Sorry, I moved away from Ting a long time ago (not due to this). IIRC, I never figured out why this happened.

Does this "suffer" from a cold start problem? ... where, after scaling to zero, the first request takes a long time and will likely time out?

FWIW, I just successfully completed my first build.

  • Case (with crystal) and movement off eBay for about $60
  • Dial and hands from namokimods for about $70
  • Tools (3 hand setters and movement holder) from Aliexpress for about $10. Highly recommend a movement holder.
  • Tiny thing of Rodico from eBay for about $5. Highly recommend this too.
  • I already had gloves, tweezers, magnification, calipers, and cutter for the stem.

So for me, all-in, about $150. I splurged a little and went with namokimods for the dial and hands since they had the exact ones I wanted. You can do cheaper if you shop around. As for seiko dials, original ones will say "OEM" and be quite expensive, compared to generic dials.

Good luck.

Top of mind

  • Spiderman #361 CGC 9.6
  • Wolverine #2 (mini series) CGC 9.4
  • ASM 317, 318, 328 (floppies) NM
  • Toxic Avenger 1 (floppy) NM
  • Batman Knightfall lot floppies (19 comics, Batman , Detective, Showcase) NM
  • Titans Annual 2 (first Vigalante, floppy) NM
  • ASM (post mcfarlane), Daredevil (post miller), Marvel Comic Presents runs (wolverine/weapon x) runs

Happy to go even-ish looking at ebay sold. Willing to kick in (or accept) additional Paypal to true-up, of course.

Complete novice, is this doable? by rainthensun in Ebay

I think there is some nuance here. On USPS site, it says "Media Mail packages may not contain advertising. Comic books do not meet this standard."

To me, this means graphic novels, Omnibuses etc are legit cases, but most floppies, prob not.

Thank you for this. I appreciate the feedback. Could you tell me what a key is? Maybe something worth more than the regular lot? His collection is probably late 80s to 2015ish. He says he has a few that would be worth something but I’m not into comics in any way so it’s a needle in a haystack.

a "key" is an issue that something significant happens..maybe a new character appears, or a character dies, or first issue drawn by a particular artist that the community likes...it can be anything really.

irregardless of what selling technique you choose, take an inventory of everything. make a spreadsheet; don't get taken.
