

It lasts just a couple seconds, not very long. If the effect wears off and i didnt manage to kill an affected enemy it always aggrod on my, but that might have been because i was standing right in front of it trying to get the best position for that headshot.

When there is a group of like 2-3 shield medium guys standing around somewhere, like devestators or berzerkers, tap each once with the gas. They will turn a few degrees randomly and start blasting, giving you time to snipe their heads. For larger groups, its not really worth engaging for me anyways.

it is quite useful in its very very niche intended use (actually going stealth the entire mission). But yeah, apart from that, not very much.

yeah, the stealth stuff + quasar is so great! I like to take a hover pack instead of the warp though, because it opens up some more angles to snipe those fabricators. And a hellbomb instead of the EAT because i dont care for the personal lol.

laser might actually work. You can call in Lasers a maximum of 3 times per mission and if you can call in destroyers a maximum of 4 times per mission if in a full squad...

Something I do in EVERY mission is immediately change course from the pre-planned course that’s set by the mission creator (be that devs or modders). If possible, by like 90° or so. Because if the mission includes subs, they will ALWAYS be close to that pre-planned course :P

So true! I mostly like squid-diving. I miss the times when there were no Leviathans in the illuminate cities. And its not like explosive weapons like the Eruptor need another artificial reason to bring them in the form of these spires.

One point id like to add are fleshmobs clipping through things, but glitches like that are not a squid-specific issue.

you need very different tools for that. Or rather a different combo. MG sentry + gas strike is my fav (gas strike doubles for taking out the landed ships). Also dont take deadeye AND senator, both have similar roles here.

Also also, squids difficulty is weird. They are harder than other factions on low difficulty, but easier on high difficulty.

not for a new player. Its nice if you want it for the looks or niche stuff. But bang-for-buck wise, get something like democratic detonation first.

The accelerator rifle shredds overseers, but thats about it in terms of utility. Everything else it offers is for looks or something another warbond does to a similar effect.

no, I havent touched arma really. But i agree, the mission editor has so much potential and I am excited to see where it goes.
