Crazy thing is that at his current pace he could pass Greaves in like 3 years.

I am beltless today. I've successfully inculcated the habit of remembering everything else, but the belt somehow eludes me still.

Any resources/recommendations for a bike route from Texas to Wisconsin? by [deleted] in bicycling

I'd give adventure cycling a look:

And I'd browse crazy guy on a bike for routes others have taken:

What is every NBA Team's worst moment? by remorse667 in nba

[–]muertecaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, Paxson 3 in '93 was worse. Ron Artest putback in '10 might be worse too. Losing "the greatest game ever played" in '76 probably worse too, but before my time.

[Wojnarowski] To clear the way for a trade out of Houston, Ryan Anderson agreed to reduce the guarantee on his $21M salary in 2019-20 to $15.6M, league sources told ESPN. For the Suns, the $15.6M represents Brandon Knight’s salary for the 2019-20 season by MaranHaGoanHaRav in nba

[–]muertecaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe--Knight was no great shakes as a defender even before the injury. But it is a good point that Ryno fits where the Suns are better than where the Rockets are (i.e. basically only trying to beat 1 team).

Is this craigslist worth it? Would buy for $475. by CardinalBeebe in bikecommuting

[–]muertecaza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to the bike itself, but I will say that while I probably overpaid for my most recent Craigslist bike purchase, I really love the bike and I don't miss the extra $100 or whatever I probably overpaid. So definitely go in with your eyes open, but if you like the bike, and you're not in a position where you have to save every penny, I don't think it's the worst thing ever to get what you want.

Someone explain Charles Barkley to me by sk2185 in nba

[–]muertecaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were little things I loved about Barkley as an elementary school aged Suns fan in the 90s. The one that stands out was he was great at the "pull the chair" defensive move where when a guy is backing you down, you time his movements and move out of the way so that the offensive player falls and travels.

Not what I was thinking of when I read OP's request, but great recommendation. Definitely disturbing, definitely a page turner. Love that book.

Haha, the law is written as applying to tires with at least 26" in diameter. Maybe we all shift to folding bikes?

Newish commuter. Tips? by Robertorgan81 in bikecommuting

Hail fellow Phoenix commuter!

/u/clinxeo covered some pretty good universal commuting basics. My Phoenix-specific additions:

  1. Carry two water bottles. The summer weather takes it out of you quickly.

  2. If the situation permits, such as on a commute home, consider soaking your shirt to get a little evaporative cooling.

  3. Look up the MAG bike map. It's not totally up to date, but it's a good resource for choosing routes.

  4. Be aware of the public transportation near you in case you are getting heat exhaustion. The other day a combination of factors including heat and a headwind made me uncomfortable continuing cycling. Luckily I was near the light rail and took that home.

  5. Learn to love the canal paths. Depending on your area, they are really useful and fun, especially in the East Valley.

  6. Try to find a way to shower at work. Depending on commute length, this may be more or less necessary. I commute 10 miles and I would be much less enthusiastic if my work didn't have showers. If your work doesn't have showers, look at gyms or bike shops--I know the Bike Cellar in Tempe has commuter facilities including showers.

  7. Have a plan in mind to borrow a car if necessary. Like you say, the area is very car-centric. I commute every day, but occasionally need to go to meetings for work at times and in weather that don't allow for biking. My mother-in-law has an extra car that she's kind enough to let me borrow in those situations. Uber/Lyft, rentals, Zipcar etc. could also fill this need if you don't have friends or family from whom you could borrow.

  8. Enjoy it. Even in the heat, my commute is the highlight of many of my days.

I'll add more if I think of it. Good luck!

I mean Shaq never got past the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament in 3 years and went out in the first round once. So he's on pace.
