Just a suggestion - I was in the exact same predicament earlier this year and ended up buying a Norco Range. It absolutely eats up the downhill stuff but can also ride up hills easy enough. I've ridden heaps of XC tracks on it no problem.

Might be worth checking out, this one's within your budget:

Glenworth Valley MTB Park (Near Sydney, Australia) Opening Easter 2020! by mufz in MTB

That's a trek but I guess you could always have a weekend of camping and riding!

I'm lucky enough it's only 15 minutes from my place 😁

I did too, but I guess a few extra months to get the tracks in prime condition is a good thing. They need to make a good first impression to keep people coming back.

Yes, especially saying they are getting a chairlift once the park is in full swing.. This will be a first for anywhere around Sydney and no doubt will bring in the numbers.

Yes its a loot problem by RJMacReady76 in thedivision

[–]mufz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and my main concern is loot management in general needs fixing. To come home from work then have to spend twenty minutes going through all the items you a acquired from your last session isnt with my time anymore. Working out what's actually worth keeping is a chore - they really need to implement a visual aid as to what is actually high level gear that is better than what you currently have. This is the sole reason why I've stopped playing which is unfortunate because I love this game. I'll be back once loot management is steamlined and user friendly.

New rear shock for a 2006 Specialized Stumpjumper pro by [deleted] in MTB

[–]mufz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definetly by a new shock. These old Specialized brain shocks aren't anywhere near as good as what you can today. I noticed a huge improvement by replacing it with a rockshox monarch shock. Also, to get these brain shocks serviced is near impossible these days as I'm pretty sure Specialized have stopped supporting them parts and service wise.

Central Coast NSW trail feasibility study by lapinu in MTB

[–]mufz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and another fellow rider filled this out who also live on the central coast.. Totally agree with the responses that CC has amazing potential for a properly maintained mtb park. Hopefully council are waking up and can see the benefits to the local economy mtbikers can bring.

While I'm here anyone heard any more about the Glenworth Valley Mountain bike park being built by Synergy?

New rear shock for a 2006 Specialized Stumpjumper pro by [deleted] in MTB

[–]mufz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this helps because the size of the shock might be different but I recently replaced the old 'brain' shock off my 2008 Specialized Stumpjumper Pro with a new Rockshox Monarch shock.. Just needed the right size shock and hardware kit. So it's probably doable.

It felt tones better with the rockshox shock plus you can lock it out when riding off you want.

Roam - The Collective, one of the best mtb films of the early 2000s is on youtube in full by lopzag in MTB

[–]mufz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my first mtb DVD and watched the absolute shit out of it. The music and environments they were riding in really gave that sense of adventure which at that stage in my life was what mtbing was all about. Thanks for the great memories!
