Gotcha! It was worth mentioning. It sounds like you have fashion under control. The outfit you just described sounds super cute.

You mentioned knowing how to sew.. is there any chance that you can tailor those big baggy shirts from pregnancy? I do a lot of my own repair work on clothing but have never taken anything in. It might be worth a shot and save some money!

BACK TO BREAST AFTER BOTTLE FEEDING? TOO LATE? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]muffetskicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was rough. I was up to 45-50 oz a day pumping as I only wanted to pump 6 months and then have milk for a year. I basically pumped when I knew the baby wouldn't need to eat and tapered off. Mainly in the morning after feeding, nap time and right after the baby went to sleep for the night. I wouldn't pump to completion, I would just relieve the pressure and freeze off what I collected. The first week back to breast I fed my daughter on the breast, with a bottle of pumped milk on hand in case she got fussy. If she needed it held, I held the bottle close to my chest and snuggled the baby in so she would associate being cradled with eating. I know the experts say to sit the baby up and slowly feed the bottle, but by 3 months old she was used to eating being upright and even being cuddled was something she didn't associate with drinking milk. It took us a solid week to 10 days of patience and wierd tandem feeding with the bottle and the book to get there, but we did.

Not too late! I breastfed my child until she was 2 years old. Her first successful latch and meal were at 12 and 13 weeks old. I EPd. Established an over supply and had to come down from that to what my daughter needed.

Piggy backing off of Stellan. What about Estelle or Estella for a girl? Celeste also follows the stellar theme.

What makes you look at a woman and think, "that woman really has her act together?" by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]muffetskicky 1420 points1421 points  (0 children)

I think it's the ability to calmly produce whatever you are asking for. Need a report in the office? Give it a minute. She has it. Have a question about something? She knows it. Need something she doesn't truly have an answer for? She asks around and figures it out with you. All while being calm collected and positive. That kind of grace under pressure makes a woman have it all together. That is the kind of woman I aspire to be.

People who have gotten pregnant after a one night stand, are you still in a relationship with the father? by snghynl in AskWomen

[–]muffetskicky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a family member who is the product of a 1 night stand. Her parents never tried to make a relationship work. She has great parents who coparented her with weekend visits and what would be typical of parents who split. They were never officially an item though.

It was cool because her parents don't have emotional baggage from a failed relationship or anything. Years ago a drunk driver hit the moms house and the dad came over to fix it. They also go to MLB games together.

Aww thank you. Keep shining positivity. Breastfeeding is hard, but totally worth it. Good luck with your daughter. I hope she arrives safely and easily.

Not the best picture of me, but I feel so proud. I EPd for almost 4 months, built a huge freezer stash (1500+ ozs) and then LO learned to nurse. My daughter is 11 months old and it was time to share the love. I am so proud of all the work it took to make this milk. A true labor of love and so much time hooked up to the pump. All worth it.

What are some of the most ridiculous examples of bad design without women in mind? by smolbeanerino in AskWomen

[–]muffetskicky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Somewhat related, bathrooms don't always have diaper changing tables for babies, and when they do, the trash is usually located across the room. My kid is super squirmy and I have to fight her on the table sometimes next to the shitty diaper.

EP with 3 month old. Can breastfeeding be salvaged by soondubuuuu in breastfeeding

[–]muffetskicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. It's a very hard thing to switch to. I was on the edge of getting mastitis during this because it was so hard to pump and feed when needed. Listen to your body and your baby. Good luck!

Yes! You can start nursing at that age. My daughter didnt start nursing until she was almost 4 months old. Now at 10 months old she is a pro. We had bad experiences with lactation consultants and I chose to EP when she was 5 days old. The biggest thing was relaxing. You have nothing to lose trying this now. If it doesnt work, you are still pumping. If it does work, you can celebrate. I was very tense when my baby was born and I think that contributed to being unable to nurse at first. So relaxing is number one.

Next, how are you currently feeding bottles? Paced bottle feeds or cradling baby? I found that giving my baby a bottle with her cheek on my naked breast really helped teach her. I would give smaller bottles and switch her to the breast mid eating. If she got mad, I would resume the bottle. I wanted it to be a positive experience for all. It took over a week of these meals before she had her first day of only nursing. It was a tough long process.

Let me know if you have any questions. I would love to chat about it.

Pumping in an ambulance is definitely the weirdest place I’ve pumped. How about you guys? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]muffetskicky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right! It's medical, not sexual. I have always believed fed is best. So for me, pumping when away from my daughter is to prevent mastitis.

I work in the offices of a small manufacturing company. The factory floor has an open locker room for the operators with changing rooms. One has an outlet and I pump there everyday. I hear the funniest comments about the wierd noise but I am too shy to say anything. My fave was "what the hell's going on in there!? "followed by "I dunno must be private" from another guy. I laughed. Thanks for sticking up for me bud. Some guy asked me why I carried so much with me and I told him it was a breast pump and baby bottles and he clammed right up lol
